ಸುಧಾಮಪ್ಯಾಸ್ವಾದ್ಯ ಪ್ರತಿಭಯಜರಾಮೃತ್ಯುಹರಿಣೀಂ
ವಿಪದ್ಯಂತೇ ವಿಶ್ವೇ ವಿಧಿಶತಮಖಾದ್ಯಾ ದಿವಿಷದಃ ।
ಕರಾಲಂ ಯತ್ಕ್ಷ್ವೇಲಂ ಕಬಲಿತವತಃ ಕಾಲಕಲನಾ
ನ ಶಂಭೋಸ್ತನ್ಮೂಲಂ ತವ ಜನನಿ ತಾಟಂಕಮಹಿಮಾ ॥ 28 ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ದೇವನಾಗರಿ)
सुधामप्यास्वाद्य प्रतिभयजरामृत्युहरिणीं
विपद्यन्ते विश्वे विधिशतमखाद्या दिविषदः ।
करालं यत्क्ष्वेलं कबलितवतः कालकलना
न शम्भोस्तन्मूलं तव जननि ताटङ्कमहिमा ॥ 28 ॥

sudhāmapyāsvādya pratibhayajarāmṛtyuhariṇīṃ
vipadyante viśve vidhiśatamakhādyā diviṣadaḥ |
karālaṃ yatkṣvelaṃ kabalitavataḥ kālakalanā
na śambhostanmūlaṃ tava janani tāṭaṅkamahimā || 28 ||
ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ
- ಸುಧಾಮ್ ಅಪಿ ಆಸ್ವಾದ್ಯ (सुधाम् अपि आस्वाद्य, sudhām api āsvādya) = ಅಮೃತವನ್ನು ಸವಿದಿದ್ದರೂ (though they have tasted the nectar)
- ಪ್ರತಿಭಯಜರಾಮೃತ್ಯುಹರಿಣೀಂ (प्रतिभयजरामृत्युहरिणीं, pratibhayajarāmṛtyuhariṇīṃ) = ಭಯಂಕರವಾದ ಮುಪ್ಪನ್ನೂ ಸಾವನ್ನೂ ಕಳೆಯುವ (which takes away dreaded age and death)
- ವಿಪದ್ಯಂತೇ ವಿಶ್ವೇ (विपद्यन्ते विश्वे, vipadyante viśve) = ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಅಳಿಯುತ್ತಾರೆ (all of them perish)
- ವಿಧಿಶತಮಖಾದ್ಯಾಃ ದಿವಿಷದಃ (विधिशतमखाद्याः दिविषदः, vidhiśatamakhādyāḥ diviṣadaḥ) = ಬ್ರಹ್ಮ ಇಂದ್ರ ಮೊದಲಾದ ದೇವತೆಗಳು (the gods, Brahma and Indra among them)
- ಕರಾಲಂ ಯತ್ ಕ್ಷ್ವೇಲಂ (करालं यत् क्ष्वेलं, karālaṃ yat kṣvelaṃ) = ಭಯಂಕರವಾದ ಆ ವಿಷವನ್ನು (that terrible poison)
- ಕಬಲಿತವತಃ (कबलितवतः, kabalitavataḥ) = ನುಂಗಿದವನಿಗೆ (for him who swallowed it)
- ಕಾಲಕಲನಾ ನ ಶಂಭೋಃ (कालकलना न शम्भोः, kālakalanā na śambhoḥ) = ಶಂಭುವಿಗೆ ಕಾಲದ ಲೆಕ್ಕವಿಲ್ಲ (Shambhu is not counted by time)
- ತತ್ ಮೂಲಂ (तत् मूलं, tat mūlaṃ) = ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣ (the root of that)
- ತವ ಜನನಿ ತಾಟಂಕಮಹಿಮಾ (तव जननि ताटङ्कमहिमा, tava janani tāṭaṅkamahimā) = ತಾಯೇ, ನಿನ್ನ ಕಿವಿಯೋಲೆಗಳ ಮಹಿಮೆ (Mother, is the power of the ornaments in your ears)
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಭಯಂಕರವಾದ ಮುಪ್ಪನ್ನೂ ಸಾವನ್ನೂ ಕಳೆಯುವ ಅಮೃತವನ್ನು ಸವಿದಿದ್ದರೂ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮ ಇಂದ್ರ ಮೊದಲಾದ ದೇವತೆಗಳೆಲ್ಲ ಕೊನೆಗೆ ಅಳಿಯುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆದರೆ ಭಯಂಕರವಾದ ವಿಷವನ್ನೇ ನುಂಗಿದ ಶಂಭುವಿಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಕಾಲದ ಲೆಕ್ಕವಿಲ್ಲ. ತಾಯೇ, ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣ ನಿನ್ನ ಕಿವಿಯೋಲೆಗಳ ಮಹಿಮೆ.
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)
Brahma, Indra and the other gods have drunk the nectar that takes away dreaded age and death, and still they all perish in the end. Shambhu, who swallowed the terrible poison instead, is not counted by time at all. Mother, the reason is the power of the ornaments in your ears.
