ಶ್ರುತೀನಾಂ ಮೂರ್ಧಾನೋ ದಧತಿ ತವ ಯೌ ಶೇಖರತಯಾ
ಮಮಾಪ್ಯೇತೌ ಮಾತಃ ಶಿರಸಿ ದಯಯಾ ಧೇಹಿ ಚರಣೌ ।
ಯಯೋಃ ಪಾದ್ಯಂ ಪಾಥಃ ಪಶುಪತಿಜಟಾಜೂಟತಟಿನೀ

ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ದೇವನಾಗರಿ)
श्रुतीनां मूर्धानो दधति तव यौ शेखरतया
ममाप्येतौ मातः शिरसि दयया धेहि चरणौ ।
ययोः पाद्यं पाथः पशुपतिजटाजूटतटिनी
ययोर्लाक्षालक्ष्मीररुणहरिचूडामणिरुचिः ॥ 84 ॥

mamāpyetau mātaḥ śirasi dayayā dhehi caraṇau |

ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ
- ಶ್ರುತೀನಾಂ ಮೂರ್ಧಾನಃ (श्रुतीनां मूर्धानः, śrutīnāṃ mūrdhānaḥ) = ವೇದಗಳ ಶಿರಸ್ಸುಗಳಾದ ಉಪನಿಷತ್ತುಗಳು (the heads of the Vedas, the Upanishads)
- ದಧತಿ (दधति, dadhati) = ಧರಿಸುತ್ತವೆ (wear)
- ತವ ಯೌ (तव यौ, tava yau) = ನಿನ್ನ ಯಾವ (which of yours)
- ಶೇಖರತಯಾ (शेखरतया, śekharatayā) = ಶಿರೋಭೂಷಣವಾಗಿ (as a crest ornament)
- ಮಮ ಅಪಿ (मम अपि, mama api) = ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೂ (on mine too)
- ಏತೌ (एतौ, etau) = ಈ ಎರಡು (these two)
- ಮಾತಃ (मातः, mātaḥ) = ತಾಯಿಯೇ (O Mother)
- ಶಿರಸಿ (शिरसि, śirasi) = ತಲೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ (on the head)
- ದಯಯಾ (दयया, dayayā) = ದಯೆಯಿಂದ (in kindness)
- ಧೇಹಿ (धेहि, dhehi) = ಇಡು (place)
- ಚರಣೌ (चरणौ, caraṇau) = ಪಾದಗಳನ್ನು (your feet)
- ಯಯೋಃ (ययोः, yayoḥ) = ಯಾವುವಕ್ಕೆ (for which)
- ಪಾದ್ಯಂ ಪಾಥಃ (पाद्यं पाथः, pādyaṃ pāthaḥ) = ಪಾದ ತೊಳೆಯುವ ನೀರು (the water for washing the feet)
- ಪಶುಪತಿಜಟಾಜೂಟತಟಿನೀ (पशुपतिजटाजूटतटिनी, paśupatijaṭājūṭataṭinī) = ಶಿವನ ಜಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಗಂಗೆ (the river in Shiva’s matted hair)

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ತಾಯಿಯೇ, ಉಪನಿಷತ್ತುಗಳು ಶಿರೋಭೂಷಣವಾಗಿ ಧರಿಸುವ ನಿನ್ನ ಎರಡು ಪಾದಗಳನ್ನು ದಯೆಯಿಂದ ನನ್ನ ತಲೆಯ ಮೇಲೂ ಇಡು. ಶಿವನ ಜಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಗಂಗೆಯೇ ಆ ಪಾದಗಳನ್ನು ತೊಳೆಯುವ ನೀರು. ಅವುಗಳಿಗೆ ಹಚ್ಚಿದ ಅರಗಿನ ಕೆಂಪು, ನಮಸ್ಕರಿಸುವ ವಿಷ್ಣುವಿನ ಕಿರೀಟದ ರತ್ನಕ್ಕೂ ಕೆಂಪು ಕಾಂತಿ ನೀಡುತ್ತದೆ.
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)
Mother, in your kindness place on my head too those two feet of yours which the Upanishads, the crowning heads of the Vedas, wear as their crest ornament. The Ganga in Shiva’s matted hair is the water that washes them, and the red lac painted on them lends its glow to the jewel in Vishnu’s crown as he bows.
