ಅಯಂ ಸ್ವಭಾವಃ ಸ್ವತ ಏವ: ಬಿಸಿಲಿನ ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನು ತಣಿಸುವ ಚಂದ್ರ

ಬೇಸಿಗೆಯ ಒಂದು ದಿನ ಬಿಸಿಲಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಂದು ಸಂಜೆ ಮನೆಯ ಅಂಗಳಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದರೆ ತಂಗಾಳಿ ಮತ್ತು ಬೆಳದಿಂಗಳು ಮೈಮನಕ್ಕೆ ಆರಾಮ ಕೊಡುತ್ತವೆ. ಅದನ್ನು ಯಾರೂ ನಮ್ಮಿಂದ ಏನನ್ನೂ ಕೇಳಿ ಕೊಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

ಅಂಥ ಸಹಜ ಉಪಕಾರವೇ ಮಹಾತ್ಮರ ಸ್ವಭಾವ ಎಂದು ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದು ನಾಲ್ಕು ಪಾದಗಳ ವೃತ್ತದಲ್ಲಿದೆ.

ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ

ಅಯಂ (अयं, ayaṃ) = ಇದು (this)
ಸ್ವಭಾವಃ (स्वभावः, svabhāvaḥ) = ಸ್ವಭಾವ (nature)
ಸ್ವತ ಏವ (स्वत एव, svata eva) = ತಾನಾಗಿಯೇ (of its own accord)
ಯತ್ಪರಶ್ರಮಾಪನೋದಪ್ರವಣಂ (यत्परश्रमापनोदप्रवणं, yatparaśramāpanodapravaṇaṃ) = ಇತರರ ಶ್ರಮವನ್ನು ನೀಗಿಸಲು ಒಲವುಳ್ಳದ್ದು ಎಂಬುದು (that which is inclined to remove the weariness of others)
ಮಹಾತ್ಮನಾಮ್ (महात्मनाम्, mahātmanām) = ಮಹಾತ್ಮರ (of the great-souled)

ಕ್ಷಿತಿಂ (क्षितिं, kṣitiṃ) = ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನು (the earth)
ಕಿಲ (किल, kila) = ಅಲ್ಲವೇ (as is well known)

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)

ಇತರರ ಶ್ರಮವನ್ನು ನೀಗಿಸಲು ಒಲಿಯುವುದು ಮಹಾತ್ಮರ ಸ್ವಭಾವ, ಅದು ತಾನಾಗಿಯೇ ಬರುವಂಥದು. ಸೂರ್ಯನ ಕರ್ಕಶ ಕಿರಣಗಳಿಂದ ಬೆಂದ ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನು ಈ ಚಂದ್ರನು ತಾನಾಗಿಯೇ ಕಾಪಾಡುತ್ತಾನಲ್ಲವೇ.

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)

It is the nature of the great-souled to be inclined of their own accord to remove the weariness of others. Is it not so that this moon, of himself, protects the earth scorched by the harsh rays of the sun?

ಈ ಸುಭಾಷಿತದ ಬಗ್ಗೆAbout this subhashita

ಸುಧಾಂಶು ಎಂದರೆ ಅಮೃತ ಕಿರಣಗಳುಳ್ಳವನು, ಚಂದ್ರ. ಅರ್ಕ ಎಂದರೆ ಸೂರ್ಯ. ಒಂದೇ ಆಕಾಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಸಿ ಮತ್ತು ತಂಪು ಎರಡನ್ನೂ ಕವಿ ಅಕ್ಕಪಕ್ಕ ಇಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾನೆ.

Sudhamshu means he of the nectar rays, the moon. Arka means the sun. The poet sets heat and coolness side by side in one sky.

ಸ್ವತ ಏವ ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ವಯಂ ಎಂಬ ಎರಡು ಪದಗಳು ಒಂದೇ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಒತ್ತುತ್ತವೆ: ಯಾರೂ ಕೇಳದೆ, ತನ್ನ ಒಳಗಿನ ಪ್ರೇರಣೆಯಿಂದಲೇ.

The two words svata eva and svayam press one point: unasked, from an inner pull alone.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today

ಕೇಳಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೊಡುವ ಸಹಾಯಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಕೇಳುವ ಮೊದಲೇ ಗುರುತಿಸುವ ಸಹಾಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಬೆಲೆ. ದಣಿದ ಸಹೋದ್ಯೋಗಿಯ ಕೆಲಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಕೈಜೋಡಿಸುವುದು ಅದರ ಒಂದು ರೂಪ.

Help noticed before it is asked for is worth more than help given after asking. Lending a hand with a tired colleague’s work is one form of it.

ಉಪಕಾರ ಸ್ವಭಾವವಾಗಲು ಅಭ್ಯಾಸ ಬೇಕು. ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಮಹಾತ್ಮರನ್ನು ಹೊಗಳುತ್ತಿದೆ, ಆದರೆ ಅದು ನಮಗೂ ದಿಕ್ಕು ತೋರಿಸಬಹುದು.

For kindness to become a nature, practice is needed. The verse praises the great-souled, but it may point a direction for us too.
