The wicked grow angry for no cause and grow pleased for no cause. Such is their nature, like a drifting cloud.
About this subhashita
Pariplava means floating or drifting. A cloud has no direction of its own and goes where the wind takes it. The same comparison is applied to the mind here.
Both the anger and the pleasure are called causeless. So the fault is not anger alone: even the warmth cannot be relied on, the poet suggests.

For life today
If we meet such a person at work today, the calm way is not to read too much into their praise or their displeasure. Their mood is the weather, not our fault.
Yet it is wrong to call everyone whose mood shifts wicked. The verse speaks of those who change with no cause at all, and again and again.
