About this verse
It is hard to say for certain which text this verse belongs to. Collections of daily prayers carry it under the name of the sunrise verse.
Some printed texts show saham at the start of the third quarter. Both the sense and the metre support sayam, evening, the third time of day after sunrise and midday.
Some note that the order of the hours does not match the usual order of Brahma creating, Vishnu sustaining and Shiva dissolving. The verse is not teaching an order; it is a reminder that all three are faces of one light.

For life today
The body clock sets itself by morning light. Present-day science says that spending a little time in outdoor light after waking also helps the rhythm of sleep.
Add a minute or two of balcony light to this fifteen-second verse. Its thought that the light stays one through the changing day gives the mind a steadiness too.
