This is a single verse for meditation on Ganesha. Most words begin with the letter va, which is a special feature of the verse. It names his qualities one after another and ends by saluting him.
The closing line of the source says that the Jagadguru of Sringeri, Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswami, composed it. The verse calls him compassionate, known through the Vedas, and a sun that clears the darkness of obstacles.

I salute that god who is praised by the gods, known through the Vedas, compassionate, a sun that calms the darkness of obstacles, worshipped by the whole world and gracious. He is elephant-faced, has broken his foes, is the foremost son of Shiva, lord of learning, of spotless fame, and giver of what is desired.

This is a single verse from the Ganapati group on the website of the Sringeri Sri Sharada Peetham. The closing line there says Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswami composed it, and we follow that. We give no date.

When we open the first page of a new notebook, it waits blank. The hesitation over what to write is familiar to many of us. Once one line is written, the remaining pages fill more easily.
The verse speaks of a sun that calms the darkness of obstacles, and that is much like the first line on the page. When the start becomes easy, the road is lit.
