ಆ ರೋಮಾಂಚನವನ್ನೇ ಈ ಸುಭಾಷಿತ ಕವಿಗಳು ತೊಟ್ಟ ಅಂಗಿಯಾಗಿ ಚಿತ್ರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

ಸುಭಾಷಿತ (ಕನ್ನಡ)

ಸುಭಾಷಿತರಸಾಸ್ವಾದಬದ್ಧರೋಮಾಞ್ಚಕಞ್ಚುಕಾಃ ।
ವಿನಾಪಿ ಕಾಮಿನೀಸಙ್ಗಂ ಕವಯಃ ಸುಖಮಾಸತೇ ॥

सुभाषितरसास्वादबद्धरोमाञ्चकञ्चुकाः ।
विनापि कामिनीसङ्गं कवयः सुखमासते ॥

ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ

ಸುಭಾಷಿತರಸಾಸ್ವಾದ (सुभाषितरसास्वाद, subhāṣitarasāsvāda) = ಸುಭಾಷಿತದ ರಸದ ಸವಿಯಿಂದ (from tasting the flavour of fine sayings)
ಬದ್ಧರೋಮಾಞ್ಚಕಞ್ಚುಕಾಃ (बद्धरोमाञ्चकञ्चुकाः, baddharomāñcakañcukāḥ) = ರೋಮಾಂಚನವೆಂಬ ಅಂಗಿಯನ್ನು ತೊಟ್ಟವರು (clad in a jacket of thrilled hair)
ವಿನಾ ಅಪಿ (विना अपि, vinā api) = ಇಲ್ಲದೆಯೂ (even without)
ಕಾಮಿನೀಸಙ್ಗಮ್ (कामिनीसङ्गम्, kāminīsaṅgam) = ಪ್ರಿಯತಮೆಯ ಸಂಗ (the company of a beloved)
ಕವಯಃ (कवयः, kavayaḥ) = ಕವಿಗಳು (poets)
ಸುಖಮ್ (सुखम्, sukham) = ಸುಖವಾಗಿ (happily)
ಆಸತೇ (आसते, āsate) = ಇರುತ್ತಾರೆ (remain)

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)

ಸುಭಾಷಿತದ ರಸವನ್ನು ಸವಿದು, ಆ ಸವಿಯಿಂದ ಮೈಮೇಲೆ ಮೂಡಿದ ರೋಮಾಂಚನವನ್ನೇ ಅಂಗಿಯಾಗಿ ತೊಟ್ಟ ಕವಿಗಳು, ಪ್ರಿಯತಮೆಯ ಸಂಗವಿಲ್ಲದೆಯೂ ಸುಖವಾಗಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ.

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)

Poets who have tasted the flavour of fine sayings, and wear as a jacket the thrill that rises on their skin from it, stay happy even without the company of a beloved.

ಈ ಸುಭಾಷಿತದ ಬಗ್ಗೆAbout this subhashita

ಕಂಚುಕ ಎಂದರೆ ಮೈಗೆ ಅಂಟಿಕೊಂಡಿರುವ ಅಂಗಿ. ರೋಮಾಂಚನದಿಂದ ನಿಮಿರಿದ ರೋಮಗಳು ಮೈಯನ್ನು ಅಂಗಿಯಂತೆ ಮುಚ್ಚಿವೆ ಎಂಬುದು ಕವಿಯ ಕಲ್ಪನೆ.

Kanchuka is a close-fitting jacket. The poet imagines hair standing on end in delight covering the body like a jacket.

ಶೃಂಗಾರದ ಆನಂದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಕಾವ್ಯಾನಂದ ಕಡಿಮೆಯದಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬುದು ಶ್ಲೋಕದ ತಿರುಳು. ವಿಶ್ವನಾಥನ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯದರ್ಪಣ ರಸಾನುಭವವನ್ನು ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಾಸ್ವಾದಸಹೋದರ ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯುವುದೂ ಇದೇ ಭಾವದಲ್ಲಿ.

The core of the verse is that the joy of poetry is no less than the joy of love. Vishvanatha’s Sahityadarpana calls the experience of rasa a sibling of the taste of Brahman in the same spirit.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today

ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಹಾಡು ಅಥವಾ ಕವಿತೆ ಕೊಡುವ ಈ ಜುಮ್ಮೆನ್ನುವ ಆನಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಹಣ ಖರ್ಚಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಯಾರ ಅನುಮತಿಯೂ ಬೇಕಿಲ್ಲ.

This tingling joy that a good song or poem gives costs no money and needs nobody’s permission.

ಒಂಟಿತನದ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ, ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ವಯಸ್ಸಾದಾಗ, ಓದುವ ಮತ್ತು ಕೇಳುವ ಅಭ್ಯಾಸ ಜೊತೆಗಾರನಂತೆ ಜೊತೆ ನೀಡುತ್ತದೆ.

In lonely days, especially in old age, the habit of reading and listening works like a companion.
