ಸ್ಮಿತಜ್ಯೋತ್ಸ್ನಾಜಾಲಂ ತವ ವದನಚಂದ್ರಸ್ಯ ಪಿಬತಾಂ
ಚಕೋರಾಣಾಮಾಸೀತ್ ಅತಿರಸತಯಾ ಚಂಚುಜಡಿಮಾ ।
ಅತಸ್ತೇ ಶೀತಾಂಶೋ-ರಮೃತಲಹರೀಮಮ್ಲರುಚಯಃ

स्मितज्योत्स्नाजालं तव वदनचन्द्रस्य पिबतां
चकोराणामासीत् अतिरसतया चञ्चुजडिमा ।
अतस्ते शीतांशोरमृतलहरीमम्लरुचयः
पिबन्ति स्वच्छन्दं निशि निशि भृशं काञ्जिकधिया ॥ 63 ॥

- ಸ್ಮಿತಜ್ಯೋತ್ಸ್ನಾಜಾಲಂ (स्मितज्योत्स्नाजालं, smitajyotsnājālaṃ) = ಮಂದಹಾಸವೆಂಬ ಬೆಳದಿಂಗಳ ರಾಶಿಯನ್ನು (the flood of moonlight that is your smile)
- ತವ ವದನಚಂದ್ರಸ್ಯ (तव वदनचन्द्रस्य, tava vadanacandrasya) = ನಿನ್ನ ಮುಖಚಂದ್ರನ (of the moon of your face)
- ಪಿಬತಾಂ (पिबतां, pibatāṃ) = ಕುಡಿಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದ (drinking)
- ಚಕೋರಾಣಾಂ (चकोराणां, cakorāṇāṃ) = ಚಕೋರ ಪಕ್ಷಿಗಳಿಗೆ (for the chakora birds)
- ಆಸೀತ್ (आसीत्, āsīt) = ಉಂಟಾಯಿತು (there came)

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ನಿನ್ನ ಮುಖಚಂದ್ರನ ಮಂದಹಾಸವೆಂಬ ಬೆಳದಿಂಗಳನ್ನು ಕುಡಿದ ಚಕೋರ ಪಕ್ಷಿಗಳ ಕೊಕ್ಕು ಅತಿಯಾದ ಸಿಹಿಯಿಂದ ಜಡವಾಯಿತು. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಬಾಯಿರುಚಿ ಬದಲಿಸಲು ಹುಳಿಯನ್ನು ಬಯಸಿದ ಅವು, ಚಂದ್ರನ ಅಮೃತದಂತಹ ಬೆಳದಿಂಗಳನ್ನು ಹುಳಿಗಂಜಿ ಎಂದು ಭಾವಿಸಿ ಪ್ರತಿ ರಾತ್ರಿಯೂ ಮನಬಂದಂತೆ ಕುಡಿಯುತ್ತವೆ.
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)
The chakora birds drank the moonlight of the smile on the moon of your face until their beaks went numb from too much sweetness. So now, craving something sour, they drink the nectar-waves of the moon’s light freely, night after night, taking it for sour gruel.
