This is a song of petition to Rama, son of Dasharatha. It has a pallavi and three charanas. Per the source it is sung in raga Todi and tala Rupaka.
The pallavi asks Rama, who cut down the ten-faced one, to protect the singer. The first two charanas tell of his boyhood, the breaking of Shiva’s bow, the slaying of Khara and Dushana, and the solar line. The third praises him, destroyer of the fear of worldly existence, together with his brothers.

This is a song from the website of the Sringeri Sri Sharada Peetham. The source names no author, so we name none. We give no date either.
The source gives the raga as Todi and the tala as Rupaka. The pallavi and each charana have two lines. Returning to the pallavi after each charana is the usual way of such songs.
The last charana closes by calling Rama praised by Bharati Tirtha. We say only that the name Bharati Tirtha appears as one who praises Rama. The Kannada text was converted mechanically from Devanagari, so a few spellings may contain slips.

When rain comes and someone holds an umbrella over a stranger standing nearby, both feel the comfort of it. It is no great deed, yet there is the spirit of protecting in it.
The pallavi of this song recalls the vow to protect the humble. We too can try, in small ways, to be a shelter to those beside us.
