ಸಂಗೀತಮಪಿ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯಂ: ಸರಸ್ವತಿಯ ಎರಡು ಅಮೃತಧಾರೆಗಳು

ಸಂಗೀತ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಎರಡೂ ಸರಸ್ವತಿಯ ಕೊಡುಗೆಗಳು. ಆದರೆ ಅವು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ತಲುಪುವ ರೀತಿ ಬೇರೆ ಬೇರೆ.

ತಾಯಿ ಮಗುವಿಗೆ ಹಾಲೂಡಿಸುವ ಚಿತ್ರದ ಮೂಲಕ ಈ ಸುಭಾಷಿತ ಆ ವ್ಯತ್ಯಾಸವನ್ನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ.

ಸಂಗೀತಮಪಿ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯಂ ಸರಸ್ವತ್ಯಾಃ ಸ್ತನದ್ವಯಮ್ ।
ಏಕಮಾಪಾತಮಧುರಮನ್ಯದಾಲೋಚನಾಮೃತಮ್ ॥

संगीतमपि साहित्यं सरस्वत्याः स्तनद्वयम् ।
एकमापातमधुरमन्यदालोचनामृतम् ॥

ಸುಭಾಷಿತ (English IAST)

saṃgītamapi sāhityaṃ sarasvatyāḥ stanadvayam |

ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ

ಸಂಗೀತಮ್ (संगीतम्, saṃgītam) = ಸಂಗೀತ (music)
ಅಪಿ (अपि, api) = ಹಾಗೂ (and)
ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯಮ್ (साहित्यम्, sāhityam) = ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ (literature)
ಸರಸ್ವತ್ಯಾಃ (सरस्वत्याः, sarasvatyāḥ) = ಸರಸ್ವತಿಯ (of Sarasvati)
ಸ್ತನದ್ವಯಮ್ (स्तनद्वयम्, stanadvayam) = ಎರಡು ಸ್ತನಗಳು, ಅಂದರೆ ಹಾಲಿನ ಎರಡು ಮೂಲಗಳು (her two breasts, the two sources of her milk)
ಏಕಮ್ (एकम्, ekam) = ಒಂದು (one)
ಆಪಾತಮಧುರಮ್ (आपातमधुरम्, āpātamadhuram) = ತಾಗಿದ ಕ್ಷಣದಲ್ಲೇ ಸಿಹಿ (sweet at first touch)
ಅನ್ಯತ್ (अन्यत्, anyat) = ಇನ್ನೊಂದು (the other)
ಆಲೋಚನಾಮೃತಮ್ (आलोचनामृतम्, ālocanāmṛtam) = ಚಿಂತಿಸಿದಾಗ ಅಮೃತ (nectar on reflection)

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)

ಸಂಗೀತ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಸರಸ್ವತಿ ಮಾತೆಯ ಎರಡು ಸ್ತನಗಳು. ಒಂದು ಕಿವಿಗೆ ಬಿದ್ದ ಕ್ಷಣದಲ್ಲೇ ಸಿಹಿ, ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಚಿಂತಿಸಿದಾಗ ಅಮೃತ.

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)

Music and literature are the two breasts of mother Sarasvati. One is sweet the moment it touches you, the other is nectar when you reflect on it.

ಈ ಸುಭಾಷಿತದ ಬಗ್ಗೆAbout this subhashita

ಸರಸ್ವತಿಯನ್ನು ತಾಯಿಯಾಗಿ ಕಂಡು, ಸಂಗೀತ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಅವಳು ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಉಣಿಸುವ ಹಾಲಿನ ಎರಡು ಮೂಲಗಳೆಂದು ಕವಿ ಚಿತ್ರಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಇದೊಂದು ಪೋಷಣೆಯ ರೂಪಕ.

The poet sees Sarasvati as a mother, and music and literature as the two sources of the milk she feeds her children. It is a metaphor of nourishment.

ಆಪಾತ ಎಂದರೆ ಮೊದಲ ಸಂಪರ್ಕ, ಮೊದಲ ಬಾರಿ ಬಂದು ತಾಗುವುದು. ಆಲೋಚನಾ ಎಂದರೆ ಮತ್ತೆ ಮತ್ತೆ ಗಮನಿಸಿ ಚಿಂತಿಸುವುದು. ಸಂಗೀತದ ಸವಿ ತಕ್ಷಣದ್ದು, ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯದ ಸವಿ ನಿಧಾನವಾಗಿ ಬಿಚ್ಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವಂಥದ್ದು.

Apata is the first contact, the moment something first reaches you. Alochana is looking again and thinking it over. The relish of music is immediate, that of literature unfolds slowly.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today

ಹಾಡು ಕೇಳಿದ ಮೊದಲ ಸಲವೇ ಇಷ್ಟವಾಗಬಹುದು. ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಹಲವೊಮ್ಮೆ ಎರಡನೆಯ ಓದಿನಲ್ಲಿ, ಇಲ್ಲವೇ ಹತ್ತು ವರ್ಷ ಕಳೆದ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೊಸ ಅರ್ಥ ಕೊಡುತ್ತದೆ.

A song may please at the first hearing. A good book often gives new meaning at the second reading, or ten years later.

ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಎರಡನ್ನೂ ಪರಿಚಯಿಸುವುದು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದು. ಒಂದು ತಕ್ಷಣದ ಸಂತೋಷ ಕೊಡುತ್ತದೆ, ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಆಳವಾಗಿ ಯೋಚಿಸುವ ತಾಳ್ಮೆ ಕಲಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

It is good to introduce children to both. One gives immediate joy, the other teaches the patience to think deeply.
