ಪೈಠಣದ ಸಂತ ಏಕನಾಥರು ಗೋದಾವರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದೇಹ ತ್ಯಾಗ ಮಾಡಿದ ದಿನವೇ ನಾಥ ಷಷ್ಠಿ. ಫಾಲ್ಗುಣ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ಪಕ್ಷದ ಷಷ್ಠಿಯಂದು ಪೈಠಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.
ಆಚರಿಸುವ ರೀತಿ
ಗೋದಾವರಿ ತೀರದ ಪೈಠಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂತ ಏಕನಾಥರ ಸ್ಮರಣಾರ್ಥ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಜಾತ್ರೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಮಹಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರದ ನಾನಾ ಭಾಗಗಳಿಂದ ವಾರಕರಿ ದಿಂಡಿಗಳು ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಬರುತ್ತವೆ; ಅವರ ಮನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಮಾಧಿಯನ್ನು ಪೂಜಿಸಿ, ಅವರ ಭಾರುಡ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಅಭಂಗಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅನೇಕ ಭಕ್ತರು ಗೋದಾವರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ನಾನ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ.
ಕಥೆ
ಪೈಠಣದ ಸಂತ ಏಕನಾಥರು ಮರಾಠಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ‘ಏಕನಾಥೀ ಭಾಗವತ’ ಮತ್ತು ‘ಭಾವಾರ್ಥ ರಾಮಾಯಣ’ ಗ್ರಂಥಗಳನ್ನು ರಚಿಸಿದರು ಹಾಗೂ ‘ಜ್ಞಾನೇಶ್ವರಿ’ಯನ್ನು ಸಂಪಾದಿಸಿದರು. ಎಲ್ಲ ಜಾತಿಯ ಜನರನ್ನೂ ತಮ್ಮವರಂತೆ ನೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಹೆಸರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. 1599ರಲ್ಲಿ ಇದೇ ತಿಥಿಯಂದು ಅವರು ಗೋದಾವರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದೇಹ ತ್ಯಾಗ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ಅವರ ಹಾಗೂ ಅವರ ಗುರುಗಳ ಬದುಕಿನ ಇತರ ಘಟನೆಗಳೂ ಇದೇ ದಿನ ನಡೆದವು ಎಂದು ಪರಂಪರೆ ಪರಿಗಣಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
ಅನುದಿನ ಕೊಡುವ ದಿನ
ಅಮಾಂತ ಪದ್ಧತಿಯಂತೆ ಫಾಲ್ಗುಣ ಮಾಸದ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ಪಕ್ಷದ ಷಷ್ಠಿ ತಿಥಿಯು ಸೂರ್ಯೋದಯದ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವ ದಿನವನ್ನು ಅನುದಿನ ಆ್ಯಪ್ ನೀಡುತ್ತದೆ. 1599ಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಹಿಂದಿನ ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಗೆ ಅನುದಿನ ಯಾವುದೇ ದಿನವನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾರಕರಿ ಪರಂಪರೆಯನ್ನು ಆಯ್ಕೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡ ಓದುಗರು ಎಲ್ಲೇ ಇದ್ದರೂ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಈ ದಿನ ಕಾಣುತ್ತದೆ. ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಹಬ್ಬಗಳು ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ಕಾಣಿಸುತ್ತವೆ; ಪರಂಪರೆಯನ್ನು ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಾಗ ಹೆಚ್ಚುವರಿ ದಿನಗಳು ಸೇರಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತವೆ, ಅಷ್ಟೇ.

At Paithan on the Godavari a large yatra is held for Sant Eknath. Varkari dindis arrive from across Maharashtra, his house and samadhi are worshipped, and his bharuds and abhangas are sung. Many bathe in the Godavari.
The story
Sant Eknath of Paithan wrote the Eknathi Bhagavat and the Bhavartha Ramayana in Marathi and edited the Dnyaneshwari. He was known for treating people of every caste as his own. He gave up his body in the Godavari in 1599 on this tithi, and the tradition counts other events of his and his guru’s life on the same day.
Which day Anudina gives
Anudina gives the day on which the sixth tithi of the dark fortnight is running at sunrise, in the month that is Phalguna by the amanta count. Anudina shows no day for years before 1599.
Anudina shows it to readers who tick the Varkari lineage in the Tradition sheet, wherever they are. The general festivals are always shown; a lineage only adds days.
