ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ತೇಷಾಮಹಂ ಸಮುದ್ಧರ್ತಾ ಮೃತ್ಯುಸಂಸಾರಸಾಗರಾತ್।
ಭವಾಮಿ ನಚಿರಾತ್ಪಾರ್ಥ ಮಯ್ಯಾವೇಶಿತಚೇತಸಾಮ್ ॥ 7 ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ದೇವನಾಗರಿ)
तेषामहं समुद्धर्ता मृत्युसंसारसागरात्।
भवामि नचिरात्पार्थ मय्यावेशितचेतसाम् ॥ 7 ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (English IAST)
teṣāmahaṃ samuddhartā mṛtyusaṃsārasāgarāt|
bhavāmi nacirātpārtha mayyāveśitacetasām || 7 ||
ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ
- ಪಾರ್ಥ (पार्थ, pārtha) = ಪಾರ್ಥನೇ (O Partha)
- ಮಯಿ ಆವೇಶಿತಚೇತಸಾಂ ತೇಷಾಮ್ (मयि आवेशितचेतसां तेषाम्, mayi āveśitacetasāṃ teṣām) = ನನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಮನಸ್ಸನ್ನು ನೆಲೆಗೊಳಿಸಿದ ಅವರನ್ನು (for them, whose minds are set on me)
- ಮೃತ್ಯುಸಂಸಾರಸಾಗರಾತ್ (मृत्युसंसारसागरात्, mṛtyusaṃsārasāgarāt) = ಮೃತ್ಯುವಿನಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದ ಸಂಸಾರವೆಂಬ ಸಾಗರದಿಂದ (out of the ocean of mortal existence)
- ಅಹಂ ನಚಿರಾತ್ ಸಮುದ್ಧರ್ತಾ ಭವಾಮಿ (अहं नचिरात् समुद्धर्ता भवामि, ahaṃ nacirāt samuddhartā bhavāmi) = ನಾನು ತಡಮಾಡದೆ ಮೇಲೆತ್ತುವವನಾಗುತ್ತೇನೆ (I become, before long, the one who lifts them)
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಪಾರ್ಥ, ನನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಮನಸ್ಸನ್ನು ನೆಲೆಗೊಳಿಸಿದ ಅವರನ್ನು ಮೃತ್ಯುವಿನಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದ ಸಂಸಾರವೆಂಬ ಸಾಗರದಿಂದ ನಾನು ತಡಮಾಡದೆ ಮೇಲೆತ್ತುತ್ತೇನೆ.
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)
For them, O Partha, whose minds are set on me, I become before long the one who lifts them out of the ocean of mortal existence.
ಶ್ಲೋಕ 12.7ರ ವಿವರಣೆContext and commentary on verse 12.7
‘ಸಮುದ್ಧರ್ತಾ’, ಮೇಲೆತ್ತುವವನು. ಶಂಕರಾಚಾರ್ಯರು ಸಾಗರದ ಹೋಲಿಕೆಗೆ ಕಾರಣ ಕೊಡುತ್ತಾರೆ: ಮೃತ್ಯುವಿನಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದ ಸಂಸಾರವನ್ನು ದಾಟುವುದು ಕಷ್ಟವಾದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅದು ಸಾಗರ. ‘ನಚಿರಾತ್’ ಎಂದರೆ ತಡವಿಲ್ಲದೆ, ಬೇಗನೆ. ಶ್ರೀಧರ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳು ‘ಸಮ್ಯಕ್’, ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ, ಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಮೇಲೆತ್ತುವವನು ಎಂಬ ಅರ್ಥವನ್ನು ಒತ್ತಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ.
‘Samuddharta’, the one who lifts out. Shankara gives the reason for the image of an ocean: worldly existence bound up with death is hard to cross, and so it is an ocean. ‘Nachirat’ means without delay, quickly. Sridhara Swami stresses ‘sam’, lifting them out well and completely.
ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ವ್ಯತ್ಯಾಸ ಗಮನಾರ್ಹ. ಅಕ್ಷರೋಪಾಸಕರು ತಮ್ಮ ಶ್ರಮದಿಂದ ಏರುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಭಕ್ತರನ್ನು ಭಗವಂತನೇ ಮೇಲೆತ್ತುತ್ತಾನೆ. ರಾಮಾನುಜಾಚಾರ್ಯರು ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕವನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಿನದರ ಜೊತೆಗೇ ಬಿಡಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ: ಅವನನ್ನು ಸೇರಲು ಅಡ್ಡಿಯಾದ, ಮೃತ್ಯುರೂಪವಾದ ಸಂಸಾರದಿಂದ ಅವನೇ ಬೇಗನೆ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಕೊಡುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಮಧ್ವಾಚಾರ್ಯರೂ ಇದನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಿನ ಶ್ಲೋಕದ ಗುಂಪಿನಲ್ಲೇ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ.
The difference here is notable. The worshippers of the imperishable climb by their own effort, while the Lord himself lifts his devotees out. Ramanuja unfolds this verse together with the previous one: he himself quickly frees them from worldly existence, which is death to them because it blocks their reaching him. Madhva too takes this verse within the group of the previous one.
ಆಧಾರ: ಹಲವು ಮೂಲಗಳು. ವ್ಯಾಖ್ಯಾನಕಾರರ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ ಭಿನ್ನವಾಗಿರುವಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡೂ ಅರ್ಥಗಳನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇವೆ.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today
ಆಳವಾದ ನೀರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಳುಗುತ್ತಿರುವವನಿಗೆ ದಡದಿಂದ ಚಾಚಿದ ಕೈ ಬೇಕು. ‘ನಾನು ಮೇಲೆತ್ತುತ್ತೇನೆ’ ಎಂಬ ಭರವಸೆ ಹತಾಶೆಯ ಹೊತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಆಸರೆ.
One who is sinking in deep water needs a hand stretched from the shore. The promise ‘I will lift you out’ is a great support in times of despair.
ನಮ್ಮ ಸುತ್ತಲೂ ಅಂಥ ಕೈ ಬೇಕಾದವರಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಒಂಟಿಯಾಗಿರುವ ಹಿರಿಯರಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ಫೋನ್ ಕರೆ, ಕಷ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಗೆಳೆಯನಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ಭೇಟಿ, ಇದು ನಮ್ಮ ಪಾಲಿನ ಸಣ್ಣ ‘ಸಮುದ್ಧರಣ’.
Around us are people who need such a hand. A phone call to a lonely elder, a visit to a friend in trouble: this is our own small share of lifting others out.
