ಅಂಬರಮನೂರುಲಂಘ್ಯಂ: ಸಜ್ಜನರ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಹೋಲಿಕೆ ಇಲ್ಲ

ನಕ್ಷೆ ಹಿಡಿದು ಹೊರಟರೆ ಆಕಾಶವೂ ಅಳೆಯುವ ವಸ್ತು, ಸಮುದ್ರವೂ ಒಂದು ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ. ಪ್ರಯಾಣದ ಸಮಯ ಲೆಕ್ಕ ಹಾಕುವುದು ನಮಗೆ ಅಭ್ಯಾಸ.

ಆದರೆ ಅಳೆಯಲಾಗದ ಒಂದು ವಿಷಯವಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಈ ಆರ್ಯಾ ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ. ಮೂರು ದೊಡ್ಡ ವಸ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ಒಂದೊಂದಾಗಿ ತಂದು ಅವುಗಳ ಮಿತಿಯನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸಿ, ಕೊನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಜ್ಜನರ ಮನಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಇಡುತ್ತದೆ.

ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ

ಅಂಬರಮನೂರುಲಂಘ್ಯಂ (अम्बरमनूरुलङ्घ्यं, ambaramanūrulaṅghyaṃ) = ಆಕಾಶವನ್ನು ಅನೂರುವಿನಿಂದ ದಾಟಬಹುದು (the sky can be crossed by Anuru, the thighless one)
ವಸುಂಧರಾ (वसुन्धरा, vasundharā) = ಭೂಮಿ (the earth)
ಸಾಪಿ (सापि, sāpi) = ಅದೂ ಕೂಡ (even that)
ವಾಮನೈಕಪದಾ (वामनैकपदा, vāmanaikapadā) = ವಾಮನನ ಒಂದೇ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಯಷ್ಟು (a single step of Vamana)
ಅಬ್ಧಿರಪಿ (अब्धिरपि, abdhirapi) = ಸಮುದ್ರವೂ (even the ocean)
ಪೋತಲಂಘ್ಯಃ (पोतलङ्घ्यः, potalaṅghyaḥ) = ಹಡಗಿನಿಂದ ದಾಟಬಹುದು (can be crossed by a ship)
ಸತಾಂ (सतां, satāṃ) = ಸಜ್ಜನರ (of the good)
ಮನಃ (मनः, manaḥ) = ಮನಸ್ಸು (mind)
ಕೇನ (केन, kena) = ಯಾವುದರೊಡನೆ (with what)
ತುಲ್ಯಂ (तुल्यं, tulyaṃ) = ಸಮ (equal)
ಸ್ಯಾತ್ (स्यात्, syāt) = ಆಗಬಹುದು (could it be)

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)

ಆಕಾಶವನ್ನು ಅನೂರು ದಾಟಬಲ್ಲ. ಭೂಮಿ ವಾಮನನ ಒಂದೇ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಯಷ್ಟು. ಸಮುದ್ರವನ್ನೂ ಹಡಗಿನಲ್ಲಿ ದಾಟಬಹುದು. ಹಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ ಸಜ್ಜನರ ಮನಸ್ಸು ಯಾವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಮ?

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)

The sky can be crossed by Anuru. The earth is no more than one step of Vamana. The ocean too can be crossed by ship. Then what could be equal to the mind of the good?

ಈ ಸುಭಾಷಿತದ ಬಗ್ಗೆAbout this subhashita

ಅನೂರು ಎಂದರೆ ತೊಡೆಗಳಿಲ್ಲದವನು. ಸೂರ್ಯನ ಸಾರಥಿ ಅರುಣನನ್ನು ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೀಗೆ ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಕಾಲಿಲ್ಲದವನೇ ಆಕಾಶವನ್ನು ದಾಟುವುದಾದರೆ ಆಕಾಶ ಅಷ್ಟೇನೂ ದೊಡ್ಡದಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬ ಧ್ವನಿ ಇಲ್ಲಿದೆ.

Anuru means the one without thighs, the name tradition gives Aruna, the sun’s charioteer. The suggestion is that if one without legs crosses the sky, the sky cannot be so vast.

ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಿದ ವಾಮನ ಒಂದೇ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನು ಅಳೆದ ವಾಮನ ಅವತಾರದ ಕಥೆಗೆ ಸೂಚನೆ. ಮೂರು ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕ ಹೋಲಿಕೆಗಳು ಒಂದರ ಮೇಲೊಂದು ಏರಿ ಕೊನೆಯ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗೆ ದಾರಿ ಮಾಡುತ್ತವೆ.

Vamana here recalls the tale of the dwarf incarnation who measured the earth in a step. The three comparisons climb one over another and prepare the final question.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today

ಒಬ್ಬ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯ ಮನಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಅವರ ಕೆಲಸ, ಪದವಿ ಅಥವಾ ಸಂಬಳದಿಂದ ಅಳೆಯಲಾಗದು. ಅಳೆಯುವ ಸಾಧನ ಒಂದಿದ್ದರೆ ಅದು ಸಮಯ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂದರ್ಭ ಮಾತ್ರ.

The mind of a good person cannot be measured by job, rank or salary. If any gauge exists, it is only time and circumstance.

ಉತ್ಪ್ರೇಕ್ಷೆಯಿಂದ ಹೊಗಳುವ ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಇದು. ಯಾರನ್ನೂ ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಬೇಡಿ ಎಂದು ಅರ್ಥವಲ್ಲ. ಒಳ್ಳೆಯತನದ ಆಳ ಒಂದೇ ಭೇಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಯುವುದು ಸಾಕು.

The verse praises by exaggeration. It does not forbid judging anyone. It is enough to know that the depth of goodness is not found in a single meeting.
