ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಇದಮದ್ಯ ಮಯಾ ಲಬ್ಧಮಿಮಂ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ಸ್ಯೇ ಮನೋರಥಮ್।
ಇದಮಸ್ತೀದಮಪಿ ಮೇ ಭವಿಷ್ಯತಿ ಪುನರ್ಧನಮ್ ॥ 13 ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ದೇವನಾಗರಿ)
इदमद्य मया लब्धमिमं प्राप्स्ये मनोरथम्।
इदमस्तीदमपि मे भविष्यति पुनर्धनम् ॥ 13 ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (English IAST)
idamadya mayā labdhamimaṃ prāpsye manoratham|
idamastīdamapi me bhaviṣyati punardhanam || 13 ||
ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ
- ಇದಮ್ ಅದ್ಯ ಮಯಾ ಲಬ್ಧಮ್ (इदम् अद्य मया लब्धम्, idam adya mayā labdham) = ಇದನ್ನು ಇಂದು ನಾನು ಪಡೆದೆ (this I have gained today)
- ಇಮಂ ಮನೋರಥಂ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ಸ್ಯೇ (इमं मनोरथं प्राप्स्ये, imaṃ manorathaṃ prāpsye) = ಈ ಆಸೆಯನ್ನು ಪೂರೈಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವೆ (this desire I shall fulfil)
- ಇದಮ್ ಅಸ್ತಿ (इदम् अस्ति, idam asti) = ಇದು ನನ್ನಲ್ಲಿದೆ (this is mine)
- ಇದಮ್ ಅಪಿ ಧನಂ ಪುನಃ ಮೇ ಭವಿಷ್ಯತಿ (इदम् अपि धनं पुनः मे भविष्यति, idam api dhanaṃ punaḥ me bhaviṣyati) = ಈ ಹಣವೂ ಮುಂದೆ ನನ್ನದಾಗುತ್ತದೆ (this wealth too will be mine again)
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
‘ಇದನ್ನು ಇಂದು ನಾನು ಪಡೆದೆ, ಈ ಆಸೆಯನ್ನು ಪೂರೈಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವೆ. ಇದು ನನ್ನಲ್ಲಿದೆ, ಈ ಹಣವೂ ಮುಂದೆ ನನ್ನದಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.’
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)
‘This I have gained today, this desire I shall fulfil. This is mine, and this wealth too will be mine in time.’
ಶ್ಲೋಕ 16.13ರ ವಿವರಣೆContext and commentary on verse 16.13
ಶ್ರೀಧರ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಇಲ್ಲಿಂದ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಶ್ಲೋಕಗಳು ಅವರ ‘ಮನೋರಾಜ್ಯ’ವನ್ನೂ, ಅಂದರೆ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನ ಕನಸಿನ ಸಾಮ್ರಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನೂ, ಅದರ ಫಲವಾದ ನರಕಪ್ರಾಪ್ತಿಯನ್ನೂ ಹೇಳುತ್ತವೆ. ಶಂಕರಾಚಾರ್ಯರು ಅವರ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಮುಂದುವರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ: ‘ಮುಂದಿನ ವರ್ಷ ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ಹಣ ಬರುತ್ತದೆ, ಅದರಿಂದ ನಾನು ಶ್ರೀಮಂತನೆಂದು ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧನಾಗುತ್ತೇನೆ.’
According to Sridhara Swami the four verses from here are their ‘manorajya’, the dream kingdom of the mind, and its fruit, the fall into hell. Shankara continues their words: ‘next year more money will come, and by it I shall become famous as a rich man.’
ರಾಮಾನುಜಾಚಾರ್ಯರು ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಮುಖ್ಯ ದೋಷವನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ: ‘ಹೊಲ, ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯದಿಂದಲೇ ಪಡೆದೆ, ಅದೃಷ್ಟ ಅಥವಾ ದೈವದಿಂದಲ್ಲ. ಮುಂದಿನದನ್ನೂ ನನ್ನ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯದಿಂದಲೇ ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತೇನೆ.’ ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ತನ್ನ ಕರ್ತೃತ್ವಕ್ಕೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸುವುದೇ ಆಸುರ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯ ತಿರುಳು. ಮಧ್ವಾಚಾರ್ಯರ ವಿವರಣೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಮೂಲ ಪಠ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕಕ್ಕೆ ಇಲ್ಲ.
Ramanuja points to the main flaw here: ‘fields, children, everything I gained by my own ability alone, not by fortune or the divine. What is to come I shall also gain by my own ability.’ Crediting everything to one’s own doing is the core of the demonic outlook. Madhva’s comment on this verse is not in our source text.
ಆಧಾರ: ಹಲವು ಮೂಲಗಳು. ವ್ಯಾಖ್ಯಾನಕಾರರ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ ಭಿನ್ನವಾಗಿರುವಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡೂ ಅರ್ಥಗಳನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇವೆ.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today
ಯಾವ ಯಶಸ್ಸೂ ಒಬ್ಬರದ್ದೇ ಅಲ್ಲ. ತಂದೆ ತಾಯಿ, ಗುರುಗಳು, ಸಹೋದ್ಯೋಗಿಗಳು, ಸಮಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕ ಅವಕಾಶಗಳು ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಲುದಾರರು. ಅದನ್ನು ನೆನೆಯುವುದು ವಿನಯವನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸುತ್ತದೆ.
No success belongs to one person alone. Parents, teachers, colleagues and opportunities that came at the right time all share in it. Remembering this grows humility.
‘ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು, ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು’ ಎಂಬ ಲೆಕ್ಕಾಚಾರ ಕೊನೆಯಿಲ್ಲದ್ದು. ‘ಸಾಕು’ ಎಂಬ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕಲಿಯುವುದು ಮನಸ್ಸಿನ ಆರೋಗ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಕೊಡುಗೆ.
The reckoning of ‘more, and more’ has no end. Learning the word ‘enough’ is a great gift to mental health.
