ಮಗು ಅಪ್ಪನ ಹಣದಲ್ಲೇ ಅಪ್ಪನಿಗೆ ಉಡುಗೊರೆ ಕೊಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಅಪ್ಪ ಖುಷಿಪಡುವುದು ಹಣಕ್ಕಲ್ಲ, ಆ ಭಾವಕ್ಕೆ. ನೈವೇದ್ಯದ ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕದ ಹಿಂದಿರುವ ಕಲ್ಪನೆ ಅದೇ.
ದೇವರಿಗೆ ನೈವೇದ್ಯ ತೋರಿಸುವಾಗ ಹಲವು ಮನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಕೇಳಿಬರುತ್ತದೆ. ಕೆಲವರು ಊಟಕ್ಕೆ ಕುಳಿತಾಗಲೂ ಇದನ್ನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ.
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ತ್ವದೀಯಂ ವಸ್ತು ಗೋವಿಂದ ತುಭ್ಯಮೇವ ಸಮರ್ಪಯೇ ।
ಗೃಹಾಣ ಸುಮುಖೋ ಭೂತ್ವಾ ಪ್ರಸೀದ ಪರಮೇಶ್ವರ ॥

त्वदीयं वस्तु गोविन्द तुभ्यमेव समर्पये ।

ಶ್ಲೋಕ (IAST)

ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ
- ತ್ವದೀಯಮ್ (त्वदीयम्, tvadīyam) = ನಿನ್ನದಾದ (your own)
- ವಸ್ತು (वस्तु, vastu) = ವಸ್ತುವನ್ನು (thing)
- ಗೋವಿಂದ (गोविन्द, govinda) = ಓ ಗೋವಿಂದನೇ (O Govinda)
- ತುಭ್ಯಮ್ (तुभ्यम्, tubhyam) = ನಿನಗೆ (to you)
- ಏವ (एव, eva) = ಮಾತ್ರವೇ (indeed, only)
- ಸಮರ್ಪಯೇ (समर्पये, samarpaye) = ಅರ್ಪಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ (I offer)
- ಗೃಹಾಣ (गृहाण, gṛhāṇa) = ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸು (accept)
- ಸುಮುಖಃ (सुमुखः, sumukhaḥ) = ಪ್ರಸನ್ನ ಮುಖದವನಾಗಿ (with a gracious face)
- ಭೂತ್ವಾ (भूत्वा, bhūtvā) = ಆಗಿ (having become)
- ಪ್ರಸೀದ (प्रसीद, prasīda) = ಪ್ರಸನ್ನನಾಗು, ಅನುಗ್ರಹಿಸು (be pleased, be gracious)
- ಪರಮೇಶ್ವರ (परमेश्वर, parameśvara) = ಓ ಪರಮೇಶ್ವರನೇ (O supreme lord)
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಓ ಗೋವಿಂದ, ನಿನ್ನದೇ ಆದ ವಸ್ತುವನ್ನು ನಿನಗೇ ಅರ್ಪಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಪ್ರಸನ್ನಮುಖನಾಗಿ ಇದನ್ನು ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸು; ಓ ಪರಮೇಶ್ವರ, ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಅನುಗ್ರಹ ತೋರು.
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)
O Govinda, I offer to you what is already yours. Accept it with a gracious face; O supreme lord, be pleased with me.
ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕದ ಬಗ್ಗೆAbout this verse
ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕದ ಮೂಲ ಗ್ರಂಥ ಖಚಿತವಿಲ್ಲ. ಪೂಜಾವಿಧಾನದ ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇದು ನೈವೇದ್ಯದ ಹೊತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬರುತ್ತದೆ; ಕೆಲವು ಕಡೆ ಗೋವಿಂದ ಬದಲು ದೇವತೆಯ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಬದಲಿಸಿ ಹೇಳುವುದೂ ಉಂಟು.
The source text of this verse is not certain. Books on worship place it at the moment of offering food, and in some homes the name Govinda is replaced with that of the deity being worshipped.
ಒಂದೇ ಶ್ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಗೋವಿಂದ ಮತ್ತು ಪರಮೇಶ್ವರ ಎರಡೂ ಸಂಬೋಧನೆಗಳು ಬರುತ್ತವೆ. ಹೆಸರು ಯಾವುದೇ ಇರಲಿ, ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸುವವನು ಒಬ್ಬನೇ ಎಂಬ ಭಾವ ಇಲ್ಲಿದೆ.
The one verse addresses both Govinda and Parameshvara. Whatever the name, the one who receives is the same.
ಗೀತೆಯ ಒಂಬತ್ತನೆಯ ಅಧ್ಯಾಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ: ಎಲೆ, ಹೂವು, ಹಣ್ಣು, ನೀರು, ಭಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಏನು ಕೊಟ್ಟರೂ ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ (9.26). ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಅದರ ಮನೆಯ ಭಾಷೆಯ ರೂಪದಂತಿದೆ.
In the ninth chapter of the Gita, Krishna says he accepts a leaf, a flower, a fruit or water offered with devotion (9.26). This verse reads like a household version of that promise.

ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಯಾವುದೂ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ನಮ್ಮದಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬ ಅರಿವು ಅಹಂಕಾರವನ್ನು ತಗ್ಗಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಆರೋಗ್ಯ, ಸಮಯ, ಕೌಶಲ್ಯ ಇವೆಲ್ಲವೂ ನಮಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕ ಕೊಡುಗೆಗಳು.
Knowing that nothing in the house is wholly ours eases pride. Health, time and skill are all gifts we have received.
ಈ ಭಾವದಲ್ಲಿ ಊಟ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಅದನ್ನು ಹಾಳುಮಾಡುವುದು ಕಷ್ಟ. ತಟ್ಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಉಳಿಸುವ ಅನ್ನ ಕಡಿಮೆಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.
Eaten in this spirit, food is hard to waste. Less is left on the plate.
