This is a meditation of a single verse. Here Subrahmanya is remembered as the commander of the divine army, praised by Indra and the other gods, and as the son of Gauri.
At the end the devotee bows with devotion so that his wishes may be fulfilled. In this way meditation and prayer meet in one verse.

I bow to Subrahmanya, lord of the divine army, well praised by Indra and the gods born of Aditi, the son of Gauri. To the proud enemies of Indra he is as Death itself. I bow with devotion that the desired aim may be fulfilled.

This is a one-verse meditation from the Subrahmanya group on the website of the Sringeri Sri Sharada Peetham. The source names no author, so we name none. We give no date either.
The verse moves in three parts: those who praise him, the power that is like Death to his foes, and at last the bow of devotion. Sutrama is Indra, and the Aditeyas are the gods, children of Aditi.

Think of a student standing quietly for one minute with closed eyes before entering the examination hall. In that still minute he reads nothing new. He rests his trust on what he has learnt.
This one verse is much the same. Before beginning a task, it gives a small chance to state our wish with devotion and steady the mind.
