Context and commentary on verse 11.3
This is not a question born of doubt. Sridhara Swami says so plainly: ‘I have no disbelief in what you have said, yet I wish to see.’ Shankara explains the ‘sovereign form’ as the form of Vishnu endowed with knowledge, sovereignty, power, strength, valour and splendour.
Ramanuja takes the address ‘Purushottama’ to mean the ocean of tenderness towards those who take refuge in him. The form Arjuna wishes to see is for him the Lord’s unique form: the form that creates, sustains, rules and dissolves all things. ‘To see’ for him means to experience directly. Madhva’s comment on this verse is not in our source text.

Faith and the wish to experience are not opposed. ‘Your word is true, yet I wish to see’ is a curiosity full of respect.
When, after a doctor explains an illness, the patient asks, ‘Show me the scan’, it is not distrust. Understanding grows firm when one sees with one’s own eyes.
