ಗೆದ್ದ ದಿನ ಒಬ್ಬರ ನಡವಳಿಕೆ ಹೇಗಿತ್ತು ಎಂಬುದು ಅವರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ತಿಳಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಸೋತ ದಿನ ಅದೇ ನಡವಳಿಕೆ ಉಳಿದಿತ್ತೇ ಎಂಬುದು ತಿಳಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
ಈ ಅನುಷ್ಟುಪ್ ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಆ ಮಾತಿಗೆ ಆಕಾಶದಿಂದಲೇ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿ ತರುತ್ತದೆ.
ಸುಭಾಷಿತ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಉದಯೇ ಸವಿತಾ ರಕ್ತೋ ರಕ್ತಶ್ಚಾಸ್ತಮಯೇ ತಥಾ ।
ಸಂಪತ್ತೌ ಚ ವಿಪತ್ತೌ ಚ ಮಹತಾಮೇಕರೂಪತಾ ॥

उदये सविता रक्तो रक्तश्चास्तमये तथा ।
संपत्तौ च विपत्तौ च महतामेकरूपता ॥
ಸುಭಾಷಿತ (IAST)

ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ
- ಉದಯೇ (उदये, udaye) = ಹುಟ್ಟುವಾಗ (at rising)
- ಸವಿತಾ (सविता, savitā) = ಸೂರ್ಯ (the sun)
- ರಕ್ತಃ (रक्तः, raktaḥ) = ಕೆಂಪು (is red)
- ರಕ್ತಃ (रक्तः, raktaḥ) = ಕೆಂಪು (red)
- ಚ (च, ca) = ಮತ್ತು (and)
- ಅಸ್ತಮಯೇ (अस्तमये, astamaye) = ಮುಳುಗುವಾಗ (at setting)
- ತಥಾ (तथा, tathā) = ಹಾಗೆಯೇ (just the same)
- ಸಂಪತ್ತೌ (संपत्तौ, saṃpattau) = ಸಂಪತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ (in good fortune)
- ಚ (च, ca) = ಮತ್ತು (and)
- ವಿಪತ್ತೌ (विपत्तौ, vipattau) = ಆಪತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ (in ruin)
- ಚ (च, ca) = ಮತ್ತು (and)
- ಮಹತಾಮ್ (महताम्, mahatām) = ದೊಡ್ಡವರಿಗೆ (of the great)
- ಏಕರೂಪತಾ (एकरूपता, ekarūpatā) = ಒಂದೇ ರೂಪ (oneness of form)
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಸೂರ್ಯ ಹುಟ್ಟುವಾಗ ಕೆಂಪು, ಮುಳುಗುವಾಗಲೂ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಕೆಂಪು. ಸಂಪತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಆಪತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ದೊಡ್ಡವರಿಗೆ ಒಂದೇ ರೂಪ.
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)
At rising the sun is red, and at setting it is red just the same. In good fortune and in ruin the great keep one and the same form.
ಈ ಸುಭಾಷಿತದ ಬಗ್ಗೆAbout this subhashita
ರಕ್ತ ಎಂಬ ಪದಕ್ಕೆ ಕೆಂಪು ಎಂದೂ ಒಲವು ಉಳ್ಳವನು ಎಂದೂ ಅರ್ಥ. ಸೂರ್ಯನ ಬಣ್ಣದ ಮಾತಿನೊಳಗೇ ದೊಡ್ಡವರ ಒಲವಿನ ಮಾತೂ ಸೇರಿಕೊಂಡಿದೆ.
Rakta means red and also attached, affectionate. Inside the line about the sun’s colour sits a line about the warmth of the great.
ಸ್ಥಿರತೆಯನ್ನು ಹೇಳಲು ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಒಂದೇ ಪದವನ್ನು ಎರಡು ಬಾರಿ ಬಳಸಿದೆ: ರಕ್ತೋ, ರಕ್ತಶ್ಚ. ಪುನರಾವೃತ್ತಿಯೇ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಅರ್ಥವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.
To say steadiness, the verse simply repeats one word: rakto, raktashcha. The repetition is itself the meaning.
ಏಕರೂಪತಾ ಎಂದರೆ ಒಂದೇ ರೂಪದಲ್ಲಿರುವುದು. ಏನೂ ನಡೆದಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ಸೂರ್ಯನಿಗೆ ಉದಯ ಮತ್ತು ಅಸ್ತಮಯ ಎರಡೂ ನಿಜ. ಬಣ್ಣ ಮಾತ್ರ ಬದಲಾಗಿಲ್ಲ.
Ekarupata is holding one form. The verse does not say nothing happened. Rising and setting are both real for the sun. Only the colour did not change.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today
ರೋಗಿ ಗುಣವಾದಾಗ ಮತ್ತು ರೋಗಿ ಕೈಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೋದಾಗ ಒಬ್ಬ ವೈದ್ಯರ ದನಿ ಒಂದೇ ಆಗಿ ಉಳಿಯುವುದು ಸುಲಭವಲ್ಲ. ಆ ಸ್ಥಿರತೆಯೇ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಿದ ಏಕರೂಪತೆ.
It is not easy for a doctor’s voice to stay the same when a patient recovers and when a patient is lost. That steadiness is the oneness of form spoken of here.
ಏಕರೂಪತೆ ಎಂದರೆ ಏನೂ ತಟ್ಟದಿರುವುದಲ್ಲ. ದುಃಖ ತಟ್ಟುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದರೆ ಅದು ಬೇರೆಯವರೊಡನೆ ನಡೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ರೀತಿಯನ್ನು ಬದಲಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
Oneness of form does not mean being untouched. Grief touches. It just does not change how one behaves with others.
