ಭಂಡಸ್ತಾಂಡವಮಂಡಪೇ: ತನ್ನ ಅಂಗಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ಧೀರರಾದವರು

ಮನೆಯ ಅಂಗಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೊಗಳುವ ನಾಯಿ ಬೇರೆ ಬೀದಿಗೆ ಹೋದಾಗ ಬಾಲ ಮುದುರಿಕೊಂಡು ನಡೆಯುವುದನ್ನು ನಾವು ನೋಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಧೈರ್ಯ ಅದರ ಸ್ವಭಾವವಲ್ಲ, ಅದು ನಿಂತ ನೆಲದ ಧೈರ್ಯ.

ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಹಲವು ಅಂಥ ಪಾತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಒಂದರ ಹಿಂದೆ ಒಂದರಂತೆ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಎರಡು ಸಾಲುಗಳ ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕದ ಛಂದಸ್ಸಿನ ಹೆಸರು ಖಚಿತವಿಲ್ಲ.

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)

ಭಂಡ ನೃತ್ಯಮಂಟಪದಲ್ಲಿ, ಕೌದಿ ಕವಿ ಹೊಗಳಿಕೆಯ ಮಾತಿನ ಬೀದಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ, ಹಟ್ಟಿಯ ನಾಯಿ ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಯ ಅಂಗಳದಲ್ಲಿ, ಇಲಿ ತನ್ನ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಬಿಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಚುರುಕಾಗಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ವಿಟ ತಿನ್ನುವ ಶೂರತನದಿಂದ ರಾಜನ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಜಾಣತನ ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಆದರೆ ಬೇರೆಡೆ ಹೋದಾಗ ಅವರು ಕೊಳದಿಂದ ಎಳೆದ ಆಮೆಯಂತಾಗುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಇದೊಂದು ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯ.

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)

The buffoon is bold in the dance hall, the patchwork poet in the lanes of flattering talk, the cowpen dog in his own courtyard, the mouse plainly in his hillside hole. The rake shows his skill in the king’s house through his bravery over the morsel. But elsewhere they all come to resemble a tortoise dragged from its pond, which is a wonder.

ಈ ಸುಭಾಷಿತದ ಬಗ್ಗೆAbout this subhashita

ಕಂಥಾಕವಿ ಎಂಬುದು ಇತರರ ಸಾಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೌದಿಯಂತೆ ಹೊಲಿದು ಕಾವ್ಯ ಮಾಡುವವನ ಚುಚ್ಚುಮಾತು. ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬರಿಗೂ ಒಂದು ತಾಣ ಇದೆ, ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ಅವರ ಬಲ.

Kanthakavi is a jibe at one who stitches others’ lines into a quilt and calls it poetry. Each figure here has a home spot, and only there is he strong.

ಕೊನೆಯ ಹೋಲಿಕೆ ಆಮೆಯದು. ಕೊಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಚುರುಕಾದ ಆಮೆ ದಡದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅಸಹಾಯ. ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳುವುದು ಧೈರ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಜಾಗದ ನಡುವಿನ ಸಂಬಂಧವನ್ನು. ಖಟಾಖು ಮತ್ತು ಪಿಂಡೀಶೂರತೆಯ ನಿಖರ ಅರ್ಥಕ್ಕೆ ನಾವು ಸಂದರ್ಭವನ್ನೇ ನೆಚ್ಚಿದ್ದೇವೆ.

The last likeness is the tortoise, quick in its pond and helpless on the bank. The verse is speaking of the tie between courage and place. For the exact senses of khatakhu and pindishuratva we have leaned on context.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today

ಒಂದು ವೇದಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಜೋರಾಗಿ ಮಾತನಾಡುವವರು ಬೇರೆ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಗೆ ಇರುತ್ತಾರೆ ಎಂದು ನೋಡಿದರೆ ಅವರ ನಿಜವಾದ ಬಲ ತಿಳಿಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಒಂದೇ ತಾಣದ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನವನ್ನು ಯೋಗ್ಯತೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಯಬಾರದು.

Seeing how a loud speaker behaves in another setting shows his real strength. Display in one place alone should not be mistaken for ability.

ನಮಗೂ ಇದು ಕನ್ನಡಿ ಆಗಬಹುದು. ನಮ್ಮ ಆತ್ಮವಿಶ್ವಾಸ ಕೇವಲ ಪರಿಚಿತ ಕೋಣೆಯದೇ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು ಕಲಿಯುವವನ ಲಕ್ಷಣ.

It can be a mirror for us too. Asking whether our confidence belongs only to a familiar room is the mark of a learner.
