Context and commentary on verse 12.15
Peace in two directions: no one is troubled by him, and he is troubled by no one. Ramanuja unfolds this at the level of conduct: he does nothing that troubles the world. And since the world is sure that he opposes no one, it too does nothing to trouble him.
The senses of the four feelings are subtle. For Shankara ‘harsha’ is the surge that comes on gaining something dear, with signs such as hair standing on end and tears, ‘amarsha’ is intolerance, ‘bhaya’ dread, ‘udvega’ agitation. Sridhara Swami gives ‘amarsha’ a precise sense: being unable to bear another’s gain, that is, envy. Madhva’s comment on this verse is not in our source text.
Sources: several. Where commentators differ, both readings are given here.

For doctors this verse is a mirror. A doctor who does not frighten the patient, and who is not shaken by the patient’s anger either, makes the hospital a calm place for both.
Noticing and naming the bitterness that rises within at another’s success is the first step to freedom from it.
