Abhyasa

Japa counter

A quiet japa counter. The whole screen is your mala: tap, and a bead lights. Every bead is kept the moment you count it, so there is nothing to save and nothing to lose.

Free, with no ads. It opens in your browser and works offline once opened. To keep it on your phone, open it and choose Install, or on an iPhone tap Share and Add to Home Screen.

A look inside

The counter: a ring of 108 beads, 41 counted, with Undo, Pause and Done. Home: a sankalpa of nine lakh, with what is done and what remains. A new japa series: no target, a total, or a count each day. Progress: chants each day, and the journey to the target. Abhyasa in the dark theme.

What it does

Count the way you chant

  • 108 beads round a meru bead, on a dark screen made for early mornings
  • Any mala size: 108, 54, 27, 1008 or your own
  • A soft bell at the end of each mala, if you wish
  • Or add the day's count in one tap, for any day

A sankalpa, or simply a practice

  • Just count, with no number to reach
  • A total, in lakhs and crores: what is done, what remains, and the day you will complete it at your present pace
  • A count each day for a number of days, such as 11 malas for 40 days
  • Several practices side by side, each with its own mantra, target and mala size

Your mantra stays yours

  • A mantra is private unless you choose otherwise: kept only on your device
  • Works fully offline, with no account
  • Sign in, if you wish, to keep your counts safe on every device

In your language

  • Nineteen languages, among them Kannada, Hindi, Marathi, Sanskrit, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam
  • Large text, screen readers and dark mode are all supported
