ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನು ಇಲ್ಲ. ನನ್ನ ಕುಟುಂಬ, ನನ್ನ ಊರು, ನನ್ನ ದೇಶ ಯಾವುದೂ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಇರುವುದು ಸರ್ವೇ, ಎಲ್ಲರೂ.
ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಸುಖವಾಗಿರಲಿ, ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ರೋಗರಹಿತರಾಗಿರಲಿ, ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದನ್ನು ಕಾಣಲಿ, ಯಾರೂ ದುಃಖದ ಪಾಲುದಾರರಾಗದಿರಲಿ. ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯದ ಶಪಥಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತದ ಈ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಸಾಲುಗಳು ಬಹಳ ಹತ್ತಿರ.
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಸರ್ವೇ ಭವಂತು ಸುಖಿನಃ ಸರ್ವೇ ಸಂತು ನಿರಾಮಯಾಃ ।
ಸರ್ವೇ ಭದ್ರಾಣಿ ಪಶ್ಯಂತು ಮಾ ಕಶ್ಚಿದ್ದುಃಖಭಾಗ್ಭವೇತ್ ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ದೇವನಾಗರಿ)
सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिनः सर्वे सन्तु निरामयाः ।
सर्वे भद्राणि पश्यन्तु मा कश्चिद्दुःखभाग्भवेत् ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (IAST)

ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ
- ಸರ್ವೇ (सर्वे, sarve) = ಎಲ್ಲರೂ (all)
- ಭವಂತು (भवन्तु, bhavantu) = ಆಗಲಿ (may they be)
- ಸುಖಿನಃ (सुखिनः, sukhinaḥ) = ಸುಖಿಗಳು (happy)
- ಸಂತು (सन्तु, santu) = ಇರಲಿ (may they be)
- ನಿರಾಮಯಾಃ (निरामयाः, nirāmayāḥ) = ರೋಗವಿಲ್ಲದವರು (free from illness)
- ಭದ್ರಾಣಿ (भद्राणि, bhadrāṇi) = ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದನ್ನು, ಮಂಗಳಗಳನ್ನು (good things)
- ಪಶ್ಯಂತು (पश्यन्तु, paśyantu) = ಕಾಣಲಿ (may they see)
- ಮಾ (मा, mā) = ಬೇಡ, ಆಗದಿರಲಿ (let not)
- ಕಶ್ಚಿತ್ (कश्चित्, kaścit) = ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬರೂ (anyone)
- ದುಃಖಭಾಕ್ (दुःखभाक्, duḥkhabhāk) = ದುಃಖದ ಪಾಲುದಾರ (a sharer in sorrow)
- ಭವೇತ್ (भवेत्, bhavet) = ಆಗಲಿ (be)
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಸುಖವಾಗಿರಲಿ. ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ರೋಗರಹಿತರಾಗಿರಲಿ. ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದನ್ನೇ ಕಾಣಲಿ. ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬರೂ ದುಃಖಕ್ಕೆ ಪಾಲುದಾರರಾಗದಿರಲಿ.
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)
May all be happy. May all be free from illness. May all see what is good. May no one have a share in sorrow.
ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕದ ಮೂಲWhere this verse comes from
ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕವನ್ನು ಉಪನಿಷತ್ತಿನ ಅಥವಾ ವೇದದ ಮಂತ್ರವೆಂದು ಹಲವೆಡೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಉಪನಿಷತ್ತುಗಳಲ್ಲಾಗಲಿ ವೇದಗಳಲ್ಲಾಗಲಿ ಇದು ಈ ರೂಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಇದು ಅನುಷ್ಟುಪ್ ಛಂದಸ್ಸಿನ ಪರಂಪರೆಯ ಶ್ಲೋಕ; ಪುರಾಣ ಮತ್ತು ಸುಭಾಷಿತ ಸಂಗ್ರಹಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಹತ್ತಿರದ ಸಾಲುಗಳು ಸಿಗುತ್ತವೆ.
This verse is often described as a mantra of the Upanishads or the Vedas. It is not found in this form in the principal Upanishads or in the Vedas. It is a traditional verse in anushtubh metre; lines close to it are found in Puranic and proverb collections.
ಕೆಲವರು ಕೊನೆಯ ಪಾದವನ್ನು ಮಾ ಕಶ್ಚಿದ್ ದುಃಖಮಾಪ್ನುಯಾತ್, ಯಾರೂ ದುಃಖವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದದಿರಲಿ, ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಇದರ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಸರ್ವೇಷಾಂ ಸ್ವಸ್ತಿರ್ಭವತು ಎಂಬ ಗದ್ಯರೂಪದ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಯನ್ನೂ ಹೇಳುವುದುಂಟು.
Some say the last quarter as ma kashchid duhkham apnuyat, may no one meet with sorrow. The prose prayer sarvesham svastir bhavatu is often said along with it.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today
ನಿರಾಮಯಾಃ ಎಂಬ ಒಂದು ಪದವೇ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಆರೋಗ್ಯದ ಗುರಿ: ಕೆಲವರಲ್ಲ, ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ರೋಗರಹಿತರು. ಲಸಿಕೆ, ಶುದ್ಧ ನೀರು, ಸ್ವಚ್ಛತೆ, ಇವು ಈ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಯನ್ನು ಕೆಲಸದಲ್ಲಿ ತರುವ ದಾರಿಗಳು.
The single word niramayah is the goal of public health: not some, but all, free from illness. Vaccines, clean water and sanitation are the ways this prayer is put into practice.
ಈ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಯನ್ನು ಹೇಳುವ ಮನಸ್ಸು ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬರ ದುಃಖವನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಸುಮ್ಮನಿರಲಾರದು. ಇಂದು ನಮ್ಮ ಸುತ್ತ ಒಬ್ಬರ ದುಃಖವನ್ನು ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಕಡಿಮೆ ಮಾಡುವುದೇ ಇದರ ನಿಜವಾದ ಪಠಣ.
A mind that says this prayer cannot stay silent before another’s sorrow. Easing one person’s sorrow around us today is its true recitation.
