ತುಂಗಾತ್ಮನಾಂ ತುಂಗತರಾಃ: ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಬೇಗೆ ಆರಿಸಲು ಮೋಡವೇ ಬೇಕು

ಬೇಸಿಗೆಯ ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನ ಬಿಸಿಲಿಗೆ ಬೆಂದ ಬೆಟ್ಟವನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದರೆ, ಅದರ ಬೇಗೆ ಆರುವುದು ಯಾರಿಂದ ಎಂಬ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಬರುತ್ತದೆ. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಹರಿಯುವ ಒಂದು ಹಳ್ಳ ಅದನ್ನು ಆರಿಸಲಾರದು.

ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಆ ಚಿತ್ರವನ್ನು ಮನುಷ್ಯರ ಸಂಬಂಧಕ್ಕೆ ತಂದು, ಯಾರ ಆಸೆಯನ್ನು ಯಾರು ತೀರಿಸಬಲ್ಲರು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದು ನಾಲ್ಕು ಪಾದಗಳ ವೃತ್ತ.

ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ

ತುಂಗಾತ್ಮನಾಂ (तुङ्गात्मनां, tuṅgātmanāṃ) = ಉನ್ನತ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನವರ (of the high-minded)
ತುಂಗತರಾಃ (तुङ्गतराः, tuṅgatarāḥ) = ಇನ್ನೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಉನ್ನತರು (those still higher)
ಸಮರ್ಥಾ (समर्था, samarthā) = ಸಮರ್ಥರು (able)
ಮನೋರಥಾನ್ (मनोरथान्, manorathān) = ಆಸೆಗಳನ್ನು (wishes)
ಪೂರಯಿತುಂ (पूरयितुं, pūrayituṃ) = ಪೂರೈಸಲು (to fulfil)
ನ (न, na) = ಅಲ್ಲ (not)
ನೀಚಾಃ (नीचाः, nīcāḥ) = ಕೀಳು ಮನಸ್ಸಿನವರು (the lowly)

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)

ಉನ್ನತ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನವರ ಆಸೆಗಳನ್ನು ಪೂರೈಸಲು ಅವರಿಗಿಂತಲೂ ಉನ್ನತರೇ ಸಮರ್ಥರು, ಕೀಳು ಮನಸ್ಸಿನವರಲ್ಲ. ಬೆಟ್ಟಗಳ ಬೇಸಿಗೆಯ ಬೇಗೆಯನ್ನು ಆರಿಸಲು ಮೋಡಗಳೇ ಸಮರ್ಥ, ನದಿಗಳಲ್ಲ.

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)

Only those still higher can fulfil the wishes of the high-minded, not the lowly. Only clouds can quench the summer heat of mountains, not rivers.

ಈ ಸುಭಾಷಿತದ ಬಗ್ಗೆAbout this subhashita

ಧಾರಾಧರ ಮತ್ತು ಧರಾಧರ ಎಂಬ ಎರಡು ಪದಗಳು ಒಂದೇ ಅಕ್ಷರಗಳಿಂದ ಆಡುವ ಆಟ. ಧಾರೆಯನ್ನು ಧರಿಸಿದ್ದು ಮೋಡ, ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನು ಧರಿಸಿದ್ದು ಬೆಟ್ಟ.

Dharadhara and dharadhara are a play with nearly the same syllables. The holder of streams is the cloud, the holder of the earth is the mountain.

ನದಿ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಹರಿಯುತ್ತದೆ, ಮೋಡ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಮೇಲೇ ಬಂದು ನಿಲ್ಲುತ್ತದೆ. ಎತ್ತರ ಎಂಬುದು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಭೌಗೋಳಿಕ ಅರ್ಥದಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತು ಮನಸ್ಸಿನ ಅರ್ಥದಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡರಲ್ಲೂ ಇದೆ.

A river flows below, while the cloud comes and rests on the mountain itself. Height here works in both senses, of the land and of the mind.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today

ಕೆಲವು ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳಿಗೆ ನಮಗಿಂತ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನ ಒಬ್ಬ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶಕರನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕುವುದೇ ಸರಿಯಾದ ದಾರಿ. ಸೂಕ್ತ ಹಿರಿಯರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗುವುದು ದೌರ್ಬಲ್ಯವಲ್ಲ.

For some problems the right way is to find a guide of larger mind than ours. Going to the right elder is not a weakness.

ಅದೇ ಸಮಯ ನಾವೂ ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬರ ಪಾಲಿಗೆ ಮೋಡವಾಗಬಹುದು. ಕಲಿಯುವ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಯ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಆಸೆಗೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಬಳಿ ಏನಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದು.

At the same time we too may be a cloud for someone. We may ask what we have to offer to the large wish of a learning student.
