ಕಸ್ಯಾದೇಶಾತ್ಕ್ಷಪಯತಿ ತಮಃ: ಕೇಳದೆ ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಂಡ ಕಚ್ಚೆ

ಹೆದ್ದಾರಿಯ ಬದಿಯ ಹುಣಸೆಮರದ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಬಸ್ಸಿಗಾಗಿ ಕಾಯುವವರು ನೆರಳು ಕೊಡಲು ಮರಕ್ಕೆ ಯಾರೂ ಕೈ ಜೋಡಿಸಿ ಬೇಡಿಕೊಂಡಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಯೋಚಿಸುವುದೇ ಇಲ್ಲ.

ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಅಂಥ ಮೂರು ದೃಶ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಸಾಲಾಗಿ ಇಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಅದಲ್ಲದೆ ಮೊದಲ ಸಾಲಿನ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಎರಡನೆಯ ಸಾಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದೇ ವಾಕ್ಯದ ಉತ್ತರ ಕೊಡುತ್ತದೆ.

ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ

ಕಸ್ಯಾದೇಶಾತ್ಕ್ಷಪಯತಿ (कस्यादेशात्क्षपयति, kasyādeśātkṣapayati) = ಯಾರ ಆಜ್ಞೆಯಿಂದ ನಾಶ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾನೆ (by whose command does he destroy)
ತಮಃ (तमः, tamaḥ) = ಕತ್ತಲೆಯನ್ನು (the darkness)
ಸಪ್ತಸಪ್ತಿಃ (सप्तसप्तिः, saptasaptiḥ) = ಸೂರ್ಯ (ಏಳು ಕುದುರೆಗಳುಳ್ಳವನು) (the sun (he of the seven horses))
ಪ್ರಜಾನಾಂ (प्रजानां, prajānāṃ) = ಜನರ ಹಿತಕ್ಕಾಗಿ (for the people)
ಛಾಯಾಹೇತೋಃ (छायाहेतोः, chāyāhetoḥ) = ನೆರಳಿನ ಕಾರಣಕ್ಕಾಗಿ (for the sake of shade)

ಕೇನ (केन, kena) = ಯಾರಿಂದ (by whom)
ಬದ್ಧಃ (बद्धः, baddhaḥ) = ಕಟ್ಟಲಾಗಿದೆ (is made)
ಅಭ್ಯರ್ಥ್ಯಂತೇ (अभ्यर्थ्यन्ते, abhyarthyante) = ಬೇಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ (are begged)
ಜಲಲವಮುಚಃ (जललवमुचः, jalalavamucaḥ) = ನೀರ ಹನಿ ಸುರಿಸುವ ಮೋಡಗಳು (the clouds that let fall drops of water)
ಕೇನ ವಾ (केन वा, kena vā) = ಅಥವಾ ಯಾರಿಂದ (or by whom)
ವೃಷ್ಟಿಹೇತೋರ್ಜಾತ್ಯೈವೈತೇ (वृष्टिहेतोर्जात्यैवैते, vṛṣṭihetorjātyaivaite) = ಮಳೆಗಾಗಿ, ಹುಟ್ಟಿನಿಂದಲೇ ಇವರು (for the sake of rain, these by birth itself)
ಪರಹಿತವಿಧೌ (परहितविधौ, parahitavidhau) = ಪರರ ಹಿತ ಮಾಡುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ (in doing good to others)

ಬದ್ಧಕಕ್ಷ್ಯಾಃ (बद्धकक्ष्याः, baddhakakṣyāḥ) = ಕಚ್ಚೆ ಬಿಗಿದು ಸಿದ್ಧರಾದವರು (girded and ready)

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)

ಯಾರ ಆಜ್ಞೆಯಿಂದ ಸೂರ್ಯ ಜನರ ಕತ್ತಲೆಯನ್ನು ಕಳೆಯುತ್ತಾನೆ. ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೆರಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಮರಗಳಿಗೆ ಯಾರು ಕೈ ಜೋಡಿಸಿದರು. ಮಳೆಗಾಗಿ ಮೋಡಗಳನ್ನು ಯಾರು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಈ ಸಜ್ಜನರು ಹುಟ್ಟಿನಿಂದಲೇ ಪರರ ಹಿತ ಮಾಡಲು ಕಚ್ಚೆ ಬಿಗಿದು ಸಿದ್ಧರಾಗಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ.

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)

By whose command does the sun drive off the darkness of the people? Who folded his hands to the trees for shade on the road? Who begs the clouds for rain? In the same way these good people are, by birth itself, girded and ready to do good to others.

ಈ ಸುಭಾಷಿತದ ಬಗ್ಗೆAbout this subhashita

ಸಪ್ತಸಪ್ತಿ ಎಂದರೆ ಏಳು ಕುದುರೆಗಳ ರಥದ ಒಡೆಯ, ಅಂದರೆ ಸೂರ್ಯ. ಒಂದೇ ಪದದಲ್ಲಿ ಚಿತ್ರವೂ ಹೆಸರೂ ಇದೆ.

Saptasapti means he whose chariot has seven horses, that is, the sun. One word carries both the picture and the name.

ಬದ್ಧಕಕ್ಷ್ಯ ಎಂದರೆ ಕೆಲಸಕ್ಕೆ ಕಚ್ಚೆ ಬಿಗಿದುಕೊಂಡವನು. ಇದು ಅಂದಿನ ಕಾಲದ ಮಾತು, ಇಂದು ಅಂಗಿಯ ತೋಳು ಮಡಚಿ ನಿಂತವನು ಎನ್ನಬಹುದು.

Baddhakakshya means one who has tied up his waist cloth for work. This is an old way of speaking. Today we might say one who has rolled up his sleeves.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today

ಕೆಲಸ ಹೇಳಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ಮಾಡುವವರು ಒಂದು ತರಹ, ಹೇಳುವ ಮೊದಲೇ ಸಿದ್ಧರಾಗಿರುವವರು ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ತರಹ. ತಂಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡನೆಯವರ ಬೆಲೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚು.

Those who act after being told are one kind, those who are ready before being told are another. In a team the second kind is worth more.

ಹುಟ್ಟಿನಿಂದಲೇ ಎಂಬ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಅತಿಯಾಗಿ ಎಳೆಯಬೇಡಿ. ಕಲಿಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅಭ್ಯಾಸದಿಂದಲೂ ಈ ಗುಣ ಬೆಳೆಯುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ನಂಬಿದರೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಉಪಯೋಗ.

Do not stretch the phrase by birth too far. It is more useful to believe that learning and practice can grow this quality as well.
