ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಯೇಷಾಮರ್ಥೇ ಕಾಂಕ್ಷಿತಂ ನೋ ರಾಜ್ಯಂ ಭೋಗಾಃ ಸುಖಾನಿ ಚ ।
ತ ಇಮೇಽವಸ್ಥಿತಾ ಯುದ್ಧೇ ಪ್ರಾಣಾಂಸ್ತ್ಯಕ್ತ್ವಾ ಧನಾನಿ ಚ ॥ 33 ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ದೇವನಾಗರಿ)
येषामर्थे काङ्क्षितं नो राज्यं भोगाः सुखानि च ।
त इमेऽवस्थिता युद्धे प्राणांस्त्यक्त्वा धनानि च ॥ 33 ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (IAST)

ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ
- ಯೇಷಾಮ್ (येषाम्, yeṣām) = ಯಾರ (for whose)
- ಅರ್ಥೇ (अर्थे, arthe) = ಸಲುವಾಗಿ (sake)
- ಕಾಂಕ್ಷಿತಮ್ (काङ्क्षितम्, kāṅkṣitam) = ಬಯಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿತ್ತೋ (was desired)
- ನಃ (नः, naḥ) = ನಮ್ಮಿಂದ (by us)
- ರಾಜ್ಯಮ್ (राज्यम्, rājyam) = ರಾಜ್ಯ (kingdom)
- ಭೋಗಾಃ (भोगाः, bhogāḥ) = ಭೋಗಗಳು (enjoyments)
- ಸುಖಾನಿ (सुखानि, sukhāni) = ಸುಖಗಳು (pleasures)
- ಚ (च, ca) = ಮತ್ತು (and)
- ತೇ (ते, te) = ಅವರೇ (they)
- ಇಮೇ (इमे, ime) = ಇವರು (these)

ಯಾರಿಗಾಗಿ ನಾವು ರಾಜ್ಯ, ಭೋಗ ಮತ್ತು ಸುಖಗಳನ್ನು ಬಯಸಿದ್ದೆವೋ, ಅವರೇ ಪ್ರಾಣ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಪತ್ತಿನ ಆಸೆ ತೊರೆದು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)
Those for whose sake we desired kingdom, enjoyments and pleasures stand here in battle, having staked their lives and wealth.
ಶ್ಲೋಕ 1.33ರ ವಿವರಣೆContext and commentary on verse 1.33
ಹಿಂದಿನ ಶ್ಲೋಕದ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗೆ ಅರ್ಜುನ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾರಣ ಕೊಡುತ್ತಾನೆ. ರಾಜ್ಯ ಮೊದಲಾದವುಗಳನ್ನು ನಾವು ಬಯಸುವುದು ಯಾರಿಗಾಗಿಯೋ, ಅವರೇ ಪ್ರಾಣ ಮತ್ತು ಧನದ ತ್ಯಾಗವನ್ನು ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಂಡು ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ರಾಜ್ಯದಿಂದ ನಮಗೆ ಆಗಬೇಕಾದದ್ದೇನು ಎಂದು ಶ್ರೀಧರ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳು ಈ ತರ್ಕವನ್ನು ಬಿಡಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಮತ್ತು ಮುಂದಿನ ಶ್ಲೋಕದ ಪಟ್ಟಿ ಸೇರಿ ಒಂದು ವಾಕ್ಯವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.
Here Arjuna gives the reason behind the question of the previous verse. Sridhara Swami opens the argument: the very people for whose sake we want a kingdom and the rest have accepted the loss of life and wealth and stand ready for battle. What then is a kingdom to us? This verse and the list in the next form one sentence.
ಒಂಬತ್ತನೆಯ ಶ್ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ದುರ್ಯೋಧನ ‘ನನಗಾಗಿ ಜೀವ ತೊರೆದ ವೀರರು’ ಎಂದಿದ್ದ. ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಅರ್ಜುನನೂ ಬಹುತೇಕ ಅದೇ ಮಾತು ಬಳಸುತ್ತಾನೆ: ಪ್ರಾಣಾಂಸ್ತ್ಯಕ್ತ್ವಾ. ಆದರೆ ದಿಕ್ಕು ಬೇರೆ. ದುರ್ಯೋಧನನಿಗೆ ಅದು ತನ್ನ ಬಲದ ಲೆಕ್ಕ. ಅದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅರ್ಜುನನಿಗೆ ಅದು ತನ್ನ ಗೆಲುವಿನ ಅರ್ಥಹೀನತೆಯ ಲೆಕ್ಕ.
In the ninth verse Duryodhana spoke of heroes who had given up their lives for my sake. Arjuna uses almost the same words here: pranams tyaktva. But the direction is different. For Duryodhana it was a count of his strength. Besides, for Arjuna it is a count of how empty his victory would be.
ಆಧಾರ: ಹಲವು ಮೂಲಗಳು. ವ್ಯಾಖ್ಯಾನಕಾರರ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ ಭಿನ್ನವಾಗಿರುವಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡೂ ಅರ್ಥಗಳನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇವೆ.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today
ನಾವು ದುಡಿಯುವುದು ‘ನಮ್ಮವರಿಗಾಗಿ’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಭವಿಷ್ಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ, ಹೆತ್ತವರ ನೆಮ್ಮದಿಗಾಗಿ, ಮನೆಯವರ ಸುಖಕ್ಕಾಗಿ.
We say we work for our own people: for the children’s future, for our parents’ peace, for the comfort of the household.
ಆದರೆ ಕೆಲವೊಮ್ಮೆ ಆ ದುಡಿಮೆಯೇ ಅದೇ ಜನರಿಂದ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ದೂರ ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಕಟ್ಟಿದ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಕ್ಕಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಸಮಯವೇ ಉಳಿಯುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಯೋಚಿಸಿ ನೋಡಿ: ಯಾರಿಗಾಗಿ ಓಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇವೋ ಅವರು ಈ ಓಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ?
But sometimes that very work takes us away from those same people. In the house built for the children, no time is left to sit with the children. Think about it: where are the people we are running for, in this race?
