ತರಗತಿ ಗದ್ದಲದಲ್ಲಿರುವಾಗ ನಿಜವಾದ ಅಧಿಕಾರವಿರುವ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರು ಒಳಗೆ ಬಂದರೆ ಒಂದೂ ಮಾತಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಮೌನ ಮೂಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಅವರು ಯಾರನ್ನೂ ಗದರಿಸಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

ಅಂಥ ತೇಜಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಈ ಅನುಷ್ಟುಪ್ ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಒಂದು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಹೋಲಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕುತ್ತದೆ. ಅದು ಹಗಲಿನ ಸೂರ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಕಾಣೆಯಾಗುವ ತಾರೆಗಳು.

महतां तादृशं तेजो यत्र शाम्यन्त्यनौजसः
अस्तं यान्ति प्रकाशेन तारका हि विवस्वतः

ಸುಭಾಷಿತ (IAST)

astaṃ yānti prakāśena tārakā hi vivasvataḥ

ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ

ಮಹತಾಂ (महतां, mahatāṃ) = ಮಹನೀಯರ (of the great)
ತಾದೃಶಂ (तादृशं, tādṛśaṃ) = ಅಂಥ (such)
ತೇಜೋ (तेजो, tejo) = ತೇಜಸ್ಸು (radiance)
ಯತ್ರ (यत्र, yatra) = ಯಾವುದರಲ್ಲಿ (in which)
ಶಾಮ್ಯಂತ್ಯನೌಜಸಃ (शाम्यन्त्यनौजसः, śāmyantyanaujasaḥ) = ಓಜಸ್ಸಿಲ್ಲದವರು ಶಾಂತರಾಗುತ್ತಾರೆ (the weak are quieted)
ಅಸ್ತಂ (अस्तं, astaṃ) = ಅಸ್ತವನ್ನು, ಅಂದರೆ ಮರೆಯಾಗುವುದನ್ನು (setting, going out of sight)
ಯಾಂತಿ (यान्ति, yānti) = ಹೊಂದುತ್ತವೆ (go to)
ಪ್ರಕಾಶೇನ (प्रकाशेन, prakāśena) = ಬೆಳಕಿನಿಂದ (by the light)
ತಾರಕಾ (तारका, tārakā) = ತಾರೆಗಳು (the stars)
ಹಿ (हि, hi) = ಅಲ್ಲವೇ, ಏಕೆಂದರೆ (for, indeed)
ವಿವಸ್ವತಃ (विवस्वतः, vivasvataḥ) = ಸೂರ್ಯನ (of the sun)

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)

ಮಹನೀಯರ ತೇಜಸ್ಸು ಎಂಥದು ಎಂದರೆ ಅದರ ಮುಂದೆ ಶಕ್ತಿಯಿಲ್ಲದವರು ಶಾಂತರಾಗುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಸೂರ್ಯನ ಬೆಳಕಿನಿಂದ ತಾರೆಗಳು ಮರೆಯಾಗುತ್ತವೆ ಅಲ್ಲವೇ.

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)

The radiance of the great is such that those without strength fall quiet before it. For the stars go out of sight in the light of the sun.

ಈ ಸುಭಾಷಿತದ ಬಗ್ಗೆAbout this subhashita

ತೇಜಸ್ ಎಂದರೆ ಕೇವಲ ಬೆಳಕಲ್ಲ, ಒಳಗಿನ ಕಸುವು ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಭಾವ. ಅನೌಜಸ್ ಎಂದರೆ ಅದರ ಸಹೋದರ ಶಕ್ತಿಯಾದ ಓಜಸ್ಸು ಇಲ್ಲದವರು.

Tejas means not mere light but inner force and influence. Anaujas means those who lack ojas, the force that goes with it.

ಹಗಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ತಾರೆಗಳು ಇಲ್ಲವಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಕಾಣದಾಗುತ್ತವೆ. ಉಪಮೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇದು ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮ. ಮಹನೀಯರು ಇತರರನ್ನು ನಾಶ ಮಾಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಅವರ ಮುಂದೆ ಇತರರು ಅಡಗುತ್ತಾರೆ.

In the day the stars do not cease to be, they cannot be seen. The point is fine. The great do not destroy others, others simply recede before them.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today

ಒಬ್ಬ ಹಿರಿಯ ವೈದ್ಯರ ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಸಬರು ಮೌನವಾಗುವುದನ್ನು ನಾವು ನೋಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಹಿರಿಯರು ತಮ್ಮ ತೇಜಸ್ಸು ಕಿರಿಯರನ್ನು ಅಡಗಿಸದೆ ಬೆಳಗಿಸುವಂತೆ ನೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದು.

We have seen newcomers fall silent in the presence of a senior physician. Seniors can take care that their radiance lights up the juniors rather than hiding them.

ಸೂರ್ಯನ ಬೆಳಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ತಾರೆ ಕಾಣದಿರುವುದು ತಾರೆಯ ದೋಷವಲ್ಲ. ತನ್ನ ಬೆಳಕು ಮಂಕಾದಾಗ ಕುಗ್ಗಬೇಕಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬುದೂ ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ಇದೆ ಎಂದು ಓದಬಹುದು.

A star going unseen in sunlight is no fault of the star. One may also read in this that a person need not shrink when their own light is outshone.
