ರತ್ನಗರ್ಭ ಗಣಪತಿ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರಿನಿಂದ ಗಣಪತಿಯನ್ನು ಸ್ತುತಿಸುವ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಶ್ಲೋಕಗಳಿವು. ಮೊದಲ ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಅವನ ಆಶ್ರಯವನ್ನು ಸದಾ ಹೊಂದುವುದಾಗಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ. ಉಳಿದ ಮೂರು ಅವನ ರೂಪ ಮತ್ತು ಗುಣಗಳನ್ನು ವರ್ಣಿಸುತ್ತವೆ.
These four verses praise Ganapati under the name Ratnagarbha Ganapati. The first says we take refuge in him always. The other three describe his form and qualities.
ಪ್ರತಿ ಶ್ಲೋಕವೂ ಗಣಪತಿಯ ಒಂದು ಅಂಶವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತದೆ: ಪ್ರಾಚೀನ ವಾಕ್ಯಗಳು ಹಾಡುವ ಮಹಿಮೆ, ಓಂಕಾರರೂಪ, ಮುರಿದ ದಂತ ಮತ್ತು ಋಷಿಗಳ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ವಾಸ. ಕೊನೆಯ ಶ್ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಋಷ್ಯಶೃಂಗಪುರದ ಯತೀಂದ್ರರ ಉಲ್ಲೇಖವಿದೆ. ಪಾಠ ರೋಮನ್ ಮೂಲದಿಂದ ಪರಿವರ್ತಿತವಾದದ್ದು.
Each verse takes up one aspect of Ganapati: the glory sung by ancient words, his form as the Pranava, his broken tusk, and his dwelling in the hearts of sages. The last verse mentions the ascetic lord of Rishyashringapura. The text was converted from a Roman original.

- 1 ಪ್ರಾಚೀನ ವಾಕ್ಯಗಳು ತನ್ನ ಚರಿತ್ರೆಯ ವೈಭವವನ್ನು ಹಾಡುವ ರತ್ನಗರ್ಭ ಗಣಪತಿಯನ್ನು ನಾನು ಸದಾ ಆಶ್ರಯಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.
I always take refuge in Ratnagarbha Ganapati, the splendour of whose deeds is sung by ancient words. - 2 ಚಂದ್ರನನ್ನು ಶಿರದ ಆಭರಣವಾಗಿ ಧರಿಸಿದವನು, ಪ್ರಣವದ ರೂಪದವನು, ಶಿವನ ಮಗ, ಆನೆಯ ಮುಖದವನು, ಎಲ್ಲ ಲೋಕಗಳಿಗೆ ಮಂಗಳವನ್ನು ಕೊಡುವವನನ್ನು ಆಶ್ರಯಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.

I take refuge in him who has a broken tusk, is praised by all the gods, is full of compassion, wears a serpent as his sacred thread, and is eager to protect those in distress. - 4 ಕಶ್ಯಪನೇ ಮೊದಲಾದ ಮುನಿಗಳ ಹೃದಯಕಮಲದ ಗರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ದುಂಬಿಯಂತಿರುವವನು, ಋಷ್ಯಶೃಂಗಪುರದ ಯತೀಂದ್ರರಿಗೆ ವಶನಾದವನು, ಇಷ್ಟಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಡುವವನನ್ನು ಆಶ್ರಯಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.
I take refuge in him who is like a bee within the heart lotus of sages such as Kashyapa, who is devoted to the ascetic lord of Rishyashringapura, and who grants what is desired.

ಇದೊಂದು ಶೃಂಗೇರಿ ಶ್ರೀ ಶಾರದಾ ಪೀಠದ ಜಾಲತಾಣದ ಗಣಪತಿ ವಿಭಾಗದ ಸ್ತೋತ್ರ. ಕರ್ತೃವಿನ ಹೆಸರು ಅಲ್ಲಿಲ್ಲ, ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನಾವೂ ಹೇಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ರಚನೆಯ ಕಾಲವನ್ನೂ ಹೇಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

ನಾಲ್ಕೂ ಶ್ಲೋಕಗಳು ಮೊದಲ ಶ್ಲೋಕದ ಆಶ್ರಯಿಸುವ ಕ್ರಿಯಾಪದವನ್ನು ಹಂಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತವೆ. ಉಳಿದ ಶ್ಲೋಕಗಳು ಆ ಕ್ರಿಯೆಗೆ ಸೇರುವ ವಿಶೇಷಣಗಳ ಸರಣಿ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಪ್ರತಿ ಶ್ಲೋಕದ ಅರ್ಥದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನು ಆಶ್ರಯಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂಬ ಭಾವವನ್ನು ತರಲಾಗಿದೆ.
The four verses share the verb of taking refuge in the first verse. The later verses are a chain of descriptions attached to it. So the sense of taking refuge is carried into the meaning of each verse.
ನಾಲ್ಕನೆಯ ಶ್ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಋಷ್ಯಶೃಂಗಪುರವೆಂದರೆ ಶೃಂಗೇರಿ ಎಂದು ಪರಂಪರೆಯ ತಿಳಿವಳಿಕೆ. ಯತೀಂದ್ರವಶ್ಯ ಎಂಬ ಪದವನ್ನು ಯತೀಂದ್ರರಿಗೆ ವಶನಾದವನು, ಅಂದರೆ ಅವರ ಭಕ್ತಿಗೆ ಒಲಿದವನು ಎಂದು ಅರ್ಥೈಸಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಪಾಠವನ್ನು ರೋಮನ್ ಮೂಲದಿಂದ ಯಂತ್ರದ ಮೂಲಕ ಪರಿವರ್ತಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ಪದದ ಅರ್ಥ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಸಂದೇಹಕ್ಕೆ ಒಳಗಾಗಬಹುದು.
In verse 4, Rishyashringapura is understood in the tradition as Sringeri. We take yatindravashya as one who is under the sway of the ascetic lord, that is, won by devotion. The text was converted mechanically from the Roman original, and this reading may be open to some doubt.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today
ಹೊಸ ಕೆಲಸ ಆರಂಭಿಸುವ ಮೊದಲು ತೆಂಗಿನಕಾಯಿ ಒಡೆಯುವ ಪದ್ಧತಿಯನ್ನು ನೆನೆಯಿರಿ. ಒಂದು ಕ್ಷಣದ ಆ ಸದ್ದು ಈಗ ಕೆಲಸ ಶುರುವಾಯಿತು ಎಂದು ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ. ಅಲ್ಲಿಯವರೆಗಿನ ಸಂಕೋಚ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಕಡಿಮೆಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.
Recall the custom of breaking a coconut at the start of a new task. That moment of sound tells the mind that the work has begun. The hesitation before it eases a little.
ಈ ಸ್ತೋತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಗಣಪತಿಯನ್ನು ಮೊದಲು ಆಶ್ರಯಿಸುವ ಭಾವವೂ ಅಂತಹದ್ದೇ. ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಲು ಹೊರಡುವ ಮೊದಲು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ನಾವು ಒಂದು ಕ್ಷಣ ಒಟ್ಟುಗೂಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ರೀತಿಯದು.
Taking refuge in Ganapati first, as this hymn does, is of the same kind. It is a way of gathering ourselves for a moment before we set out to work.
