Who we are

ಜೀವನ ಸೂತ್ರ (Jeevana Sutra) is a personal website published at https://dixith.com by a practising physician writing about Vedanta, medicine and daily life. It is not a company and it sells nothing.

Comments

When you leave a comment we store what you typed into the comment form, together with your IP address and your browser’s user-agent string, which help us detect spam. Spam checking is done by Akismet and by WP Armour, and a hashed form of your email address may be sent to Gravatar to see whether you have a profile picture there. Once a comment is approved, your name, your picture and your comment are public.

Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely, so that follow-up comments from the same person can be approved automatically instead of waiting in a queue.

The mailing list

If you subscribe, your email address and any name you give are stored by MailPoet in this site’s own database and are used only to tell you when something new is published. They are never sold, rented or passed to anyone else. Every message carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list.

Measurement

This site uses Google Analytics, through Google Site Kit, to count visits and see which articles are read. Google sets its own cookies for this and may use them for measurement. What Google does with that data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy, not by this one. This site carries no advertising.

A second, self-hosted counter called Independent Analytics records page views on this site’s own server. It does not set cookies and does not follow you to other sites.

You choose what is allowed. The consent banner is managed by Complianz, and you can change your mind at any time on the Opt-out preferences page.

Cookies this site sets itself

If you leave a comment you may choose to have your name, email address and website saved in cookies, so you do not have to type them again. These last one year. If you sign in as an author, WordPress sets login and screen-preference cookies; these are of no use to a reader. Complianz stores your consent choice in your browser so the banner does not reappear on every page. LiteSpeed Cache and Wordfence may set short-lived technical cookies to serve pages faster and to block attacks.

Embedded content from other sites

Some articles embed content hosted elsewhere, such as audio or video. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited that other website, which may set its own cookies and track your interaction with it.

Images

If you send an image for publication, note that photographs can carry embedded location data (EXIF GPS) which anyone downloading the file could read. Strip it before sending.

Where your data goes

The site is hosted by Hostinger. Comments are checked by Akismet. Email is delivered through the mail service configured in FluentSMTP. Analytics data goes to Google. Nothing else leaves this site.

What you can ask for

If you have left a comment or joined the mailing list, you can ask for a copy of everything held about you, or ask for it to be erased. Write to kiran@dixith.com and say which you want. Data we are obliged to keep for security or legal reasons is the one exception.
