ಕ್ಲಿನಿಕ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ರೋಗಿಯ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಕರೊಬ್ಬರು ಕೂಗಾಡಿ ಅನ್ಯಾಯವಾಗಿ ಬೈದುಹೋದ ದಿನ, ಅನುಭವಿ ವೈದ್ಯರು ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ಮುಂದಿನ ರೋಗಿಯನ್ನು ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಒಳಗೆ ಏನೂ ಕುದಿಯುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬಷ್ಟು ಶಾಂತವಾಗಿ ಇರುವುದು ಅವರಿಂದ ಕಲಿಯುವ ಪಾಠ.

ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಅಂತಹ ಮನಸ್ಥಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಖಗೋಳದ ಒಂದು ಚಿತ್ರದಿಂದ ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಛಂದಸ್ಸಿನ ನಿರ್ದಿಷ್ಟ ಹೆಸರು ಖಚಿತವಿಲ್ಲ, ಪ್ರತಿ ಸಾಲಿಗೆ ಸುಮಾರು 28 ಅಕ್ಷರ.

ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ

ನಾಂತರ್ವಿಚಿಂತಯತಿ (नान्तर्विचिन्तयति, nāntarvicintayati) = ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಯೋಚಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ (does not think within)
ಕಿಂಚಿದಪಿ (किञ्चिदपि, kiñcidapi) = ಸ್ವಲ್ಪವಾದರೂ (anything at all)
ಪ್ರತೀಪಮಾಕೋಪಿತೋಽಪಿ (प्रतीपमाकोपितोऽपि, pratīpamākopito’pi) = ವಿರೋಧವಾದದ್ದನ್ನು, ಕೆರಳಿಸಿದರೂ ಸಹ (hostile, even when provoked)

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)

ಚಾಡಿಕೋರ ಎಷ್ಟೇ ಕೆರಳಿಸಿದರೂ ಸುಜನ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನೊಳಗೆ ಯಾವ ಪ್ರತಿಕೂಲ ಕೆಡುಕನ್ನೂ ಯೋಚಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಸೂರ್ಯನ ಶತ್ರುವಿನ ಬಾಯಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ತುದಿ ಬಿದ್ದರೂ ಚಂದ್ರನ ಕಿರಣಗಳು ಅಮೃತವನ್ನೇ ಚೆಲ್ಲುತ್ತವಲ್ಲವೇ.

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)

However much a slanderer provokes him, the good person thinks no hostile or evil thought within. Even when they fall on the mouth of the sun’s enemy, the moon’s rays pour out only nectar.

ಈ ಸುಭಾಷಿತದ ಬಗ್ಗೆAbout this subhashita

ಅರ್ಕದ್ವಿಷ್ ಎಂದರೆ ಸೂರ್ಯನ ಶತ್ರು. ಇದನ್ನು ಗ್ರಹಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೂರ್ಯನನ್ನು ನುಂಗುವ ರಾಹು ಎಂದು ನಾವು ಓದಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಬೇರೆ ವ್ಯಾಖ್ಯಾನ ಇರಬಹುದು, ಆದರೆ ಚಿತ್ರ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಅರ್ಥವತ್ತಾಗುವುದು ಹೀಗೆ.

Arkadvish means the sun’s enemy. We read it as Rahu, who swallows the sun in an eclipse. Other readings may exist, but the picture is most telling this way.

ತಾರಾಪತಿ ಎಂದರೆ ನಕ್ಷತ್ರಗಳ ಒಡೆಯ, ಅಂದರೆ ಚಂದ್ರ. ಕಿರಣಗಳ ತುದಿ ಬೀಳುವ ಜಾಗ ಶತ್ರುವಿನ ಬಾಯಿ ಆದರೂ ಬರುವುದು ಅಮೃತವೇ ಎಂಬುದು ಉಪಮೆಯ ತಿರುಳು.

Tarapati means lord of the stars, that is the moon. The core of the image is that though the rays land on an enemy’s mouth, what arrives is still nectar.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today

ಕೆರಳಿಸುವವನು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮ ಸ್ವಭಾವದಿಂದ ಹೊರಗೆ ಎಳೆಯಲು ನೋಡುತ್ತಾನೆ. ನಾವು ಎಳೆಯಲು ಬಿಡದಿರುವುದೇ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಕೊಡಬಹುದಾದ ಶಾಂತ ಉತ್ತರ.

The one who provokes tries to pull us out of our nature. Refusing to be pulled is the quiet answer we can give him.

ಇದು ಅನ್ಯಾಯವನ್ನು ಸಹಿಸಬೇಕೆಂಬ ಸೂಚನೆಯಲ್ಲ. ಒಳಗೆ ದ್ವೇಷವನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳದೆ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿದ್ದರೆ ಕ್ರಮ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದು.

This is not a call to tolerate wrong. One can take needed action without nursing hatred within.
