ಮನಸ್ಯನ್ಯದ್ವಚಸ್ಯನ್ಯತ್: ಮನಸ್ಸು, ಮಾತು, ಕೆಲಸ ಮೂರು ದಿಕ್ಕಿನವರು

ವಾರ್ಡ್ ರೌಂಡ್ಸ್ ನಂತರ ಹಿರಿಯರೊಬ್ಬರು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೊಂದು, ಬರೆದ ಆದೇಶ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು, ನಿಜವಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದು ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಆದರೆ ಇಡೀ ತಂಡ ಗೊಂದಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೀಳುತ್ತದೆ. ಸರಿಯಾದ ಕೆಲಸಕ್ಕೆ ಮೊದಲ ಷರತ್ತು ಮಾತು ಮತ್ತು ಕೆಲಸ ಹೊಂದಿಕೆಯಾಗುವುದು.

ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಅದೇ ಹೊಂದಾಣಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಅಳತೆಗೋಲಾಗಿ ಬಳಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಅನುಷ್ಟುಪ್ ಛಂದಸ್ಸಿನ ಎರಡು ಸಾಲುಗಳು ಒಂದರ ಮೇಲೊಂದು ಕನ್ನಡಿಯಂತೆ ಇವೆ.

ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ

ಮನಸ್ಯನ್ಯದ್ (मनस्यन्यद्, manasyanyad) = ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು (one thing in the mind)
ವಚಸ್ಯನ್ಯತ್ (वचस्यन्यत्, vacasyanyat) = ಮಾತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು (another in speech)
ಕಾರ್ಯೇ (कार्ये, kārye) = ಕೆಲಸದಲ್ಲಿ (in the deed)
ಚಾನ್ಯದ್ (चान्यद्, cānyad) = ಮತ್ತು ಬೇರೊಂದು (and yet another)
ದುರಾತ್ಮನಾಮ್ (दुरात्मनाम्, durātmanām) = ದುಷ್ಟಾತ್ಮರಿಗೆ (for the evil-minded)
ಮನಸ್ಯೇಕಂ (मनस्येकं, manasyekaṃ) = ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದೇ (one thing in the mind)
ವಚಸ್ಯೇಕಂ (वचस्येकं, vacasyekaṃ) = ಮಾತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದೇ (one in speech)

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)

ದುಷ್ಟಾತ್ಮರಿಗೆ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು, ಮಾತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು, ಕೆಲಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು. ಮಹಾತ್ಮರಿಗೆ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲೂ ಮಾತಿನಲ್ಲೂ ಕೆಲಸದಲ್ಲೂ ಒಂದೇ.

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)

For the evil-minded it is one thing in the mind, another in speech, and yet another in deed. For the great-souled it is one thing in mind, in speech and in action.

ಈ ಸುಭಾಷಿತದ ಬಗ್ಗೆAbout this subhashita

ಎರಡು ಸಾಲುಗಳು ಒಂದೇ ಚೌಕಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇವೆ. ಮೊದಲಿನದರಲ್ಲಿ ಅನ್ಯತ್ ಮೂರು ಬಾರಿ, ಎರಡನೆಯದರಲ್ಲಿ ಏಕಂ ಮೂರು ಬಾರಿ ಬರುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ಪುನರಾವರ್ತನೆಯೇ ಹೋಲಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಕಿವಿಗೆ ತಲುಪಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

The two lines share one frame. Anyat comes three times in the first and ekam three times in the second. The repetition carries the contrast to the ear.

ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾರ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಕರ್ಮ ಎರಡೂ ಕೆಲಸ ಎಂಬ ಅರ್ಥದಲ್ಲಿವೆ. ಮನಸ್ಸು, ವಾಕ್ ಮತ್ತು ಕರ್ಮ ಎಂಬ ಮೂರರ ಜೋಡಿ ಹಳೆಯ ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಬರುವುದನ್ನು ಗಮನಿಸಬಹುದು.

Karya and karma both mean deed here. The triad of mind, speech and action appears often in older tradition.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today

ಇದೊಂದು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಸ್ವಪರೀಕ್ಷೆ. ಯಾವ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಮಾತು ನಮ್ಮ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗಿಂತ ಬೇರೆ ಇದೆ ಎಂದು ವಾರಕ್ಕೊಮ್ಮೆ ನೋಡಿದರೆ ಸಾಕು.

This is a good self-examination. Once a week it is enough to ask where our words differ from what is in our mind.

ಆದರೆ ಯಾರ ಮನಸ್ಸನ್ನೂ ನಾವು ನೋಡಲಾರೆವು. ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ಇತರರ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತು ಮತ್ತು ಕೆಲಸ ಒಂದಕ್ಕೊಂದು ಹೊಂದುತ್ತವೆಯೇ ಎಂದು ಮಾತ್ರ ನೋಡಬಹುದು.

But we cannot see anyone’s mind. So in others we can only see whether word and deed agree with each other.
