ಸ್ಪೃಹಣೀಯಾಃ ಕಸ್ಯ ನ ತೇ: ಹೃದಯ, ಮಾತು, ನಡತೆ ಒಂದೇ ಆದವರು

ಕೆಲವು ವೈದ್ಯರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ರೋಗಿಗಳು ಹೇಳುವ ಮಾತು ಒಂದೇ: ಅವರು ಏನು ಯೋಚಿಸುತ್ತಾರೋ ಅದನ್ನೇ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಏನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೋ ಅದನ್ನೇ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅಂಥವರ ಮುಂದೆ ಕುಳಿತಾಗ ಮನಸ್ಸು ಹಗುರವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.

ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಅದನ್ನೇ ಮೂರು ಪದಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ: ಹೃದಯ, ವಚನ ಮತ್ತು ಆಚಾರ. ಇವು ಮೂರೂ ಒಂದೇ ಆಗಿರುವವರನ್ನು ಬುದ್ಧಿವಂತರು ಯಾರು ಬಯಸದಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಶ್ನಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

स्पृहणीयाः कस्य न ते सुमतेः सरलाशया महात्मानः
त्रयमपि येषां सदृशं हृदयं वचनं तथाचारः

ಸುಭಾಷಿತ (IAST)

ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ

ಸ್ಪೃಹಣೀಯಾಃ (स्पृहणीयाः, spṛhaṇīyāḥ) = ಬಯಸಬೇಕಾದವರು (worthy of longing)
ಕಸ್ಯ (कस्य, kasya) = ಯಾರಿಗೆ (to whom)
ನ (न, na) = ಇಲ್ಲ (not)
ತೇ (ते, te) = ಅವರು (they)
ಸುಮತೇಃ (सुमतेः, sumateḥ) = ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಬುದ್ಧಿಯವನಿಗೆ (to one of good sense)
ಸರಲಾಶಯಾ (सरलाशया, saralāśayā) = ಸರಳ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನವರು (of straightforward mind)
ಮಹಾತ್ಮಾನಃ (महात्मानः, mahātmānaḥ) = ಮಹಾತ್ಮರು (the great souls)
ತ್ರಯಮಪಿ (त्रयमपि, trayamapi) = ಮೂರೂ (all three)
ಯೇಷಾಂ (येषां, yeṣāṃ) = ಯಾರಿಗೆ (of whom)
ಸದೃಶಂ (सदृशं, sadṛśaṃ) = ಸಮಾನವಾಗಿದೆ (alike)
ಹೃದಯಂ (हृदयं, hṛdayaṃ) = ಹೃದಯ (heart)
ವಚನಂ (वचनं, vacanaṃ) = ಮಾತು (word)
ತಥಾಚಾರಃ (तथाचारः, tathācāraḥ) = ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ನಡತೆ (and likewise conduct)

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)

ಹೃದಯ, ಮಾತು ಮತ್ತು ನಡತೆ ಈ ಮೂರೂ ಯಾರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದೇ ರೀತಿ ಇರುವುದೋ, ಆ ಸರಳ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನ ಮಹಾತ್ಮರನ್ನು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಬುದ್ಧಿಯುಳ್ಳವರಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾರು ಬಯಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)

Those great souls of straightforward mind, in whom heart, word and conduct are all alike: which person of good sense would not long to be like them.

ಈ ಸುಭಾಷಿತದ ಬಗ್ಗೆAbout this subhashita

ತ್ರಯಮಪಿ ಎಂಬ ಮಾತು ಮೂರನ್ನೂ ಒಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ. ಎರಡು ಒಂದಾದರೆ ಸಾಲದು, ಮೂರೂ ಒಂದಾಗಬೇಕು ಎಂಬುದು ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಬಿಗಿ.

The word trayam api names all three together. Two in agreement are not enough, all three must agree, and that is the firmness here.

ಸರಳ ಆಶಯ ಎಂದರೆ ಸುತ್ತು ಬಳಸಿಲ್ಲದ ಮನಸ್ಸು. ಸರಳವಾಗಿರುವುದು ದಡ್ಡತನ ಎಂದು ಅರ್ಥವಲ್ಲ, ಅಡಗಿಸಲು ಏನೂ ಇಲ್ಲದ ಸ್ಥಿತಿ ಎಂದು ಅರ್ಥ.

Sarala ashaya is a mind without twists. Being straightforward does not mean being foolish, it means having nothing to hide.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today

ಮಾತಿಗೂ ನಡತೆಗೂ ಅಂತರ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾದಷ್ಟೂ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನ ಹೊರೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚುತ್ತದೆ. ಏನು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇವೆ ಎಂದು ನೆನಪಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದೇ ಒಂದು ಕೆಲಸವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.

The wider the gap between word and conduct, the heavier the mind grows. Remembering what we said becomes a chore in itself.

ಮೂರನ್ನೂ ಒಂದುಗೂಡಿಸುವುದು ಒಂದೇ ದಿನದ ಕೆಲಸವಲ್ಲ. ಇಂದು ಒಂದು ಸಣ್ಣ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಿದಂತೆ ನಡೆದರೂ ಒಂದು ಹೆಜ್ಜೆ.

Joining the three is not the work of a single day. Even acting today as we said in one small matter is a step.
