ಅಭೇದೇನೋಪಾಸ್ತೇ ಕುಮುದಂ: ಭೇದ ನೋಡದ ಜೇನುನೊಣದ ಸೇವೆ

ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯ ಹೊರರೋಗಿ ವಿಭಾಗದ ಸಾಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಹುಕಾರನೂ ಕೂಲಿಯವನೂ ಒಂದೇ ಬೆಂಚಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿತಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ಇಬ್ಬರನ್ನೂ ಒಂದೇ ರೀತಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.

ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಆ ಸಮತ್ವವನ್ನು ಜೇನುನೊಣದ ಉದಾಹರಣೆಯ ಮೂಲಕ ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದು ಒಂದು ಸಾಲಿಗೆ ಸುಮಾರು ಮೂವತ್ತನಾಲ್ಕು ಅಕ್ಷರಗಳ, ನಾಲ್ಕು ಪಾದಗಳ ವೃತ್ತ.

ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ

ಅಭೇದೇನ (अभेदेन, abhedena) = ಭೇದವಿಲ್ಲದೆ (without distinction)
ಉಪಾಸ್ತೇ (उपास्ते, upāste) = ಸೇವಿಸುತ್ತದೆ (attends upon)
ಕುಮುದಮ್ (कुमुदम्, kumudam) = ಕುಮುದವನ್ನು, ರಾತ್ರಿ ಅರಳುವ ನೈದಿಲೆಯನ್ನು (the kumuda, the night blooming lily)
ಉದರೇ ವಾ ಸ್ಥಿತವತಃ (उदरे वा स्थितवतः, udare vā sthitavataḥ) = ಅದರ ಒಳಗೇ ಇದ್ದದ್ದಾದರೂ (even if it has been sitting in its belly)
ವಿಪಕ್ಷಾತ್ ಅಂಭೋಜಾತ್ (विपक्षात् अम्भोजात्, vipakṣāt ambhojāt) = ವಿರೋಧಿಯಾದ ಕಮಲದಿಂದ (from the rival, the lotus)

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)

ಜೇನುನೊಣ ತನ್ನ ಒಡಲಲ್ಲೇ ಇದ್ದ ಕುಮುದವನ್ನೂ, ವಿರೋಧಿಯಾದ ಕಮಲದಿಂದ ಬಂದು ಸೇರಿದ ಕುಮುದವನ್ನೂ ಭೇದವಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಸೇವಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಸಜ್ಜನರು ತನ್ನವರನ್ನೂ ಪರರನ್ನೂ ಸೇವಿಸುವ ಈ ಅಳತೆ ಮೀರಿದ ರೀತಿ ಯಾವ ಲೆಕ್ಕಾಚಾರವೂ ಇಲ್ಲದ್ದರಿಂದ ಸಿಹಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕದ ಪದಗಳ ಜೋಡಣೆ ಕಷ್ಟವಾದದ್ದು, ನಮ್ಮ ಅರ್ಥ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಸಹಜವಾದುದನ್ನು ಆರಿಸಿದೆ.

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)

The bee attends upon the night lily without distinction, whether it has stayed within it or has come from the rival lotus. In the same way, the good serve their own and others with a boundless habit, and it is sweet because it carries no calculation. The wording of this verse is hard to join up, and we have chosen the most natural sense.

ಈ ಸುಭಾಷಿತದ ಬಗ್ಗೆAbout this subhashita

ಕುಮುದ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಅರಳುತ್ತದೆ, ಕಮಲ ಹಗಲು. ಅವು ಒಂದಕ್ಕೊಂದು ವಿರೋಧಿ ಎಂದು ಕವಿಗಳು ಹೇಳುವುದು ವಾಡಿಕೆ. ಜೇನುನೊಣ ಆ ವಿರೋಧವನ್ನು ನೋಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬುದು ಹೋಲಿಕೆಯ ಹೃದಯ.

The kumuda opens at night and the lotus by day. Poets customarily call them rivals. The heart of the comparison is that the bee does not see that rivalry.

ಅನಭಿಸಂಧಾನ ಎಂದರೆ ಯಾವ ಕುತಂತ್ರ ಅಥವಾ ಲೆಕ್ಕಾಚಾರವೂ ಇಲ್ಲದಿರುವುದು. ಮಾಧುರ್ಯ ಇರುವುದು ಸೇವೆಯ ಫಲದಲ್ಲಲ್ಲ, ಅದರ ಹಿಂದೆ ಏನೂ ಇಲ್ಲದಿರುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ಎಂಬುದು ಇಲ್ಲಿಯ ಮಾತು.

Anabhisandhana means being without any scheme or calculation. The sweetness lies not in the fruit of the service but in the absence of anything behind it.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today

ಒಬ್ಬ ರೋಗಿ ಯಾರೇ ಇರಲಿ ಅವನ ಮುಂದೆ ಅದೇ ತಾಳ್ಮೆಯಿಂದ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು ವೈದ್ಯನ ಸಹಜ ಧರ್ಮ ಎಂದು ನಮಗೆ ಅನಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದನ್ನು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿಕೊಡುವುದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ತೋರಿಸುವುದೇ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಪರಿಣಾಮಕಾರಿ.

It seems to us a natural duty of a doctor to sit with the same patience before any patient. Showing this to students works better than telling them.

ಭೇದವಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಎಂದರೆ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ಕೊಡುವುದು ಎಂದಲ್ಲ. ಗೌರವದ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಭೇದ ಮಾಡದಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿದೆ ಎಂದು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತ.

Without distinction does not mean giving everything to everyone. It is safer to take the verse as speaking of not making distinctions in respect.
