ಈಷಲ್ಲಬ್ಧಪ್ರವೇಶೋಽಪಿ: ಕಡೆಗೋಲಿನಂತೆ ಕುಣಿಯುವ ದುರ್ಜನ

ಮಜ್ಜಿಗೆ ಕಡೆಯುವಾಗ ಕಡೆಗೋಲು ಮಡಕೆಯೊಳಗೆ ತಿರುಗುತ್ತಲೇ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ. ಮೊಸರು ಕಲಕುತ್ತದೆ, ಕೊನೆಗೆ ಬೆಣ್ಣೆ ಬೇರೆಯಾಗಿ ತೇಲುತ್ತದೆ.

ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಅದೇ ದೃಶ್ಯವನ್ನು ದುರ್ಜನನಿಗೆ ಅನ್ವಯಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದೊಂದು ಅನುಷ್ಟುಪ್ ಶ್ಲೋಕ.

ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ

ಈಷಲ್ಲಬ್ಧಪ್ರವೇಶೋಽಪಿ (ईषल्लब्धप्रवेशोऽपि, īṣallabdhapraveśo’pi) = ಸ್ವಲ್ಪವೇ ಪ್ರವೇಶ ಪಡೆದರೂ (even when only a slight entry has been gained)
ಸ್ನೇಹವಿಚ್ಛೇದಕಾರಕಃ (स्नेहविच्छेदकारकः, snehavicchedakārakaḥ) = ಸ್ನೇಹವನ್ನು ಕಡಿಯುವವನು (the cutter of affection)
ಕೃತಕ್ಷೋಭೋ (कृतक्षोभो, kṛtakṣobho) = ಕಲಕುವಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದವನು (having stirred up agitation)
ನರೀನರ್ತಿ (नरीनर्ति, narīnarti) = ಮತ್ತೆ ಮತ್ತೆ ಕುಣಿಯುತ್ತಾನೆ (dances again and again)
ಖಲೋ (खलो, khalo) = ದುಷ್ಟನು (the wicked one)
ಮಂಥಾನದಂಡವತ್ (मन्थानदण्डवत्, manthānadaṇḍavat) = ಕಡೆಗೋಲಿನಂತೆ (like a churning staff)

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)

ದುರ್ಜನನಿಗೆ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪವೇ ಒಳಗೆ ಪ್ರವೇಶ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದರೂ ಸಾಕು. ಅವನು ಗೊಂದಲವೆಬ್ಬಿಸಿ ಸ್ನೇಹವನ್ನು ಕಡಿಯುತ್ತಾನೆ, ಕಡೆಗೋಲಿನಂತೆ ಮತ್ತೆ ಮತ್ತೆ ಕುಣಿಯುತ್ತಾನೆ.

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)

Even when the wicked man has gained only a slight entry, he cuts the thread of affection. Having stirred up trouble, he dances again and again, like a churning staff.

ಈ ಸುಭಾಷಿತದ ಬಗ್ಗೆAbout this subhashita

ಸ್ನೇಹ ಪದಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಎಂಬುದರ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಬೆಣ್ಣೆ ಮತ್ತು ಎಣ್ಣೆ ಎಂಬ ಅರ್ಥಗಳೂ ಇವೆ. ಕಡೆಗೋಲು ಬೆಣ್ಣೆಯನ್ನು ಬೇರ್ಪಡಿಸುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂಬ ಶ್ಲೇಷೆ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಅಡಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ತೋರುತ್ತದೆ.

The word sneha means affection, and also butter or oil. A pun seems hidden here: the churning staff separates the butter just as he separates friends.

ಈಷತ್ ಎಂದರೆ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ. ಬಾಗಿಲೊಳಗೆ ಒಂದು ಹೆಜ್ಜೆ ಇಡುವಷ್ಟು ಸಲುಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕರೂ ಸಾಕು ಎಂಬುದೇ ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆ. ನರೀನರ್ತಿ ಎಂದರೆ ಮತ್ತೆ ಮತ್ತೆ ಕುಣಿಯುವುದು, ಹಗ್ಗದ ಎಳೆತಕ್ಕೆ ಕಡೆಗೋಲು ಅತ್ತಿತ್ತ ಆಡುವ ಚಿತ್ರ.

Ishat means a little. The warning is that one step inside the door is enough. Narinarti means dancing again and again, the picture of the staff swinging to and fro with the pull of the rope.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today

ತಂಡ, ಕುಟುಂಬ ಅಥವಾ ಸ್ನೇಹ ವೃತ್ತದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಸಣ್ಣ ಚಾಡಿ ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ಹೇಗೆ ಕಲಕುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದರೆ ಈ ಹೋಲಿಕೆ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ಕಾಣುತ್ತದೆ. ಸಲುಗೆ ಕೊಡುವ ಮುನ್ನ ಒಂದು ಕ್ಷಣ ಯೋಚಿಸುವುದು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದು.

Watch how one small piece of gossip stirs up a team, a family or a circle of friends, and the comparison looks apt. It is good to pause a moment before granting easy access.

ಹೊಸಬರನ್ನೆಲ್ಲ ಅನುಮಾನಿಸಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ಸಲುಗೆ ಕೊಡುವ ಮುನ್ನ ನಡತೆಯನ್ನು ಗಮನಿಸಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಮಾತ್ರ ಸೂಚಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

The verse does not ask us to suspect every newcomer. It only suggests watching conduct before giving easy access.
