ರವಿ ಪುಷ್ಯ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಅರ್ಥದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಬ್ಬವಲ್ಲ. ಇದು ಒಂದು ಸಂಯೋಗ: ಚಂದ್ರ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತೇಳು ನಕ್ಷತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಎಂಟನೆಯದಾದ ಪುಷ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಭಾನುವಾರ (ರವಿವಾರ). ಪಂಚಾಂಗಗಳು ಇದನ್ನು ರವಿ ಪುಷ್ಯ ಯೋಗ ಎನ್ನುತ್ತವೆ. ಇದರ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ ಜೊತೆಗಾರ ಗುರು ಪುಷ್ಯ, ಗುರುವಾರದಂದು ಬರುವ ಅದೇ ನಕ್ಷತ್ರ. ಎರಡನ್ನೂ ಹೊಸ ಆರಂಭಗಳಿಗೆ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ದಿನಗಳೆಂದು ಪರಿಗಣಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಮತ್ತು ಆ ಉದ್ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ರವಿ ಪುಷ್ಯವನ್ನು ಗುರು ಪುಷ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚುಕಡಿಮೆ ಸಮಾನವೆಂದು ತಿಳಿಯುತ್ತಾರೆ.
ಪುಷ್ಯ ನಕ್ಷತ್ರ
ಪುಷ್ಯ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಕರ್ಕಾಟಕ ರಾಶಿಯೊಳಗಿದೆ. ಇದರ ಅಧಿದೇವತೆ ದೇವಗುರು ಬೃಹಸ್ಪತಿ; ವಿಂಶೋತ್ತರಿ ದಶಾ ಪದ್ಧತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇದರ ಅಧಿಪತಿ ಶನಿ. ಹೆಸರಿನ ಅರ್ಥ ಪೋಷಿಸುವುದು, ಮತ್ತು ಬೆಳೆಯಬೇಕಾದ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳಿಗೆ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತೇಳರಲ್ಲಿ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಅನುಕೂಲವಾದ ನಕ್ಷತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇದನ್ನು ಬಹುಕಾಲದಿಂದ ಎಣಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಬಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ತಮಿಳುನಾಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಪೂಸಂ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರು; ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ವಾರ್ಷಿಕ ಹಬ್ಬ ತೈ ಪೂಸಂ ತೈ ಮಾಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಚಂದ್ರ ಈ ನಕ್ಷತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಾಗ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತದೆ.

ರವಿ ಪುಷ್ಯದಂದು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಆರಂಭಿಸುವುದು ಅಥವಾ ಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು ಬಾಳಿಕೆಯ ಮೌಲ್ಯವಿರುವುದನ್ನು: ಚಿನ್ನ ಮತ್ತು ಆಭರಣ, ಆಸ್ತಿ, ಹೊಸ ವ್ಯಾಪಾರ, ಒಪ್ಪಂದ, ಹೊಸ ಉತ್ಪನ್ನದ ಮೊದಲ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ. ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕ ಆರಂಭಗಳಿಗೂ, ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಆರಂಭಿಸಲೂ, ಉಪನಯನಕ್ಕೂ ಮಗುವಿನ ಮೊದಲ ಶಾಲಾ ಪ್ರವೇಶಕ್ಕೂ, ಆಯುರ್ವೇದ ಔಷಧಿಯ ಕ್ರಮ ಆರಂಭಿಸಲೂ ಇದನ್ನು ಆರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಒಂದು ಬಳಕೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾತ್ರ ಬಿಡುತ್ತಾರೆ: ಪುಷ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮದುವೆಗೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಮದುವೆಗೆ ಆರಿಸುವ ನಕ್ಷತ್ರಗಳಿಂದ ಪಂಚಾಂಗಗಳು ಇದನ್ನು ಹೊರಗಿಡುತ್ತವೆ.
ಇದು ಎಷ್ಟು ಬಾರಿ ಬರುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಸುಲಭವಾಗಿ ಲೆಕ್ಕ ಹಾಕಬಹುದು. ಚಂದ್ರ ಸುಮಾರು ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತೇಳು ದಿನಗಳಿಗೊಮ್ಮೆ ಪುಷ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಮರಳುತ್ತಾನೆ, ಅವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾನುವಾರವನ್ನು ಮುಟ್ಟುವವು ಮಾತ್ರ ಲೆಕ್ಕಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುತ್ತವೆ; ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ರವಿ ಪುಷ್ಯ ವರ್ಷಕ್ಕೆ ಕೆಲವೇ ಬಾರಿ, ಕೆಲವೊಮ್ಮೆ ಸತತ ಎರಡು ತಿಂಗಳು, ಆಮೇಲೆ ಹಲವು ತಿಂಗಳು ಇಲ್ಲದೆ, ಬರುತ್ತದೆ. ವರ್ಷಕ್ಕೆ ಎಷ್ಟು ಬಾರಿ ಎಂಬುದರಲ್ಲಿ ಇದನ್ನು ಪಟ್ಟಿಮಾಡುವ ಮೂಲಗಳು ಒಪ್ಪುವುದಿಲ್ಲ; ಎಣಿಕೆ ವರ್ಷವನ್ನು ಎಷ್ಟು ಅವಲಂಬಿಸಿದೆ ಎಂಬುದಕ್ಕೆ ಅದೇ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿ.
ಅನುದಿನ ಕೊಡುವ ದಿನ
ಆ ದಿನದ ಸೂರ್ಯೋದಯದಿಂದ ಮರುದಿನದ ಸೂರ್ಯೋದಯದವರೆಗಿನ ಯಾವುದೇ ಹೊತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪುಷ್ಯ ಇರುವ ಪ್ರತಿ ಭಾನುವಾರವನ್ನೂ ಅನುದಿನ ರವಿ ಪುಷ್ಯ ಎಂದು ಪಟ್ಟಿಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ, ಮತ್ತು ಪುಷ್ಯ ಆವರಿಸುವ ಗಂಟೆಗಳನ್ನು ಅವಧಿಯಾಗಿ ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ನಕ್ಷತ್ರ ಹಗಲು ರಾತ್ರಿಯ ಯಾವ ಹೊತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಾದರೂ ಬದಲಾಗುವುದರಿಂದ ಆ ಅವಧಿ ಮುಖ್ಯ. 2026ರ ನವೆಂಬರ್ 1ರಂದು ಪುಷ್ಯ ಬಹುತೇಕ ಇಡೀ ದಿನ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ; ನವೆಂಬರ್ 29ರಂದು ಸೂರ್ಯೋದಯದ ನಂತರದ ಮೊದಲ ಕೆಲವು ಗಂಟೆಗಳು ಮಾತ್ರ. ರವಿ ಪುಷ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಆರಂಭಿಸಬೇಕಾದ ಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಆ್ಯಪ್ ತೋರಿಸುವ ಗಂಟೆಗಳೊಳಗೇ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು.
2026ರ ನವೆಂಬರ್ ನಂತರ ಅನುದಿನ ಕೊಡುವ ಮುಂದಿನ ದಿನ 2027ರ ಆಗಸ್ಟ್ 1. ರವಿ ಪುಷ್ಯ ಎಲ್ಲ ಪ್ರಾದೇಶಿಕ ಪದ್ಧತಿಗಳಲ್ಲೂ ಕಾಣಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

Ravi Pushya is not a festival in the usual sense. It is a combination, a Sunday (Ravivara) on which the Moon stands in Pushya, the eighth of the twenty-seven nakshatras. Almanacs call it Ravi Pushya Yoga. Its better-known companion is Guru Pushya, the same nakshatra on a Thursday. Both are held to be good days for beginnings, and Ravi Pushya is treated as the near equal of Guru Pushya for that purpose.
Pushya nakshatra
Pushya lies wholly within Karka, the sign of Cancer. Its presiding deity is Brihaspati, the preceptor of the gods, and in the Vimshottari dasha scheme its lord is Saturn. The name means the one who nourishes, and the nakshatra has long been counted among the most favourable of the twenty-seven for undertakings that are meant to grow. The Tamil country knows it as Poosam, and its yearly festival there, Thai Poosam, is kept when the Moon is in this nakshatra in the month of Thai.
What the day is used for
The things most often begun or bought on Ravi Pushya are those of lasting value: gold and ornaments, property, a new business, a contract, the first entry of a new product. It is also chosen for religious and spiritual beginnings, for taking up a course of study, for upanayana and a child’s first admission to school, and for beginning a course of Ayurvedic medicine. One use is set aside: Pushya is not taken for marriages, and almanacs leave it out of the nakshatras chosen for a wedding.
How often it comes is easy to work out. The Moon returns to Pushya about every twenty-seven days, and only those returns that touch a Sunday count, so Ravi Pushya comes a few times a year, sometimes in two months running and then not for many months. The sources that list it differ on how many times to expect in a year, which is a sign of how much the count depends on the year.
Which day Anudina gives
Anudina lists Ravi Pushya on any Sunday on which Pushya is in force at some time between that day’s sunrise and the next sunrise, and it shows the hours Pushya covers as the window. The window matters, because the nakshatra changes at any hour of the day or night. On 1 November 2026 Pushya runs through almost the whole day; on 29 November 2026 it holds only for the first few hours after sunrise. Anything that is to be begun under Ravi Pushya should be done inside the hours the app shows.
