ಶಿವನನ್ನು ಏಳು ಹೆಸರುಗಳಿಂದ ನಮಿಸುವ ಸರಳ ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಇದು: ಮೃತ್ಯುಂಜಯ, ರುದ್ರ, ನೀಲಕಂಠ, ಶಂಭು, ಅಮೃತೇಶ, ಶರ್ವ ಮತ್ತು ಮಹಾದೇವ.
ಕಾಯಿಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವವರಿಗಾಗಿ ಮಹಾಮೃತ್ಯುಂಜಯ ಮಂತ್ರದ ಜೊತೆಗೆ, ಅಥವಾ ಅದನ್ನು ಹೇಳಲು ಕಷ್ಟವಾದವರು ಅದರ ಬದಲು, ಸುಲಭವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಬಹುದಾದ ಶ್ಲೋಕವಾಗಿ ಇದು ಮನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬಳಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿದೆ.
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಮೃತ್ಯುಂಜಯಾಯ ರುದ್ರಾಯ ನೀಲಕಂಠಾಯ ಶಂಭವೇ ।
ಅಮೃತೇಶಾಯ ಶರ್ವಾಯ ಮಹಾದೇವಾಯ ತೇ ನಮಃ ॥

मृत्युञ्जयाय रुद्राय नीलकण्ठाय शम्भवे ।
अमृतेशाय शर्वाय महादेवाय ते नमः ॥

mṛtyuñjayāya rudrāya nīlakaṇṭhāya śambhave |

ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ
- ಮೃತ್ಯುಂಜಯಾಯ (मृत्युञ्जयाय, mṛtyuñjayāya) = ಮೃತ್ಯುವನ್ನು ಗೆದ್ದವನಿಗೆ (to the conqueror of death)
- ರುದ್ರಾಯ (रुद्राय, rudrāya) = ರುದ್ರನಿಗೆ (to Rudra)
- ನೀಲಕಂಠಾಯ (नीलकण्ठाय, nīlakaṇṭhāya) = ವಿಷ ಕುಡಿದು ಕಂಠ ನೀಲಿಯಾದವನಿಗೆ (to the blue throated one, who drank the poison)
- ಶಂಭವೇ (शम्भवे, śambhave) = ಮಂಗಳವನ್ನು ಉಂಟುಮಾಡುವ ಶಂಭುವಿಗೆ (to Shambhu, the source of welfare)
- ಅಮೃತೇಶಾಯ (अमृतेशाय, amṛteśāya) = ಅಮೃತದ ಒಡೆಯನಿಗೆ (to the lord of immortality)
- ಶರ್ವಾಯ (शर्वाय, śarvāya) = ಶರ್ವನಿಗೆ (to Sharva)
- ಮಹಾದೇವಾಯ (महादेवाय, mahādevāya) = ಮಹಾದೇವನಿಗೆ (to the great god)

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಮೃತ್ಯುವನ್ನು ಗೆದ್ದವನೂ, ರುದ್ರನೂ, ವಿಷವನ್ನು ಕುಡಿದು ನೀಲಕಂಠನಾದವನೂ, ಮಂಗಳಕಾರಿ ಶಂಭುವೂ, ಅಮೃತದ ಒಡೆಯನೂ, ಶರ್ವನೂ ಆದ ಮಹಾದೇವನೇ, ನಿನಗೆ ನಮಸ್ಕಾರ.
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)
Salutations to you, Mahadeva: conqueror of death, Rudra, the blue throated one who drank the poison, Shambhu who brings welfare, lord of immortality, Sharva.
ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕದ ಬಗ್ಗೆAbout this verse
ಶರ್ವ ಎಂಬುದು ವೇದಗಳಲ್ಲೇ ಕಾಣುವ ರುದ್ರನ ಹಳೆಯ ಹೆಸರುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು. ನೀಲಕಂಠ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರು ಸಮುದ್ರಮಥನದ ಕಥೆಗೆ ಸೇರಿದ್ದು. ಲೋಕವನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಲು ಶಿವ ಹಾಲಾಹಲ ವಿಷವನ್ನು ಕುಡಿದು ಕಂಠದಲ್ಲೇ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ.
Sharva is one of Rudra’s old names, found in the Vedas themselves. Nilakantha comes from the story of the churning of the ocean, when Shiva drank the halahala poison to save the world and held it in his throat.
ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕದ ಮೂಲವನ್ನು ಖಚಿತವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಲಾಗದು. ತ್ರ್ಯಂಬಕಂ ಯಜಾಮಹೇ ಎಂಬ ಮಹಾಮೃತ್ಯುಂಜಯ ಮಂತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಈ ತಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೇರೆ ಪುಟವಿದೆ.

ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ ಕಾಯಿಲೆಯ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಆಸರೆ ಕೊಡುತ್ತದೆ, ಆದರೆ ಅದು ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಯ ಬದಲಲ್ಲ.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today
ಶಿವ ವಿಷವನ್ನು ನುಂಗಿದ, ಆದರೆ ಅದನ್ನು ಒಳಗೆ ಇಳಿಯಲು ಬಿಡಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಬದುಕಿನಲ್ಲೂ ಕೆಲವು ಕಹಿಗಳನ್ನು ನುಂಗಬೇಕಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಅವು ಹೃದಯಕ್ಕೆ ಇಳಿದು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕಹಿ ಮನುಷ್ಯರನ್ನಾಗಿಸದಂತೆ ಗಂಟಲಲ್ಲೇ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಕಲೆಯನ್ನು ನೀಲಕಂಠ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರು ನೆನಪಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
Shiva swallowed the poison but did not let it go down. In life too we have to swallow some bitterness. The name Nilakantha reminds us of the art of holding it at the throat, so that it does not sink into the heart and make us bitter people.
