Context and commentary on verse 15.20
Krishna calls this chapter of twenty verses ‘the most secret teaching’. Shankara notes it: though the whole Gita is scripture, this chapter alone is called ‘the teaching’ here, because the entire meaning of the Gita, and of the Veda too, has come into it in brief. Sridhara Swami reads it differently: ‘thus’ points not just to this chapter of twenty verses but to the whole teaching given so far.
For Ramanuja what is ‘most secret’ is the teaching of his being Purushottama, told to Arjuna because, being ‘anagha’, sinless, he was most fit. One who understands this has gained all the understanding needed by one who wishes to reach him, and has done all there is to do. Madhva’s comment on this verse is not in our source text.

For life today
‘Kritakritya’, one who has done all that is to be done. In an age when running has become life itself, the calm of saying ‘enough, what matters has been done’ is a rare wealth.
A short chapter with a great message. Reading it slowly, one verse a day for twenty days, is a good beginning for getting to know the heart of the Gita.
