In the malicious man, handsomeness serves the pursuit of other men’s wives, wealth serves the tormenting of people, and power serves the destruction of the good. In him even the qualities turn more malicious.
About this subhashita
Khalatara is the comparative of khala, meaning even more malicious. The final sting is that even good qualities turn more malicious on touching him.
In three short phrases come three gifts and three misuses: beauty, wealth and power. Each is a capacity of the same hand, only the direction is reversed.

For life today
Because a person has some fine quality, we need not trust him. We should see for whose good he uses it.
We may also look at our own power, money and knowledge in this same mirror. It is enough to ask whom they are turning into good for.
