O daughter of the snow mountain! Kamadeva’s bow is made of flowers, its string is a row of honey-bees, and his arrows number only five. Spring alone is his vassal, and the soft breeze off the Malaya hills is his war chariot. With nothing but this, Ananga, who has no body of his own, stands alone and still conquers the entire world. The only reason is the indescribable grace he has received from the corner of your eye.

These details are not part of the original Saundarya Lahari, as we wish to state clearly at the outset. Associating each verse with a specific yantra, a seed syllable (bija mantra), a required chanting count (japa count), and a resulting benefit is a practice that evolved in later centuries. Furthermore, these technical details vary slightly from one text to another. This compilation represents a record of a traditional practice rather than any form of medical advice.
