ನ ಕಾಂಕ್ಷೇ ವಿಜಯಂ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ನ ಚ ರಾಜ್ಯಂ ಸುಖಾನಿ ಚ ।
ಕಿಂ ನೋ ರಾಜ್ಯೇನ ಗೋವಿಂದ ಕಿಂ ಭೋಗೈರ್ಜೀವಿತೇನ ವಾ ॥ 32 ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ದೇವನಾಗರಿ)
न काङ्क्षे विजयं कृष्ण न च राज्यं सुखानि च ।
किं नो राज्येन गोविन्द किं भोगैर्जीवितेन वा ॥ 32 ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (IAST)
na kāṅkṣe vijayaṃ kṛṣṇa na ca rājyaṃ sukhāni ca |

ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ
- ನ (न, na) = ಇಲ್ಲ (not)
- ಕಾಂಕ್ಷೇ (काङ्क्षे, kāṅkṣe) = ಬಯಸುತ್ತೇನೆ (I desire)
- ವಿಜಯಮ್ (विजयम्, vijayam) = ಗೆಲುವನ್ನು (victory)
- ಕೃಷ್ಣ (कृष्ण, kṛṣṇa) = ಓ ಕೃಷ್ಣ (O Krishna)
- ನ ಚ (न च, na ca) = ಇಲ್ಲವೇ ಇಲ್ಲ (nor)
- ರಾಜ್ಯಮ್ (राज्यम्, rājyam) = ರಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನು (kingdom)
- ಸುಖಾನಿ (सुखानि, sukhāni) = ಸುಖಗಳನ್ನು (pleasures)

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಕೃಷ್ಣ, ನನಗೆ ಗೆಲುವು ಬೇಡ, ರಾಜ್ಯವೂ ಬೇಡ, ಸುಖಗಳೂ ಬೇಡ. ಗೋವಿಂದ, ರಾಜ್ಯದಿಂದ ನಮಗೇನು? ಭೋಗಗಳಿಂದ ಅಥವಾ ಬದುಕಿನಿಂದಲಾದರೂ ಏನು?
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)
I do not want victory, Krishna, nor kingdom, nor pleasures. What use to us is a kingdom, Govinda? What use are enjoyments, or even life?
ಶ್ಲೋಕ 1.32ರ ವಿವರಣೆContext and commentary on verse 1.32
‘ಗೆಲುವು ಎಂಬ ಫಲವನ್ನು ಏಕೆ ಕಾಣುವುದಿಲ್ಲ?’ ಎಂಬ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗೆ ಉತ್ತರವಾಗಿ ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಬರುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಶ್ರೀಧರ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳು ಸಂದರ್ಭ ಕಲ್ಪಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಮೇಲ್ನೋಟಕ್ಕೆ ಇದು ವೈರಾಗ್ಯದ ಮಾತಿನಂತೆ ಕೇಳಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಗೆಲುವು, ರಾಜ್ಯ, ಸುಖ ಯಾವುದೂ ಬೇಡ.
Sridhara Swami frames this verse as the reply to a question: why do you not see victory as the reward? On the surface these sound like words of renunciation. No victory, no kingdom, no pleasure.
ಆದರೆ ಈ ನಿರಾಸಕ್ತಿ ಅರಿವಿನಿಂದ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಲ್ಲ, ದುಃಖದಿಂದ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ್ದು ಎಂಬುದು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ವ್ಯಾಖ್ಯಾನಕಾರರ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ. ಎರಡನೆಯ ಅಧ್ಯಾಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ಇದನ್ನು ವೈರಾಗ್ಯವೆಂದು ಮೆಚ್ಚುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಅದಲ್ಲದೆ ಕೊನೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಜೀವಿತೇನ ವಾ, ಬದುಕಿನಿಂದಲಾದರೂ ಏನು ಎಂಬ ಮಾತು ಗಮನಾರ್ಹ. ಬೇಡಗಳ ಪಟ್ಟಿ ಬದುಕನ್ನೂ ಒಳಗೊಂಡಿದೆ. ಗೋವಿಂದ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರಿಗೆ ಗೋವುಗಳನ್ನು ಪಾಲಿಸುವವನು ಎಂಬ ಅರ್ಥ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ.
But most commentators hold that this indifference is born of sorrow, not of understanding. In the second chapter Krishna does not praise it as detachment. Besides, the closing words jivitena va, or even life, deserve attention. The list of things he does not want includes life itself. The name Govinda is well known in the sense of the protector of cows.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today
ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ಬಿಟ್ಟುಬಿಡುವ ಮಾತು ಎರಡು ಬೇರೆ ಬೇರೆ ಜಾಗಗಳಿಂದ ಬರಬಹುದು. ಒಂದು, ಬದುಕನ್ನು ಆಳವಾಗಿ ಅರಿತ ಶಾಂತಿಯಿಂದ. ಇನ್ನೊಂದು, ಏನೂ ರುಚಿಸದಷ್ಟು ಆಳವಾದ ದುಃಖದಿಂದ. ಹೊರಗಿನಿಂದ ಎರಡೂ ಒಂದೇ ರೀತಿ ಕೇಳಿಸುತ್ತವೆ.
Words about giving everything up can come from two very different places. One is the peace of having understood life deeply. The other is a sorrow so deep that nothing has any taste. From outside the two sound alike.
ನಮ್ಮವರಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾರಾದರೂ ಇದ್ದಕ್ಕಿದ್ದಂತೆ ‘ಏನೂ ಬೇಡ, ಬದುಕಿದ್ದರೂ ಏನು ಪ್ರಯೋಜನ’ ಎನ್ನಲು ಶುರುಮಾಡಿದರೆ, ಅದನ್ನು ತತ್ತ್ವಜ್ಞಾನ ಎಂದು ತಳ್ಳಿಹಾಕದೆ ಗಂಭೀರವಾಗಿ ಕೇಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದು. ಇಂಥ ಭಾವ ದಿನಗಟ್ಟಲೆ ಉಳಿದರೆ ವೈದ್ಯರ ಅಥವಾ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯ ಸಹಾಯ ಪಡೆಯಲು ಹಿಂಜರಿಯಬೇಡಿ. ಅರ್ಜುನನ ಪಕ್ಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೃಷ್ಣನಿದ್ದ. ಅವನು ಮಾತು ತಡೆಯಲಿಲ್ಲ, ಕೊನೆಯವರೆಗೂ ಕೇಳಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ.
If someone close to us suddenly begins to say I want nothing, what is the use of living, it is better to listen seriously than to dismiss it as philosophy. If such feelings last for days, do not hesitate to seek help from a doctor or someone you trust. Krishna was beside Arjuna. He did not cut him off; he listened to the end.
