ಗಣಪತಿ ಸ್ತೋತ್ರಗಳ ಆರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಧ್ಯಾನ ಶ್ಲೋಕವಾಗಿ ಬರುವ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ ಸಾಲುಗಳಿವು, ಆತನ ರೂಪವನ್ನು ತಲೆಯಿಂದ ಕೆನ್ನೆಯವರೆಗೆ ವಿವರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
ಕುಳ್ಳ, ಸ್ಥೂಲ ದೇಹ, ಆನೆಯ ಮುಖ, ದೊಡ್ಡ ಹೊಟ್ಟೆ, ದಂತದ ಪೆಟ್ಟಿನಿಂದ ಬಂದ ಕೆಂಬಣ್ಣದ ಕಾಂತಿ ಎಂದೆಲ್ಲ ವರ್ಣಿಸಿ ಗಣಪತಿಗೆ ನಮಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಖರ್ವಂ ಸ್ಥೂಲತನುಂ ಗಜೇಂದ್ರವದನಂ ಲಂಬೋದರಂ ಸುಂದರಂ ಪ್ರಸ್ಯಂದನ್ಮದಗಂಧಲುಬ್ಧಮಧುಪವ್ಯಾಲೋಲಗಂಡಸ್ಥಲಮ್ ।
ದಂತಾಘಾತವಿದಾರಿತಾರಿರುಧಿರೈಃ ಸಿಂಧೂರಶೋಭಾಕರಂ ವಂದೇ ಶೈಲಸುತಾಸುತಂ ಗಣಪತಿಂ ಸಿದ್ಧಿಪ್ರದಂ ಕಾಮದಮ್ ॥

खर्वं स्थूलतनुं गजेन्द्रवदनं लम्बोदरं सुन्दरं प्रस्यन्दन्मदगन्धलुब्धमधुपव्यालोलगण्डस्थलम् ।
दन्ताघातविदारितारिरुधिरैः सिन्धूरशोभाकरं वन्दे शैलसुतासुतं गणपतिं सिद्धिप्रदं कामदम् ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (IAST)

ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ
- ಖರ್ವಮ್ (खर्वम्, kharvam) = ಕುಳ್ಳನಾದ (the short one)
- ಸ್ಥೂಲತನುಮ್ (स्थूलतनुम्, sthūlatanum) = ಸ್ಥೂಲ ದೇಹವುಳ್ಳವನನ್ನು (the one of stout body)
- ಗಜೇಂದ್ರವದನಮ್ (गजेन्द्रवदनम्, gajendravadanam) = ಆನೆಯ ಮುಖವುಳ್ಳವನನ್ನು (the elephant faced one)
- ಲಂಬೋದರಮ್ ಸುಂದರಮ್ (लम्बोदरम् सुन्दरम्, lambodaram sundaram) = ದೊಡ್ಡ ಹೊಟ್ಟೆಯ ಸುಂದರನನ್ನು (the beautiful one with a large belly)
- ಪ್ರಸ್ಯಂದನ್ಮದಗಂಧಲುಬ್ಧಮಧುಪವ್ಯಾಲೋಲಗಂಡಸ್ಥಲಮ್ (प्रस्यन्दन्मदगन्धलुब्धमधुपव्यालोलगण्डस्थलम्, prasyandanmadagandhalubdhamadhupavyālolagaṇḍasthalam) = ಮದದ ಪರಿಮಳಕ್ಕೆ ಆಸೆಪಟ್ಟ ದುಂಬಿಗಳು ಸುತ್ತುವ ಕೆನ್ನೆಯುಳ್ಳವನನ್ನು (whose cheeks bees hover around, drawn by the fragrance of rut)
- ದಂತಾಘಾತವಿದಾರಿತಾರಿರುಧಿರೈಃ ಸಿಂಧೂರಶೋಭಾಕರಮ್ (दन्ताघातविदारितारिरुधिरैः सिन्धूरशोभाकरम्, dantāghātavidāritārirudhiraiḥ sindhūraśobhākaram) = ದಂತದ ಹೊಡೆತದಿಂದ ಸೀಳಿದ ಶತ್ರುವಿನ ರಕ್ತದಿಂದ ಸಿಂಧೂರದಂತೆ ಕಂಗೊಳಿಸುವವನನ್ನು (who shines like vermillion with the blood of the foe torn by his tusk)
- ವಂದೇ (वन्दे, vande) = ವಂದಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ (I bow to)
- ಶೈಲಸುತಾಸುತಮ್ (शैलसुतासुतम्, śailasutāsutam) = ಪರ್ವತಪುತ್ರಿಯ ಮಗನನ್ನು (the son of the mountain’s daughter)
- ಗಣಪತಿಮ್ ಸಿದ್ಧಿಪ್ರದಂ ಕಾಮದಮ್ (गणपतिम् सिद्धिप्रदं कामदम्, gaṇapatim siddhipradaṃ kāmadam) = ಸಿದ್ಧಿಯನ್ನೂ ಇಷ್ಟಾರ್ಥವನ್ನೂ ಕೊಡುವ ಗಣಪತಿಯನ್ನು (Ganapati, the giver of accomplishment and of what is desired)
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಕುಳ್ಳನಾದ, ಸ್ಥೂಲ ದೇಹದ, ಆನೆಮುಖದ, ದೊಡ್ಡ ಹೊಟ್ಟೆಯ ಸುಂದರನಾದ, ಮದದ ಪರಿಮಳಕ್ಕೆ ದುಂಬಿಗಳು ಸುತ್ತುವ ಕೆನ್ನೆಯುಳ್ಳ, ದಂತದ ಹೊಡೆತದಿಂದ ಸೀಳಿದ ಶತ್ರುವಿನ ರಕ್ತದಿಂದ ಸಿಂಧೂರದಂತೆ ಕಂಗೊಳಿಸುವ, ಪರ್ವತಪುತ್ರಿಯ ಮಗನಾದ, ಸಿದ್ಧಿ ಮತ್ತು ಇಷ್ಟಾರ್ಥ ಕೊಡುವ ಗಣಪತಿಗೆ ವಂದಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)
I bow to Ganapati, short and stout of body, elephant faced, beautiful with his large belly, his cheeks ringed by bees drawn to the fragrance of rut, shining like vermillion with the blood of a foe torn by his tusk, the son of the mountain’s daughter, the giver of accomplishment and of every wish.

The mention of the tusk’s blow connects to the Puranic stories of Ganapati slaying demons such as Gajasura.
