ಆನಿ ತಿರುಮಂಜನವೆಂದರೆ ತಮಿಳಿನ ಆನಿ ತಿಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ, ಅಂದರೆ ಜೂನ್ ಅಥವಾ ಜುಲೈನಲ್ಲಿ, ಉತ್ತರ ಫಲ್ಗುಣಿ (ಉತ್ತಿರಂ) ನಕ್ಷತ್ರದಂದು ಚಿದಂಬರಂನಲ್ಲಿ ನಟರಾಜನಿಗೆ ನಡೆಯುವ ಮಹಾಭಿಷೇಕ.
ಆಚರಿಸುವ ರೀತಿ
ಚಿದಂಬರಂನಲ್ಲಿ ಹತ್ತು ದಿನಗಳ ಉತ್ಸವ ಮತ್ತು ಹಿಂದಿನ ದಿನದ ರಥೋತ್ಸವದ ನಂತರ, ಆನಿ ತಿಂಗಳ ಉತ್ತಿರಂ ನಕ್ಷತ್ರದ ಮುಂಜಾನೆ ನಟರಾಜ ಮತ್ತು ಶಿವಕಾಮಿಯರಿಗೆ ತಿರುಮಂಜನವೆಂಬ ಮಹಾಭಿಷೇಕ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಬಳಿಕ ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನದ ಹೊತ್ತಿಗೆ ‘ಆನಿ ತಿರುಮಂಜನ ದರ್ಶನಂ’ ಎನ್ನುವ ನೃತ್ಯದೊಂದಿಗೆ ದೇವರ ದರ್ಶನವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ತಮಿಳುನಾಡಿನಾದ್ಯಂತ ಇರುವ ಶಿವ ದೇವಾಲಯಗಳು ನಟರಾಜನಿಗಾಗಿ ಈ ದಿನವನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸುತ್ತವೆ.
ಕಥೆ
ಚಿದಂಬರಂನ ನಟರಾಜನಿಗೆ ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಆರು ಮಹಾಭಿಷೇಕಗಳು ನಡೆಯುತ್ತವೆ. ಮಾರ್ಗಳಿ ತಿಂಗಳ ಆರ್ದ್ರಾ ದರ್ಶನದ ಜೊತೆಗೆ, ಆನಿ ತಿಂಗಳ ಉತ್ತಿರಂ ದಿನದ ಈ ಅಭಿಷೇಕವೂ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಪ್ರಮುಖವಾದ ಎರಡು ಮಹಾಭಿಷೇಕಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಾಗಿದೆ. ಪತಂಜಲಿ ಮತ್ತು ವ್ಯಾಗ್ರಪಾದ ಮುನಿಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಶಿವನು ಚಿದಂಬರಂನಲ್ಲಿ ಆನಂದ ತಾಂಡವವಾಡಿದನೆಂದು ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದ ಪರಂಪರೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ; ಆ ನೃತ್ಯದ ಸಂಭ್ರಮವನ್ನೇ ಈ ಹಬ್ಬ ಆಚರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
ಅನುದಿನ ಕೊಡುವ ದಿನ
ತಮಿಳು ಸೌರಮಾನದ ಆನಿ ತಿಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ, ಸೂರ್ಯೋದಯದ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಉತ್ತರ ಫಲ್ಗುಣಿ (ಉತ್ತಿರಂ) ನಕ್ಷತ್ರವಿರುವ ದಿನವನ್ನು ಅನುದಿನ ಆ್ಯಪ್ ನೀಡುತ್ತದೆ. ತಿಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡು ದಿನಗಳ ಸೂರ್ಯೋದಯಕ್ಕೆ ಈ ನಕ್ಷತ್ರವಿದ್ದರೆ, ಎರಡನೆಯ ದಿನವನ್ನೇ ಲೆಕ್ಕಕ್ಕೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತದೆ.
ಇದು ತಮಿಳುನಾಡಿನ ಆಚರಣೆ. ಅನುದಿನ ಇದನ್ನು ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಭಾರತದ ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯದಲ್ಲಿ ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ; ಉತ್ತರ ಭಾರತದ ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯದಲ್ಲಿ ‘ಇತರ ಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳ ಹಬ್ಬಗಳನ್ನೂ ತೋರಿಸಿ’ ಎಂಬ ಆಯ್ಕೆಯನ್ನು ಆನ್ ಮಾಡಿದಾಗ ಮಾತ್ರ ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಶೈವ ಸಿದ್ಧಾಂತ ಪರಂಪರೆಯನ್ನು ಆಯ್ದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಓದುಗರು ಎಲ್ಲೇ ಇದ್ದರೂ ಇದನ್ನು ನೋಡಬಹುದು.
ಈ ನಿಯಮವನ್ನು ಚಿದಂಬರಂನ 2024ರ ಜುಲೈ 12ರ ದಿನಾಂಕದೊಂದಿಗೆ ತಾಳೆ ನೋಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ (HinduPad). ದಿನಾಂಕ ಸಹಿತ ಸಿಕ್ಕ ಆಧಾರ ಇದೊಂದೇ. 2026ರ ಜೂನ್ 22ರ ದಿನಾಂಕವು ನಿಯಮದಿಂದಲೇ ಬಂದಿದ್ದು, ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಬೇರೆ ಆಧಾರಗಳಿಲ್ಲ.

How it is kept
At Chidambaram, at dawn on Uthiram in Aani, Nataraja and Sivakami are given the great abhisheka, the thirumanjanam, after the ten days of the festival and the car festival of the day before. Then, around noon, the deity comes out in the dance known as the Aani Thirumanjana darisanam. Shiva temples across the Tamil country keep the day for Nataraja.
The story
Nataraja at Chidambaram receives six great abhishekas a year, and the one on Uthiram in Aani is one of the two greatest, with Arudra Darshanam in Margazhi. The temple’s tradition holds that at Chidambaram Shiva danced the Ananda Tandava for the sages Patanjali and Vyaghrapada, and the festival celebrates that dance.
Which day Anudina gives
Anudina gives the day on which Uttara Phalguni (Uthiram) is the star at sunrise in the Tamil solar month of Aani. When the star holds at sunrise on two days of the month, the later day is taken.
It is a Tamil observance. Anudina shows it under the South Indian custom, and under the North Indian custom only when “Show festivals of other regions too” is turned on. A reader who ticks the Shaiva Siddhanta lineage in the Tradition sheet sees it too, wherever they are.
The rule was compared with 12 July 2024 at Chidambaram (HinduPad). Only that one dated source was found. The date for 2026, 22 June, comes from the rule alone and has no source of its own.
