Context and commentary on verse 11.51
Shankara describes the ‘human form’ as ‘matsakham’, the form of my friend, the gracious form. ‘Sachetah’ means I have become clear in mind, and ‘prakritim gatah’ I have returned to my own nature. The sense Sridhara Swami gives to ‘prakriti’ is notable: ‘svasthya’, the state of being established in oneself, health.
Ramanuja describes this human form as the most gentle form, unique to him, of boundless beauty, tenderness and loveliness, set in human shape. The feeling of his words is that after the cosmic form the human form is not something less, it has a beauty all its own. Madhva’s comment on this verse is not in our source text.

Sridhara Swami’s ‘svasthya’, being established in oneself, is a lovely definition of health. After an intense shock, body and mind need time to return to their natural state.
If memories of the shock keep returning, or sleeplessness or being easily startled continue even after some weeks, it is good to seek the help of a doctor or a psychiatrist.
