ಧೂಪದ ನಂತರ ದೀಪ ಬೆಳಗುವಾಗ ಹೇಳುವ ಮಂತ್ರ ಇದು, ಮೂರು ಬತ್ತಿಗಳ ತುಪ್ಪದ ದೀಪವನ್ನು ಅರ್ಪಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ.
ಮೂರು ಲೋಕಗಳ ಕತ್ತಲನ್ನೂ ಹೋಗಲಾಡಿಸುವ ಮಂಗಳಕರ ದೀಪ ಎಂದು ಈ ಮಂತ್ರ ದೀಪವನ್ನು ವರ್ಣಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಸಾಜ್ಯಂ ತ್ರಿವರ್ತಿಸಂಯುಕ್ತಂ ವಹ್ನಿನಾ ಯೋಜಿತಂ ಮಯಾ ।
ಗೃಹಾಣ ಮಂಗಳಂ ದೀಪಂ ತ್ರೈಲೋಕ್ಯತಿಮಿರಾಪಹಮ್ ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ದೇವನಾಗರಿ)
साज्यं त्रिवर्तिसंयुक्तं वह्निना योजितं मया ।
गृहाण मङ्गळं दीपं त्रैलोक्यतिमिरापहम् ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (IAST)
sājyaṃ trivartisaṃyuktaṃ vahninā yojitaṃ mayā |
gṛhāṇa maṅgaḷaṃ dīpaṃ trailokyatimirāpaham ||
ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ
- ಸಾಜ್ಯಮ್ (साज्यम्, sājyam) = ತುಪ್ಪ ಸಹಿತವಾದ (together with ghee)
- ತ್ರಿವರ್ತಿಸಂಯುಕ್ತಮ್ (त्रिवर्तिसंयुक्तम्, trivartisaṃyuktam) = ಮೂರು ಬತ್ತಿಗಳಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದ (fitted with three wicks)
- ವಹ್ನಿನಾ ಯೋಜಿತಮ್ ಮಯಾ (वह्निना योजितम् मया, vahninā yojitam mayā) = ನಾನು ಬೆಂಕಿಯಿಂದ ಬೆಳಗಿಸಿದ (lit by me with fire)
- ಗೃಹಾಣ ಮಂಗಳಂ ದೀಪಮ್ (गृहाण मङ्गळं दीपम्, gṛhāṇa maṅgaḷaṃ dīpam) = ಈ ಮಂಗಳಕರ ದೀಪವನ್ನು ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸು (accept this auspicious lamp)
- ತ್ರೈಲೋಕ್ಯತಿಮಿರಾಪಹಮ್ (त्रैलोक्यतिमिरापहम्, trailokyatimirāpaham) = ಮೂರು ಲೋಕಗಳ ಕತ್ತಲನ್ನೂ ಹೋಗಲಾಡಿಸುವಂಥದ್ದನ್ನು (that which dispels the darkness of the three worlds)
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ತುಪ್ಪ ಸಹಿತವಾದ, ಮೂರು ಬತ್ತಿಗಳಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದ, ನಾನು ಬೆಂಕಿಯಿಂದ ಬೆಳಗಿಸಿದ, ಮೂರು ಲೋಕಗಳ ಕತ್ತಲನ್ನೂ ಹೋಗಲಾಡಿಸುವ ಈ ಮಂಗಳಕರ ದೀಪವನ್ನು ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸು.

Accept this auspicious lamp, together with ghee, fitted with three wicks, lit by me with fire, that which dispels the darkness of the three worlds.

ಷೋಡಶೋಪಚಾರ ಪೂಜೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಧೂಪದ ನಂತರ ದೀಪ ಒಂಬತ್ತನೆಯ ಉಪಚಾರ, ಕಣ್ಣಿನ ಇಂದ್ರಿಯವನ್ನು ದೇವರೆಡೆಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿಸುವ ಹಂತ.
In the sixteen step worship, the lamp is the ninth offering after incense, the stage that turns the sense of sight towards the deity.
ಮೂರು ಬತ್ತಿಗಳ ದೀಪ ಕೆಲವು ಪಂಥಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಶೇಷ ಪ್ರಾಮುಖ್ಯ ಪಡೆದಿದೆ, ಸತ್ವ ರಜ ತಮ ಎಂಬ ಮೂರು ಗುಣಗಳ ಸಂಕೇತವೆಂದೂ ವಿವರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.
A lamp with three wicks holds particular importance in some traditions, and is also explained as a symbol of the three qualities, sattva, rajas and tamas.

ಒಂದು ಪುಟ್ಟ ದೀಪ ಇಡೀ ಕೋಣೆಯ ಕತ್ತಲನ್ನು ಹೋಗಲಾಡಿಸುವಂತೆ, ಸಣ್ಣ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಕೃತಿಯೂ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಬದಲಾವಣೆ ತರಬಲ್ಲದು ಎಂಬ ಭಾವ ಈ ಮಂತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಡಗಿದೆ.
Just as one small lamp dispels the darkness of a whole room, this mantra carries the sense that even a small good act can bring a large change.
