ಕಸ್ತೂರಿಕಾಮೃಗಾಣಾಂ: ನಾನು ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ ಖಲನ ನಾಲಿಗೆಗೆ ಕಸ್ತೂರಿ

ಸುಗಂಧದ ಅಂಗಡಿಯ ಮುಂದೆ ಹಾದುಹೋಗುವಾಗ ಬೀಸಿದ ಪರಿಮಳ ಬಟ್ಟೆಗೆ ಹತ್ತಿ ದಿನವಿಡೀ ಜೊತೆಗೇ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ. ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ವಾಸನೆ ಅಷ್ಟು ಸುಲಭವಾಗಿ ಹೋಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

ಈ ಗೀತಿ ಛಂದಸ್ಸಿನ ಶ್ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಕವಿ ತಾನೇ ವಿಧಿಯ ಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತು ಒಂದು ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುವುದಾಗಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಅದು ನಗು ಹುಟ್ಟಿಸುವ ಕಲ್ಪನೆ.

ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ

ಕಸ್ತೂರಿಕಾಮೃಗಾಣಾಮಂಡಾದ್ (कस्तूरिकामृगाणामण्डाद्, kastūrikāmṛgāṇāmaṇḍād) = ಕಸ್ತೂರಿ ಮೃಗಗಳ ಕೋಶದಿಂದ (from the pod of the musk deer)
ಗಂಧಗುಣಮಖಿಲಮಾದಾಯ (गन्धगुणमखिलमादाय, gandhaguṇamakhilamādāya) = ಪರಿಮಳದ ಗುಣವನ್ನೆಲ್ಲ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು (having taken the whole quality of scent)
ಯದಿ (यदि, yadi) = ಒಂದು ವೇಳೆ (if)
ಪುನರಹಂ (पुनरहं, punarahaṃ) = ಮತ್ತೆ ನಾನು (again I)
ವಿಧಿಃ (विधिः, vidhiḥ) = ವಿಧಿ, ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಕರ್ತ (the Creator)

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)

ಕಸ್ತೂರಿ ಮೃಗಗಳ ಕೋಶದಿಂದ ಪರಿಮಳದ ಗುಣವನ್ನೆಲ್ಲ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು, ನಾನು ವಿಧಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ ಅದನ್ನು ಖಲನ ನಾಲಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆ.

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)

Taking all the quality of scent from the pods of the musk deer, if I were the Creator I would set it in the tongue of the crooked.

ಈ ಸುಭಾಷಿತದ ಬಗ್ಗೆAbout this subhashita

ಕಸ್ತೂರಿ ಮೃಗದ ಹೊಟ್ಟೆಯ ಬಳಿಯ ಕೋಶದಿಂದ ಸಿಗುವ ಪರಿಮಳದ ವಸ್ತು ಎಂದು ಹಳೆಯ ಕಾವ್ಯ ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ. ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಸುಗಂಧ ಎಂಬುದಕ್ಕೆ ಅದು ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ ಉದಾಹರಣೆ.

Old poetry speaks of musk as a scent from a pod of the musk deer. It is the famous example of the finest fragrance.

ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳದೇ ಉಳಿಸಿದ್ದು ಒಂದಿದೆ: ನಾಲಿಗೆಯಿಂದ ಬರುವ ಮಾತು ಸುಗಂಧವಾಗಬೇಕು ಎಂಬ ಹಾರೈಕೆ. ಈಗ ಅದು ಹಾಗಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬುದೇ ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಟೀಕೆ.

One thing the verse leaves unsaid: the wish that the speech from the tongue should smell sweet. That it is not so now is the whole criticism.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today

ನಮ್ಮ ಮಾತಿನ ವಾಸನೆಯನ್ನು ನಾವು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಗಮನಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಇತರರು ಗಮನಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.

We seldom notice the smell of our own speech. Others do.

ರೋಗಿಗೆ ಕೆಟ್ಟ ಸುದ್ದಿ ಹೇಳುವಾಗಲೂ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಮೃದುವಾಗಿ ಇಡುವುದು ಕಲಿಯಬಹುದಾದ ಕಲೆ. ಸತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಡದೆ ಮೃದುತ್ವವನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದೇ ಅದರ ಕಷ್ಟ.

Even when giving a patient bad news, keeping the words gentle is a skill that can be learnt. Its difficulty is keeping the truth and the gentleness together.
