Dandapani means one who holds a staff in his hand. It is the name of a form of Subrahmanya. Each of the five verses describes one aspect of him and ends with the same line.
That line is dandapanim anisham vibhavaye. It means, I constantly contemplate Dandapani.

His feet, which take away fierce sins, are there to be served. Two fine ear-rings shine on his cheeks. He punished the whole host of the gods’ enemies. I constantly contemplate such a Dandapani.
He is the son of Shiva, the Death of Death, an abode of compassion, who bears matted locks shining with the young moon. The gist of the third quarter is a lord radiant as the young sun in his garment. I constantly contemplate that Dandapani.
He shines with a moon-like face, is the foe of Taraka, and quickly grants all desired ends. He ferries us across the shoreless ocean of worldly life. I constantly contemplate that Dandapani.
Praise of his feet removes torment. He holds off such foes as anger and desire and soon brings one to his own state. I constantly contemplate that Dandapani.
He surpasses the god of love in his beauty and is worshipped by the lotus hands of Rama and Lakshmana. His limbs are tender and his form most beautiful. I constantly contemplate that Dandapani.
About this hymn
This hymn is from the Subrahmanya group on the website of the Sringeri Sri Sharada Peetham. The source names no author, so we name none. We give no date either.
The closing line is the same in every verse. One may notice that the verses begin with the sounds cha, ka, ta, ta, ka in turn.
The word chela-dhuta-shishu-vasareshvaram in verse 2 is not clear, so we give only its gist. In verse 4 we take tapahari-nija-pada-samstutim as praise of his own feet.

For life today
Think of the staff in the hand of an elder. It says nothing grand, yet with its support their steps grow steady.
Meditating on this form of the Lord with the staff in hand, we feel a similar sense of support. The closing line of each verse recalls that support again and again.
