ಒಂದೇ ಶ್ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೃಷ್ಣನ ಬದುಕಿನ ಮೂರು ಮುಖಗಳು: ವಸುದೇವ ದೇವಕಿಯರ ಮಗ, ಕಂಸ ಮತ್ತು ಚಾಣೂರರನ್ನು ಗೆದ್ದ ವೀರ, ಜಗತ್ತಿಗೆ ಗೀತೆ ಹೇಳಿದ ಗುರು.
ಗೀತಾ ಪಾರಾಯಣಕ್ಕೆ ಮುನ್ನದ ಧ್ಯಾನ ಶ್ಲೋಕಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇದು ಬರುತ್ತದೆ. ಕೃಷ್ಣಂ ವಂದೇ ಜಗದ್ಗುರುಮ್ ಎಂಬ ಕೊನೆಯ ಪಾದ ಒಂಟಿಯಾಗಿಯೂ ಬಹಳ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ.
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ವಸುದೇವಸುತಂ ದೇವಂ ಕಂಸಚಾಣೂರಮರ್ದನಮ್ ।
ದೇವಕೀಪರಮಾನಂದಂ ಕೃಷ್ಣಂ ವಂದೇ ಜಗದ್ಗುರುಮ್ ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ದೇವನಾಗರಿ)
वसुदेवसुतं देवं कंसचाणूरमर्दनम् ।
देवकीपरमानन्दं कृष्णं वन्दे जगद्गुरुम् ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (IAST)
vasudevasutaṃ devaṃ kaṃsacāṇūramardanam |
devakīparamānandaṃ kṛṣṇaṃ vande jagadgurum ||
ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ
- ವಸುದೇವಸುತಮ್ (वसुदेवसुतम्, vasudevasutam) = ವಸುದೇವನ ಮಗನನ್ನು (the son of Vasudeva)
- ದೇವಮ್ (देवम्, devam) = ದೇವನನ್ನು (the god)
- ಕಂಸಚಾಣೂರಮರ್ದನಮ್ (कंसचाणूरमर्दनम्, kaṃsacāṇūramardanam) = ಕಂಸ ಮತ್ತು ಚಾಣೂರರನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸಿದವನನ್ನು (the slayer of Kamsa and Chanura)
- ದೇವಕೀಪರಮಾನಂದಮ್ (देवकीपरमानन्दम्, devakīparamānandam) = ದೇವಕಿಗೆ ಪರಮ ಆನಂದವಾದವನನ್ನು (the supreme joy of Devaki)
- ಕೃಷ್ಣಮ್ (कृष्णम्, kṛṣṇam) = ಕೃಷ್ಣನನ್ನು (Krishna)
- ವಂದೇ (वन्दे, vande) = ವಂದಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ (I salute)
- ಜಗದ್ಗುರುಮ್ (जगद्गुरुम्, jagadgurum) = ಜಗತ್ತಿನ ಗುರುವನ್ನು (the teacher of the world)
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ವಸುದೇವನ ಮಗನಾದ, ಕಂಸ ಮತ್ತು ಚಾಣೂರರನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸಿದ, ದೇವಕಿಗೆ ಪರಮಾನಂದವಾದ, ಜಗತ್ತಿನ ಗುರುವಾದ ದೇವ ಕೃಷ್ಣನನ್ನು ವಂದಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)
I salute the god Krishna, son of Vasudeva, slayer of Kamsa and Chanura, the supreme joy of Devaki, the teacher of the world.
ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕದ ಬಗ್ಗೆAbout this verse
ಗೀತಾ ಧ್ಯಾನ ಎಂಬ ಒಂಬತ್ತು ಶ್ಲೋಕಗಳ ಗುಚ್ಛ ಗೀತೆಯ ಮೂಲ ಪಠ್ಯದ ಭಾಗವಲ್ಲ. ಅದನ್ನು ಪಾರಾಯಣ ಪರಂಪರೆ ಆರಂಭಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿಸಿದೆ; ಕೆಲವರು ಅದನ್ನು ಮಧುಸೂದನ ಸರಸ್ವತಿಯವರಿಗೆ ಆರೋಪಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಆದರೆ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಗಟ್ಟಿಯಾದ ಆಧಾರವಿಲ್ಲ. ಮೂಕಂ ಕರೋತಿ ವಾಚಾಲಂ ಶ್ಲೋಕವೂ ಇದೇ ಗುಚ್ಛದಲ್ಲಿದೆ.
The group of nine verses called the Gita Dhyana is not part of the Gita’s own text; the tradition of recitation placed it at the start. Some attribute it to Madhusudana Sarasvati, but without firm evidence. The verse mukam karoti vachalam belongs to the same group.
ಚಾಣೂರ ಕಂಸನ ಮಲ್ಲಯುದ್ಧದ ಜಟ್ಟಿ. ಮಥುರೆಯ ರಂಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ಚಾಣೂರನನ್ನೂ ಬಲರಾಮ ಮುಷ್ಟಿಕನನ್ನೂ ಸೋಲಿಸಿದ ನಂತರ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ಕಂಸನನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲುತ್ತಾನೆ.
Chanura was Kamsa’s wrestler. In the arena at Mathura Krishna defeats Chanura and Balarama defeats Mushtika, and then Krishna kills Kamsa.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today
ದೇವಕಿಗೆ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ಪರಮಾನಂದವಾದರೂ ಅವನನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸುವ ಅವಕಾಶ ಅವಳಿಗೆ ಸಿಗಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಮಗುವಿನ ಒಳಿತಿಗಾಗಿ ದೂರವಾಗುವ ತಾಯಿಯ ನೋವೂ ಈ ಪದದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಡಗಿದೆ.
Krishna was Devaki’s supreme joy, yet she did not get to raise him. The pain of a mother who parts from her child for the child’s own good is also hidden in that word.
ಒಂದೇ ಬದುಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮಗ, ಹೋರಾಟಗಾರ, ಗುರು ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ಆಗಬಹುದು. ಇಂದಿನ ಪಾತ್ರ ಯಾವುದು ಎಂದು ಗುರುತಿಸಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುವುದೇ ಕೃಷ್ಣನ ಪಾಠ.
One life can hold the son, the fighter and the teacher. Recognising which role today asks for, and doing it well, is Krishna’s lesson.
