ಇದೊಂದು ಶಂಕರಾಚಾರ್ಯರನ್ನು ಸ್ತುತಿಸುವ ಸ್ತವ. ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಪಲ್ಲವಿ ಮತ್ತು ಆರು ಶ್ಲೋಕಗಳಿವೆ. ಪಲ್ಲವಿ ಹಾಡಿನ ಸಾಲಾಗಿ ಮೊದಲು ಬರುತ್ತದೆ.
This is a hymn in praise of Shankaracharya. It has a refrain and six verses. The refrain comes first as the line of the song.
ಶ್ಲೋಕಗಳು ಗುರುವಿನ ಧರ್ಮಪ್ರಚಾರ, ಸಂನ್ಯಾಸ ದೀಕ್ಷೆ, ವೇದಾಂತ ಬೋಧೆ, ಶೃಂಗೇರಿ ವಾಸ ಮತ್ತು ಶಿಷ್ಯರ ಸೇವೆಯನ್ನು ಸ್ತುತಿಸುತ್ತವೆ. ಆರನೆಯ ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಈ ಸ್ತವವನ್ನು ಭಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಪಠಿಸುವವನಿಗೆ ಬರುವ ಫಲವನ್ನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ.
The verses praise the teacher’s spreading of dharma, his sannyasa initiation, his teaching of Vedanta, his dwelling at Sringeri and the service of his disciples. The sixth verse names the fruit that comes to one who recites the hymn with devotion.

ಶ್ಲೋಕಗಳ ಅರ್ಥ
- ಪಲ್ಲವಿ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಶಂಕರಾಚಾರ್ಯರನ್ನು ನಾನು ಭಜಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಎಲ್ಲ ಲೋಕಗಳ ವಂದನೆಗೂ ಏಕೈಕ ಪಾತ್ರರಾದ ಆ ದೇಶಿಕೇಂದ್ರರನ್ನು ಭಜಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.
I worship Sri Shankaracharya, the best of teachers, the one who alone is worthy of the salutation of all worlds, that lord among teachers. - 1 ಧರ್ಮ ಪ್ರಚಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹಳ ದಕ್ಷರು, ಯೋಗಿ ಗೋವಿಂದಪಾದರಿಂದ ಸಂನ್ಯಾಸ ದೀಕ್ಷೆ ಪಡೆದವರು. ತಪ್ಪು ವಾದ ಮಾಡುವವರ ಗರ್ವವನ್ನು ಹೋಗಲಾಡಿಸಿದವರು, ಪದ್ಮಪಾದರೇ ಮೊದಲಾದ ಶಿಷ್ಯರ ಸಮೂಹ ಸೇವಿಸುವ ಪಾದಗಳುಳ್ಳವರು.
He is very skilled in spreading dharma and received sannyasa initiation from the yogi Govindapada. He removed the pride of wrong-headed debaters, and his feet are served by a company of disciples led by Padmapada. - 2 ಸಂಶಯವೆಂಬ ಪರ್ವತಕ್ಕೆ ವಜ್ರಾಯುಧವನ್ನು ಆಡಿಸುವ ಆಟದಂತಿರುವವರು, ತಮ್ಮ ಸೇವಕ ಶಿಷ್ಯರೆಲ್ಲರನ್ನೂ ಕಾಯುವ ಸ್ವಭಾವದವರು. ಉದಯ ಸೂರ್ಯನಂತಿರುವ ವಸ್ತ್ರ ಧರಿಸಿದವರು, ಎಲ್ಲ ವೇದಾಂತದ ಗೂಢ ಅರ್ಥಗಳನ್ನು ಬೋಧಿಸಿದವರು.
He shatters the mountain of doubt as easily as a thunderbolt at play, and it is his nature to protect all his serving disciples. His robe is the colour of the rising sun, and he taught the hidden meanings of all Vedanta. - 3 ರುದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಿ ಮಾಲೆಯಿಂದ ಅಲಂಕೃತರು, ಚಂದ್ರಮೌಲೀಶ್ವರನ ಆರಾಧನೆಯಿಂದ ತೃಪ್ತಿ ಪಡೆದವರು. ಎಲ್ಲ ದೋಷಗಳನ್ನು ಓಡಿಸಿದವರು, ಭಕ್ತಜನರಿಗೆ ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ಮಂಗಳ ಸಮೂಹವನ್ನು ಕೊಡುವವರು.
He is adorned with a garland of rudraksha and is content through worship of Chandramaulishvara. He has driven away every fault, and he always gives the company of devotees a store of auspicious things. - 4 ಪಾಪದ ಕಾಡಿಗೆ ಅಗ್ನಿಯಂತಿರುವವರು, ಜ್ಞಾನದ ದೀಪದಿಂದ ಹೃದಯದ ಕತ್ತಲೆಯನ್ನು ಹೋಗಲಾಡಿಸುವವರು. ವ್ಯಾಸರ ಪ್ರೀತಿಗೆ ಪಾತ್ರರು, ಎಲ್ಲ ತಾಪಗಳನ್ನೂ ಹೋಗಲಾಡಿಸುವ ವ್ಯರ್ಥವಾಗದ ಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ಕೊಡುವ ಆ ಗುರುವನ್ನು ನಾನು ಭಜಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.
He is a fire to the forest of sin and clears the darkness of the heart with the lamp of knowledge. He is dear to Vyasa and gives unfailing knowledge that removes every affliction. That teacher I worship. - 5 ರಾಜಾಧಿರಾಜರಿಂದ ಪೂಜಿತರು, ಸುಂದರ ಶೃಂಗ ಪರ್ವತದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ಆಸಕ್ತರು, ಯತಿಗಳಿಂದ ಸ್ತುತಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟವರು. ಹುಣ್ಣಿಮೆ ಚಂದ್ರನಂತಹ ಮುಖದವರು, ರತ್ನಗರ್ಭ ಗಣಪತಿಯ ಪಾದಪೂಜೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅನುರಕ್ತರು.
He is honoured by emperors and cares only to dwell on the lovely Shringa hill, praised by ascetics. His face is like the full moon, and he is devoted to worshipping the feet of the elephant-faced Ratnagarbha. - 6 ಭಾರತೀತೀರ್ಥರು ಹಾಡಿದ ಈ ಶಂಕರಾರ್ಯ ಸ್ತವವನ್ನು ಭಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಯಾರು ಪಠಿಸುತ್ತಾರೋ, ಅವರು ಶಂಕರಾಚಾರ್ಯ ವರ್ಯರ ಅನುಗ್ರಹದಿಂದ ತಾವು ಬಯಸಿದ್ದನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಬೇಗನೆ ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಲಾಗಿದೆ.
Whoever recites with devotion this hymn to Shankaracharya, sung by Bharati Tirtha, will, it is said, quickly obtain all that he wishes through the grace of the best of teachers.

ಇದೊಂದು ಶೃಂಗೇರಿ ಶ್ರೀ ಶಾರದಾ ಪೀಠದ ಜಾಲತಾಣದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಸ್ತವ. ಆರನೆಯ ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಇದನ್ನು ಭಾರತೀತೀರ್ಥರು ಹಾಡಿದ್ದು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ. ಅದನ್ನು ಮೀರಿ ನಾವು ಕರ್ತೃತ್ವದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಏನೂ ಹೇಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಕಾಲವನ್ನೂ ಹೇಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
This is a hymn from the website of the Sringeri Sri Sharada Peetham. Verse 6 says it was sung by Bharati Tirtha. Beyond that we say nothing of authorship, and we give no date.
ಮೊದಲು ಒಂದು ಪಲ್ಲವಿ ಸಾಲು ಬರುತ್ತದೆ, ನಂತರ ಒಂದರಿಂದ ಆರರವರೆಗೆ ಶ್ಲೋಕಗಳು ಬರುತ್ತವೆ. ಪ್ರತಿ ಶ್ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡು ಉದ್ದ ಸಾಲುಗಳಿವೆ, ಮತ್ತು ಛಂದಸ್ಸಿನ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಮೂಲ ಕೊಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಪಲ್ಲವಿಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿ ಶ್ಲೋಕದ ನಂತರ ಹಾಡುವ ಕ್ರಮವಿರಬಹುದು.
A single refrain line comes first, then verses one to six. Each verse has two long lines, and the source does not give the name of the metre. The refrain may be sung after each verse.
ನಾಲ್ಕನೆಯ ಶ್ಲೋಕದ ಕೊನೆಯ ಪದ ತಂ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಪಲ್ಲವಿಯ ಭಜೇ ಎಂಬ ಕ್ರಿಯೆಗೆ ಜೋಡಿಸಿ ಓದಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಐದನೆಯ ಶ್ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ರತ್ನಗರ್ಭೇಭವಕ್ತ್ರ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ರತ್ನಗರ್ಭ ಗಣಪತಿ ಎಂದು ಅರ್ಥೈಸಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಪಾಠದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವು ಕಡೆ ಕನ್ನಡ ಲಿಪ್ಯಂತರದ ಅಕ್ಷರ ತಪ್ಪುಗಳಿರಬಹುದು.
In verse 4 we read the closing word tam as joined to the verb bhaje of the refrain. In verse 5 we took ratnagarbhebhavaktra to mean the elephant-faced Ratnagarbha Ganapati. There may be a few slips of Kannada spelling in the text from conversion.
ಆರನೆಯ ಶ್ಲೋಕದ ಫಲಶ್ರುತಿ ಇಷ್ಟಾರ್ಥ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತಿಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ. ಪರಂಪರೆಯ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸವಾಗಿ ಅದನ್ನು ನಾವು ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇವೆ.
The fruit named in verse 6 concerns the gaining of what one wishes. We give it as the belief of the tradition.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today
ಅಡುಗೆ ಮನೆಯ ಕಿಟಕಿಯ ಬಳಿ ಒಂದು ಕುಂಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೀಜ ಹಾಕಿ ನೀರು ಹಾಕುತ್ತಾ ಕಾಯುವುದು ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಅನೇಕರಿಗೆ ಪರಿಚಿತ. ಎಲೆ ಮೂಡುವವರೆಗೂ ಏನೂ ಕಾಣುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಆದರೂ ಪ್ರತಿದಿನ ನೀರು ಹಾಕುತ್ತೇವೆ.
Many of us know the habit of sowing a seed in a pot by the kitchen window and waiting, watering it daily. Nothing shows until the leaf appears, yet we water it every day.
ಈ ಸ್ತವ ಗುರುವನ್ನು ಅಜ್ಞಾನದ ಕತ್ತಲೆಯನ್ನು ಹೋಗಲಾಡಿಸುವವನೆಂದು ಸ್ತುತಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ತಿಳುವಳಿಕೆಯೂ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಮೆಲ್ಲನೆ ಬೆಳೆಯುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ನಮಗೆ ಅನಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ದಿನದ ಸಣ್ಣ ಪಾಠ ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ಮರಣೆ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ನೀರಿನಂತೆ.
This hymn praises the teacher as the one who removes the darkness of ignorance. It seems to us that understanding too grows slowly in the same way, and a small daily lesson or remembrance is its water.
