ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ದೇಹೀ ನಿತ್ಯಮವಧ್ಯೋಽಯಂ ದೇಹೇ ಸರ್ವಸ್ಯ ಭಾರತ।
ತಸ್ಮಾತ್ಸರ್ವಾಣಿ ಭೂತಾನಿ ನ ತ್ವಂ ಶೋಚಿತುಮರ್ಹಸಿ ॥ 30 ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ದೇವನಾಗರಿ)
देही नित्यमवध्योऽयं देहे सर्वस्य भारत।
तस्मात्सर्वाणि भूतानि न त्वं शोचितुमर्हसि ॥ 30 ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (English IAST)
dehī nityamavadhyo’yaṃ dehe sarvasya bhārata|
tasmātsarvāṇi bhūtāni na tvaṃ śocitumarhasi || 30 ||
ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ
- ದೇಹೀ (देही, dehī) = ದೇಹಿಯು (the embodied self)
- ನಿತ್ಯಮ್ (नित्यम्, nityam) = ಸದಾ (always)
- ಅವಧ್ಯಃ (अवध्यः, avadhyaḥ) = ಕೊಲ್ಲಲಾಗದವನು (incapable of being slain)
- ಅಯಮ್ (अयम्, ayam) = ಇವನು (this)
- ದೇಹೇ (देहे, dehe) = ದೇಹದಲ್ಲಿ (in the body)
- ಸರ್ವಸ್ಯ (सर्वस्य, sarvasya) = ಎಲ್ಲರ (of every being)
- ಭಾರತ (भारत, bhārata) = ಓ ಭಾರತ (O Bharata)
- ತಸ್ಮಾತ್ (तस्मात्, tasmāt) = ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ (therefore)
- ಸರ್ವಾಣಿ ಭೂತಾನಿ (सर्वाणि भूतानि, sarvāṇi bhūtāni) = ಎಲ್ಲ ಜೀವಿಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ (for all beings)
- ನ ತ್ವಮ್ ಶೋಚಿತುಮ್ ಅರ್ಹಸಿ (न त्वम् शोचितुम् अर्हसि, na tvam śocitum arhasi) = ನೀನು ದುಃಖಿಸುವುದು ತಕ್ಕದ್ದಲ್ಲ (you should not grieve)
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಭಾರತ, ಎಲ್ಲರ ದೇಹದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಈ ದೇಹಿಯು ಸದಾ ಕೊಲ್ಲಲಾಗದವನು. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಯಾವ ಜೀವಿಗಾಗಿಯೂ ನೀನು ದುಃಖಿಸುವುದು ತಕ್ಕದ್ದಲ್ಲ.
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)
Bharata, this embodied self in the body of every being can never be slain. Therefore you should not grieve for any being.

ಆತ್ಮದ ನಿತ್ಯತೆಯ ಭಾಗ ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಮುಗಿಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಶಂಕರಾಚಾರ್ಯರು ಸಮಾರೋಪವನ್ನು ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟಪಡಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ: ಭೀಷ್ಮ ದ್ರೋಣರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲ, ಯಾವ ಜೀವಿಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆಯೂ ಈ ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶೋಕ ಸಲ್ಲದು.
The section on the eternity of the self ends here. Shankaracharya makes the conclusion explicit: on this ground, grief is out of place not only for Bhishma and Drona but for any being at all.
ರಾಮಾನುಜಾಚಾರ್ಯರು ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಒಂದು ಸಮಾನತೆಯ ಆಯಾಮವನ್ನು ಸೇರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ದೇವತೆಗಳಿಂದ ಸ್ಥಾವರಗಳವರೆಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲ ಜೀವಿಗಳೂ ಸ್ವರೂಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಾನರು ಮತ್ತು ನಿತ್ಯರು. ವ್ಯತ್ಯಾಸ ಮತ್ತು ಅನಿತ್ಯತೆ ಇರುವುದು ದೇಹದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ಎಂಬುದು ಅವರ ಮಾತು.
Ramanujacharya adds a note of equality. All beings, from the gods down to plants, are equal in their essential nature and are eternal. Difference and impermanence belong to the body alone.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today
ದೇಹಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವ್ಯತ್ಯಾಸಗಳಿವೆ. ವಯಸ್ಸು, ಬಲ, ಬಣ್ಣ, ಆರೋಗ್ಯ, ಹಣ. ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯ ಸಾಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ವ್ಯತ್ಯಾಸಗಳು ಎದ್ದು ಕಾಣುತ್ತವೆ.
There are differences between bodies: age, strength, colour, health, money. In a hospital queue these differences are plain to see.
ಆದರೆ ನೋವು ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಒಂದೇ ರೀತಿ ಚುಚ್ಚುತ್ತದೆ, ಭಯ ಎಲ್ಲರ ಮುಖದಲ್ಲೂ ಒಂದೇ ರೀತಿ ಕಾಣುತ್ತದೆ. ಎಲ್ಲ ದೇಹಗಳಲ್ಲೂ ಇರುವುದು ಒಂದೇ ಎಂಬ ಮಾತಿಗೆ ವಾರ್ಡಿನ ಅನುಭವ ಒಂದು ಸರಳ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿ.
But pain pricks everyone the same way, and fear looks the same on every face. The experience of the ward is a simple witness to the claim that what dwells in all bodies is one.
