ಸಾಮೋಪಾಕರ್ಮವು ಸಾಮವೇದಿಗಳು ಜನಿವಾರವನ್ನು ಬದಲಾಯಿಸಿ ವೇದಾಧ್ಯಯನವನ್ನು ಹೊಸದಾಗಿ ಶುರುಮಾಡುವ ವಾರ್ಷಿಕ ಆಚರಣೆ. ಇದನ್ನು ಭಾದ್ರಪದ ಶುಕ್ಲ ಪಕ್ಷದ ಹಸ್ತ ನಕ್ಷತ್ರದಂದು ಆಚರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.
ಆಚರಿಸುವ ರೀತಿ
ಶ್ರಾವಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಋಗ್ವೇದಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಯಜುರ್ವೇದಿಗಳು ಮಾಡುವಂತೆ, ಸಾಮವೇದಿಗಳು ಪವಿತ್ರ ಸ್ನಾನ ಮಾಡಿ, ಋಷಿಗಳಿಗೆ ತರ್ಪಣ ಕೊಟ್ಟು, ಹೊಸ ಯಜ್ಞೋಪವೀತ ಧರಿಸಿ, ಆ ವರ್ಷದ ವೇದಾಧ್ಯಯನವನ್ನು ಹೊಸದಾಗಿ ಶುರುಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಹಲವು ಮನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇದು ಸ್ವರ್ಣಗೌರಿ ವ್ರತದ ದಿನವೇ ಬರುತ್ತದೆ.
ಕಥೆ
ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ವೇದಕ್ಕೂ ಅದರದ್ದೇ ಆದ ಉಪಾಕರ್ಮದ ದಿನವಿದೆ. ಸಾಮವೇದಕ್ಕೆ ಭಾದ್ರಪದ ಮಾಸದ ಶುಕ್ಲ ಪಕ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಪರಾಹ್ನ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಚಂದ್ರನು ಹಸ್ತ ನಕ್ಷತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ದಿನವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ (ಧರ್ಮಸಿಂಧು). ಅದಕ್ಕಾಗಿಯೇ ಇದು ಗಣೇಶ ಚತುರ್ಥಿಯ ಹತ್ತಿರದಲ್ಲಿ, ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಸ್ವರ್ಣಗೌರಿಯ ದಿನವೇ ಬರುತ್ತದೆ.
ಅನುದಿನ ಕೊಡುವ ದಿನ
ಭಾದ್ರಪದ ಶುಕ್ಲ ಪಕ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಪರಾಹ್ನ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಸ್ತ ನಕ್ಷತ್ರವಿರುವ ದಿನವನ್ನು ಅನುದಿನ ಆ್ಯಪ್ ನೀಡುತ್ತದೆ.
ಇದನ್ನು ಇಡೀ ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಚರಿಸುವುದರಿಂದ, ಅನುದಿನ ಎರಡೂ ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯಗಳಲ್ಲೂ ಇದನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

Sama Upakarma is the yearly renewal of the sacred thread and of Vedic study for those of the Sama Veda, kept on the star Hasta in bright Bhadrapada.
How it is kept
Those of the Sama Veda take a holy bath, offer tarpana to the rishis, put on a new yajnopavita and begin the year’s study of the Veda afresh, as Rig and Yajur Vedis do in Shravana. In many homes it falls on the same day as Swarna Gauri.
The story
Each Veda has its own upakarma day. For the Sama Veda it is the day the Moon is in Hasta in the bright half of Bhadrapada, taken in the afternoon (Dharma Sindhu). That is why it so often falls with Swarna Gauri, close to Ganesha Chaturthi.
Which day Anudina gives
Anudina gives the day on which Hasta is the star in the afternoon (aparahna) in the bright fortnight of Bhadrapada.
It is kept across India, so Anudina shows it under both customs.
