ಆರ್ಯ ವೈಶ್ಯ ಸಮುದಾಯದವರು ಕನ್ಯಕಾ ಪರಮೇಶ್ವರಿ ಎಂದು ಪೂಜಿಸುವ ವಾಸವಾಂಬೆಯ ಜನ್ಮದಿನವೇ ವಾಸವಾಂಬಾ ಜಯಂತಿ. ಇದನ್ನು ವೈಶಾಖ ಶುಕ್ಲ ದಶಮಿಯಂದು ಆಚರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.
ಆಚರಿಸುವ ರೀತಿ
ಆರ್ಯ ವೈಶ್ಯ ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತು ಶ್ರೀ ವಾಸವಿ ಕನ್ಯಕಾ ಪರಮೇಶ್ವರಿ ದೇವಾಲಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವಿಗೆ ಅಭಿಷೇಕ, ಅಲಂಕಾರ, ಕುಂಕುಮಾರ್ಚನೆ, ಸ್ತೋತ್ರ ಪಠಣ, ಮೆರವಣಿಗೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಅನ್ನದಾನಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಈ ದಿನವನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಮುಖ್ಯ ಆಚರಣೆ ಆಂಧ್ರಪ್ರದೇಶದ ಪೆನುಗೊಂಡದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತದೆ; ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ವಾಸವಿ ದೇವಾಲಯಗಳಲ್ಲೂ ಇದನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.
ಕಥೆ
ಪೆನುಗೊಂಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಸುಮ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠಿ ಮತ್ತು ಕುಸುಮಾಂಬ ದಂಪತಿಗೆ ವಾಸವಾಂಬೆ ಜನಿಸಿದಳು. ವಿಷ್ಣುವರ್ಧನ ರಾಜನು ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ಬಲವಂತವಾಗಿ ವಿವಾಹವಾಗಲು ಬಯಸಿದಾಗ, ಆತನಿಗೆ ಮಣಿಯುವ ಬದಲು ಅಗ್ನಿ ಪ್ರವೇಶ ಮಾಡಲು ಆಕೆ ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸಿದಳು; ಸಮುದಾಯದ ಹಿರಿಯರೂ ಆಕೆಯ ಬೆಂಬಲಕ್ಕೆ ನಿಂತರು. ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ಪಾರ್ವತಿಯ ಸ್ವರೂಪವಾದ ಕನ್ಯಕಾ ಪರಮೇಶ್ವರಿ ಎಂದು ಪೂಜಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಹಾಗೂ ಆಕೆಯ ಜನ್ಮವನ್ನು ವೈಶಾಖ ಮಾಸದ ಶುಕ್ಲ ಪಕ್ಷದ ಹತ್ತನೆಯ ದಿನದಂದು ಸ್ಮರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.
ಅನುದಿನ ಕೊಡುವ ದಿನ
ವೈಶಾಖ ಶುಕ್ಲ ದಶಮಿ, ಅಂದರೆ ವೈಶಾಖ ಮಾಸದ ಶುಕ್ಲ ಪಕ್ಷದ ದಶಮಿ ತಿಥಿಯು ಸೂರ್ಯೋದಯಕ್ಕೆ ಇರುವ ದಿನವನ್ನು ಅನುದಿನ ಆ್ಯಪ್ ನೀಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಆಚರಣೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದು, ನಿಮಿಷಾಂಬಾ ಜಯಂತಿಯ ದಿನವೇ ಬರುತ್ತದೆ.
ಇದು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಆಚರಣೆ. ಅನುದಿನ ಇದನ್ನು ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಭಾರತದ ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯದಲ್ಲಿ ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ; ಮತ್ತು ಉತ್ತರ ಭಾರತದ ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯದಲ್ಲಿ ‘ಇತರ ಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳ ಹಬ್ಬಗಳನ್ನೂ ತೋರಿಸಿ’ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಆನ್ ಮಾಡಿದಾಗ ಮಾತ್ರ ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
ಈ ನಿಯಮವನ್ನು 2023ರ ಏಪ್ರಿಲ್ 30 (World Arya Vysya Mahasabha, ವಿಜಯಾಲೂರು ಪಂಚಾಂಗ), 2024ರ ಮೇ 18 (ವಿಜಯಾಲೂರು, Dheivegam), 2025ರ ಮೇ 7 (Daily Jagran, ವಿಜಯಾಲೂರು), 2026ರ ಏಪ್ರಿಲ್ 26 (ಪೆನುಗೊಂಡಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ETV Bharat, ರಾಯಚೂರಿಗಾಗಿ ವಾರ್ತಾಭಾರತಿ, ಬ್ಯಾಡಗಿಗಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಜಾವಾಣಿ) ಮತ್ತು 2027ರ ಮೇ 15ರ (ಒಂಟಿಕೊಪ್ಪಲ್ ಪಂಚಾಂಗ) ದಿನಾಂಕಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ತಾಳೆ ನೋಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ.

How it is kept
Arya Vysya families and the temples of Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameshwari keep the day with abhisheka, alankara and kumkumarchane of the goddess, the recitation of her stotras, processions and annadana. The chief celebration is at Penugonda in Andhra Pradesh, and the Vasavi temples of Karnataka keep it too.
The story
Vasavamba was born at Penugonda to Kusuma Shreshti and Kusumamba. When King Vishnuvardhana sought to take her in marriage by force, she chose to enter the fire rather than yield, and the elders of the community stood by her. She is worshipped as Kanyaka Parameshwari, a form of Parvati, and her birth is remembered on the tenth day of the bright half of Vaishakha.
Which day Anudina gives
Anudina gives the day on which Vaishakha shukla dashami, the tenth tithi of the bright fortnight of Vaishakha, is running at sunrise. It is a Karnataka observance, kept on the same day as Nimishamba Jayanti.
